I visited several times and I soon will become a resident there. Wonderful Continuing Care Community where you start out an independent living in an apartment that you get to choose what it looks like. If it comes to where you need assisted living or memory care or skilled nursing you can move into those areas right in the complex. Food is good lots of fun activities, swimming pool and an exercise room besides some bocce courts. Forested as well as lake and walking trails. The people are very friendly.

After living in the comfort and worry free environment of Tryon Estates for nineteen years, I believe that we made the right choice for personal happiness.There is not a worry or care that this community has not helped us to get through. Once again, I have trusted someone and lived to regret it. I believed the marketing when I invested and enrolled in Tryon Estates as my life-care community. The ambiance was delightful, the food was good, the landscaping was pristine, and the people who live here were genuine and friendly. Over the years I have watched it decline. The newest generation of management seems to be enamored with the immediate "high" of closing the deal, rather than the overall lasting satisfaction and enjoyment of taking a prolonged responsibility to its fruition. The new decor is modern and not to my taste at all. I preferred the stately elegance evident when I first moved to Tryon Estates. The new furniture provided for our common areas is large, ungainly and much of it is upholstered in pleather, so there is no place to sit comfortably. Perhaps the marketing thought behind that choice was to keep residents out of the lobby areas, cluttering up the place. Food quality has gone down steadily since my move here. Where I once enjoyed the socialization of eating often with my friends and neighbors, in the past three years I have had to cook for myself more and more to avoid the sauces, gravies and marinades, filled with sugar or some other kind of sweetener. I have also noticed that the quality of food on the menu is much lower than when I moved here. That fact has nothing to do with the construction project of the past three years or the temporary relocation of the dining facility. A good chef can only do just so much when provided with lower quality ingredients. My glass is half full. I have a place to hang my hat. It no longer has the refined atmosphere where I had happily anticipated living out my days. I am truly uncomfortable, but feel blessed by those who live around me. This retirement community may well be the place "where loving kindness lives", but it surely isn't a place where management cares. It seems the only interest is in marketing to an invisible, plastic demographic they now wish to attract as residents. I know I am not alone in my thinking or my feelings. I trusted this group. That trust was obviously misplaced and has now been almost completely broken. Moving-out is not an option I want to take. I have friends here.

We are glad that we moved to Tryon Estates. There are plenty of activities, the employees can't do enough for you, there is a safe, quiet secure small town atmosphere, our fellow residents are friendly and the health care is excellent. Given better dining arrangements I would give them five stars.

My grandparents are so happy here. The place has wonderful layouts. Great dinners. Fun activities for the seniors. I love their drawing time and senior yoga (i like to take part). They provide services to go to concerts, shopping, out door activities in groups. Everyone on the staff is helpful and friendly. I hated my grandparents leaving their home but this place has changed my mind and I am so happy they are so well cared for and so comfortable and happy.

After researching 26 Retirement Communities , my wife & I chose Tryon Estates. Now 2 years later, we are totally happy here. Tryon Estates is a caring, loving community with a staff second to none.

I work there,been here 18 yrs. Started in laundry,and did that for 13 years. Now I work in. OBT ,and love it. My friend,grace and I clean 40 rooms a week and that alot.
