I can easily say that this is the worst medical care I have ever received. This is the first review I have left on a facility--in general, it takes a lot to upset me. I am compelled to let others know what they may face in Autumn Care of Cornelius. It was recommended by the hospital that I receive rehab after treatment for a severe break in my femur. I was given a list to choose from with star ratings. Autumn Care of Cornelius had only a 2 star rating, but a woman visited my hospital room and really encouraged me to try their facility-- that the poor rating was an old rating and they were a 4-5 star facility currently. She showed beautiful pictures and we were impressed with what she had to say. I checked other ratings online and the ratings were wide ranging. We decided to give it a go because it was close to home. As I was being transported to the place, I got a call from a neighbor warning me that many of the members of the neighborhood were "aghast" that I had opted for Autumn Care of Cornelius. I figured "What the heck--I am pretty laid back, easy to please, and it's only for a few days anyway". I am so sorry I didn't listen to them. I have been treated for years for chronic pain, due to a failed spinal fusion and peripheral neuropathy. As a psychologist, I am well aware of the dangers of addiction and opioid use, but my treatment at ACOC was nothing less than torture. My pain level from the accident was extreme, but it was never treated adequately. They would only give about half the medication I was taking for pain PRIOR to the accident. My new injury wasn't being treated at all and it was joined by pain from my prior condition. After hours of unrelenting pain, I begged them to contact my pain doctor and my husband even brought in my prescription bottles to show them my baseline pain treatment levels, but they wouldn't budge. They said since I was scheduled to leave the facility for an appointmentwith my pain doctor in 2 days, that I could just have him send recommendations back with me and they would honor them. I suffered through 7-8 level pain for 2 days, came back from my appointment with recommendations of my regular pain treatment plus a little extra that I could request for an extreme break out of pain. I was so relieved that I was going to get some relief, but very little changed in the next day, so I demanded to be released. They tried hard to convince me otherwise. One nurse tried to explain that some of the staff were misreading the dosage of the pill given (no excuse at all!) Ironically, the Physical Therapy team was outstanding, but I can't recommend you send your loved one there due to the unresponsive medical team. It is hard to give even 1 star. I encourage you to heed the warnings that I ignored.

Everything was very nice during my stay. Night shift staff was extra caring. Therapy went well and got me about to discharge home with my son and husband. Food could improve a little but my home cooking isn't great either 🙂 (although some does make very good biscuits and gravey) Overall I would recommend!

This is my second time around at Autumn Care of Cornelius and it keeps getting better and better. There are some marvelous people here. It's very comfortable, decorated beautifully, people are caring. Rehab is outstanding, especially Minette and Trinita and Katie. Very caring people. I'll he back! Food food too!

It was a wonderful experiwnce. Everything ran like clockwork, I enjoyed the other residents here. Much better than the other facilities I was at. My next knee replacement I'll be back!

I had a a good experience. My doctor at the hospital sent me specifically to recover from pneumonia. Therapy has been wonderful. The rehabilitation gym and staff are top notch. He said "there's others in there area but I want you at Autumn Care ". Couldn't have agreed more.

I was quite happy with the care I got here. Food was good. Some people were extra nice, shanika who brought my breakfast every morning. People in therapy was good ,minette. Katie was good too. Katie helped a lot especially with recommendations for care after I left. very happy with my experience.

Coming to Autumn Care was a wonderful experience. I came in barely able to walk. Their OT & PT crew was professional, caring and passionate about helping everyone here. While here, I improved my ability to stand, walk and care for myself. I'm ready to go home. All the staff was cheerful and ready to help in any way. Thanks everyone!

I was at another facility and later admitted to the hospital. I needed a trach put in. My previous facility could not care for my needs. Autumn Care had the capabilities to do so. This is the best place I've been in. It's a 5 star hotel with care givers. Everyone's treated me great. Come to autumn Care for great respiratory care! Especially if you have trach needs!

I just want to say that while we have lots of good CNA'S at Autumn Care and we also have some lazy rude ones, I look every day to see if Ebony is here. She is real! She's compassionate and she is definitely not lazy. I have lived here going on 6 years because I kept falling and my family didn't want me to live alone. I have seen a lot during my stay here but this is my home. It is very important to have great CNA's that you can trust and know that if you need them they will be there for you. We have several that are that way on 100/200 . There's too much drama some days but as my home I feel blessed as long as we keep nurses that we know and love and good CNA's that we know and love. I could mention more good CNA's but I don't want to leave anyone out.

My mother was admitted to Rehab unit on Monday, July 15th. She stayed 5 days in the unit. All the nursing staff was absolutely wonderful to Mom. She never had to wait for help, everyone anticipated her needs, medications were on time, dignity and respect the entire admission. The physical, occupational and speech therapist were exceptional! They gave such great advice to us on our journey back home! Would highly recommend for anyone seeking short term rehab in the Lake Norman Area. Sandy Steiss

First of all, I will say the best care for a loved one is one that is provided at home by family. Unfortunately, our circumstances did not allow us to do this and we had to make a tough decision in 2022 to find a nursing facility for mom who was diagnosed with early onset dementia. Unlike other nursing facilities we visited, Autumn Care of Cornelius is clean and well-maintained. The attention and care provided by the nurses and CNA's have met our expectations. They are patient and make an effort to understand mom despite some language barrier (mom speaks Spanish). The receptionist and staff (including kitchen, housekeeping and facilities) greet you and make you feel welcomed. When we have concerns, they are addressed and resolved most of the time. We just celebrated mom's 100th birthday at the nursing facility. We had family coming from other states and overseas. We reserved the Community Room. Josh (administrator) also offered the use of the Activity Room as it has a sink and countertop space. Benny from facilities and his staff brought additional chairs and tables for us to use. They definitely have gone above to make this milestone celebration a memorable one!

I have my personal feelings and whatnot about this place. But however, the only reason that it is four stars, is because of the Secretary upfront . And she makes this whole place a better experience when I come in. She's always in communication with me and extremely nice. She always understands my needs, and addresses them promptly. Her name is CeCe I'm not sure how that spelled. So, if you have any issues be sure to speak with her because she will calm you down. She is one of the workers there that has my respect.
