My mom was at Artis of Woodbury from May of 2023 until February of 2024. I chose Artis because of its focus on memory care; it's not just a small add-on to other senior living services. That's evident in the expansive space (particularly the lovely backyard), the many activities available to residents, and the general feel of the place - it feels cheerful, bright, and new. It turned out to be the right choice - everything they promised on the tour turned out to be true - the staff treated my mom as an individual, getting to know and appreciate her. There are many activities each day, led by people who appear to truly love what they do. My mom, when she was still able to communicate clearly, only had good things to say about all of the staff (and the food!). Two particular things I want to note - the staff turnover is remarkably low. I first started the process in October of 22 (issues on my end delayed the move, not any issues with Artis), and from then until February of 2024, not a single leadership/management role turned over. This has not been my experience at other senior living environments. And while she was in their care, her primary care partners also did not change. Of course there were some changes, but to be able to keep the primary caregivers consistent is a huge advantage when working with people with dementia. The other thing - I can't overstate how much the staff cares about the residents. My mom was in hospice care at Artis, and her passing took many days. Either my brother or I were there 24 hours/day during that time, so we witnessed a lot. Staff members from all shifts, whether they worked directly in my mom's neighborhood or not, came by to see how she was doing, to pass along their condolences, and to tell us stories about their experiences with her. Many had tears in their eyes as they did so. And the many interactions we saw/heard between the staff and the other residents - all supported our experience that the staff are doing more than just keeping the residents safe and healthy. They are doing their best to make them feel cared for and about. It's a difficult decision, to move your loved one into memory care, leaving them in the hands of strangers. I was never anything but happy with my decision to choose Artis.

My mom is going on her fourth year at Artis and I am extremely happy with the care she has had in all those years. While there has been staff turnover , like so many other facilities, I have been extremely impressed by how Artis continually finds highly qualified and compassionate people to insure the high quality care the residents receive. It's hard to believe my mom has been part of the Artis community of Woodbury for two years. Artis is indeed a family! I hesitate to name indiviudals in fear of missing someone. The first person we met with was Jana and we knew at that time we found a memory care facility that understood dementia and how to support each resident's needs. Shout out to Amber (Enrichment Director) and staff (Amber) on engaging and offering activites for all residents on various levels, your work and dedication are so appreciated. Thank you to the nursing staff and care partners that lead the way ...Trinity, Kaylee, Chaz & Maritu. I also need to mention Jolene, she always goes out of her way to give my mom a special hug and is truly one great cleaner. Thank you to the rest of the team, Deb, Chelsey, Scott, Mark and Cindy who are always welcoming and give great care and respect to all the residents! Alzheimers is such a cruel disease, but finding Artis has helped alleviate some of the stress, knowing how well she is being cared for. Thank you!

I visit my dad nearly every day and am so impressed with the staff at Artis. His direct caregivers know him well and are always looking out for him. Payong checks on him all the time and makes sure he takes his shower, gets his compression socks off and has clean laundry (just to name a couple things). Hank makes sure he has his Cheerios for breakfast since that's what dad likes but doesn't want to ask. Alexis' sense of humor and outgoing personality cheers everyone up! Humdi, Beverly, Mary (and many others) are always checking up on him and trying to get him to participate in activities (per my wish). I wish I could name everyone who helps him but I just can't. Thank you so much for your care for him - it warms my heart to see you all smiling and caring for these residents every time I walk through. One of the other things I love about Artis is all the activities. I ask dad to try one thing each day and the wonderful thing is that he has so many things to choose from - Bingo, Music, Presentations, exercise, crafts, etc. In addition, their nursing staff is responsive. Whenever I have had a concern, they get back to me in a timely manner and the issue is resolved immediately (I've only had minor concerns). Thanks, Artis!

On Saturday I visited Rachel in ARTIS. They were doing a Halloween craft, making cloth pumpkins by putting sphere with a vertical opening in the top in the center of a piece of colorful cloth. The residents would then push the corners of the cloth into the hole at the top of the sphere and easily make a colorful decorative pumpkin. They would then put a stick in the center as a stem and the pumpkin was complete. It was quite a clever, easy, and decorative craft. Rachel was enjoying doing the activity and talking to Sharon, the woman seated next to her. I watched a while as they were beginning to wind down the activity. I went to Rachel and asked her if she would like to go back to her room with me and talk for a while. She responded, Can’t I stay here a little longer? I'm having so much fun! It was wonderful to see her enjoying herself so much. Amber Magnuson is the Life Enrichment Director at ARTIS. She developed and led the pumpkin-making activity. She is a wonderful and caring member of the ARTIS team and I would like to thank her especially for doing this and other activities for Rachel and the rest of the residents.

I was referred to Artis from A Place For Mom. We were looking for respite care while we waited for my mother's name to come up on the waiting list for a different memory care facility we had already picked out. From the first time I talked to Jana, she was amazing. She empathized with our situation (we had a lot of family issues going on at the same time) and tried to help in every way she could. I was very impressed with the philosophy and the way everything was structured at Artis to cater towards people with dementia. I liked how they try to give them freedom and still keep them safe also. If you do have a chance to be able to put your loved one here, do not hesistate!

All of the staff are wonderful, they truly see each person as unique and help to engage them in the activities they can do. The care team is amazing. Artis provides a neighborhood feeling for my father. He eats in a kitchen setting with his neighbors and can be interactive with the others living beside him. He is involved in activities daily and shares his stories with his family. The staff is kind and caring and take good care of him. The fact that he can go outside and walk among the trees is a plus. In the winter months he will be walking around the other 4 neighborhoods. He has found his home with Artis!

We moved our LO into Artis in mid/late October and so far things are going well. Jana was terrific and very responsive throughout the process and I've been very pleased with the care and attention our LO has received from the staff including Judith, Megan, Chelsey, Mengda and others. This is a tough transition for all of us and the staff at Artis has helped tremendously - almost forgot Scott, who has helped with the room and setting things up on the walls. Time will tell how things will go and much like other parts of health care and the economy, finding good caregivers aka care partners, is a tough task but thus far, my siblings and I have been very pleased with the quality of people and activities that Artis is able to provide. It's a great facility and I really like the neighborhood concept, as well as the outdoor spaces. If you are looking for a memory care residence - definitely check out Artis and talk to Jana!

Artis has been absolutely amazing!!! This is the second senior community that my grandfather has been in, and it will be the last because they have met all of our wants and needs! They have clearly communicated all information regarding his care, his ups and downs, and just overall show so much love for him! I can’t imagine having him anywhere else.
