Reviews Polar Ridge Senior Living
May 2026
My mom loves the activities and Tony the activity director. Major concerns are the doorways that shut on people if you don’t get thru quick enough. These mechanical doors are supposed to automatically bump open when they touch an object in the path. They MUST be fixed before someone is seriously hurt. I have gotten stuck a couple times and i have addressed my concerns with staff, only to be ignored. Also, the outside lighting, sidewalks, handicap parking and the giant walk needs attention and be fixed. The sidewalks are tripping hazards for residents and guests. They are an eyesore and make the place unattractive.

My 92 year old mom was in Independent Living here for 19 months. She had a very nice 1 BR apartment & it was a very nice living arrangement. Lots of scheduled activities for social interaction. Just moved her to the adjacent building in Assisted Living. I can't stress enough how helpful all the staff were in accommodating her needs and setting her up for excellent care. Special thanks to Troy, Danielle & Elizabeth for getting her in & set up. Highly recemmend!

This place was phenomenal from the moment I walked in the door to tour it for my mom! And continues to be above and beyond a wonderful place for her both with staff and facilities! Everyone is so kind and all the employees appear to love their jobs as it shows in their everyday attitude & work ethics!

We are very happy with our decision to move my dad to assisted living at Polar Ridge. It was a stressful time as my dad was having serious health issues. All of the wonderful and friendly staff made the move go very smoothly and most importantly, my dad is getting great medical care. My dad is thriving at Polar Ridge. He loves the staff, his new friends, the meal plan and all the fun activities.

Maria and the Memory Care team st Polar Ridge did an outstanding job caring for our mom throughout her 18 month journey with Alzheimer's. Both Judy and her husband Russ were encouraged and well cared for by the staff during this unsettling and often difficult time and made a significant impact in their daily lives. Thank you and God bless you all~’—

My mom moved into assisted living a few months ago. She has several mobility challenges and the staff has truly gone above and beyond to provide adaptive services and make her feel part of the community. I can't say enough good things about Polar Ridge and the staff.
May 2025
Maria consistently engages with the residents in both group activities and games that brighten their days with her enthusiasm as well as her kindness in personal attention.

My dear friend is in the memory unit and whenever I go, I am SO impressed with the care of the staff, especially Maria. She goes the extra mile to make everyone feel cared about and young again. She treats the residents with respect and kindness and connects with them as human beings rather than charges.

Our mother has been at Polar Ridge for almost 10 years. She was one of the original assisted living residents. As she aged (currently she is 99 years old), her memory started to fail. Recently we moved mom from assisted living to the memory care unit. The staff in memory care have been outstanding! The care they have given my mother is second to none. Maria treats mom as though she is one of her own family! We highly recommend Polar Ridge.

After reading many other reviews, I thought I'd provide my first review of Polar Ridge Senior Housing. While my review may currently be only 4 stars (4.5 was not an option), I do so because this is just the beginning, I am very familiar with the care industry, and I'm more than willing to admit I have high expectations. After someone I love made a life decision to accept assisted living, I took her to various locations to tour. She was adamant Polar Ridge was the place to call home. Thus, in the steps/process it took to get her accepted into Polar Ridge, and get acclimated for her first 30 days, my thoughts are as follows: * Flexibility- Meetings, tours, and assessments were achieved by the flexibility Polar Ridge provided. This ranged from marketing, to staff, to nursing, to family calling or Zooming in... we were so grateful! * Friendliness - From administrative staff, to nursing staff, to housing staff, to activities staff, to food service staff, ALL have shown a welcome feeling that seemed amiss at other locations we toured. Any time we were headed to the wrong hall or floor, someone (staff or residents) kindly stepped in to assist. * Patience - Once again, a person of high expectations, I have asked many questions to sort out what are reasonable expectations. The administrative and nursing staff have exuded much patience, and a jovial nature, with each and every query. They continue to navigate us, as we navigate Polar Ridge. They never make us feel that questions, or requests, are cumbersome or a burden. They have listened, and they have taken action. Rome wasn't built overnight, thus change takes time. * Variety - Choice is imperative at this stage in life. Residents have a monthly activity calendar, jam packed full of things to choose from. We told our loved one, "Polar Ridge will be what you make of it. Get out and try it all." Our loved one has discovered many new activities to enjoy, as well as discovering dining provides choice as well. She is happy at Polar Ridge. * Renewed - I have recognized some staffing changes have occurred within the last 3 years, which is extremely common in the care industry (a grave misfortune, but it exists). What i currently see is a driven, cohesive, adaptable, and growing team, with great potential! I look forward to seeing all they become. Many reviews I read seem outdated, thus it is my hope to promote this renewed team. I could continue to write more, but I'm reserving that for the 5 star review i hope to provide in the future. For now, THANK YOU to all of the staff, and residents, who have been so welcoming!! Polar Ridge has a lot to offer, but you won't see it unless you step in to discover this yourself. In an industry that can be really tough, they have my respect.

My dad Roger has lived in the Senior Independent Living and the Assisted Living side of Polar Ridge. The staff are all great. He had two special people who he called his Angels, Thank you to Alli and K! Everyone was so supportive with his passing.

My brother resides on the memory care unit! Polar Ridge is an excellent home for my brother! The atmosphere is clean, quiet, and safe! The management (Troy) is very responsive if anything is brought forward to him in terms of suggestions or concerns. I feel very safe with the Director of Nursing Stephanie, as she will make sure any and all medical issues are addressed promptly! The food is good, my brother has gained weight, they just updated the decor so the fabrics and carpets and furniture are all up to date and beautiful! The staff are nice and friendly and work hard! Polar Ridge is the Best!!! If you can get a spot here take it!!!

Danielle, Stephanie and the entire staff have been so kind and helpful in getting a family member back to better health. The food is also quite good. If you are looking for a place for a loved one, I would highly recommend Polar Ridge.

Before moving to Polar Ridge last October, my dad lived at two other senior living facilities and, later, spent several weeks at a transitional care facility. In July, he commented on how PR, more than the others, felt like home. I live close by and visited multiple times a week, so I experienced much of what he did. I’ll provide a glimpse into what shaped his feelings and also offer my own impressions. Polar Ridge employs so many kind, caring, patient people who treat residents with dignity. I observed this while there but was even more impressed by what occurred when speaking to my father on the phone. He only used the speaker option, and sometimes while we were talking, someone would knock at the door - expected because he received a higher level of care. Because the phone was at his side, my dad rarely appeared to be on the phone. On each of those fifteen or more instances this happened, I heard cheerful, friendly, gentle words coming from the person standing at the door, and this gave me tremendous peace of mind. There are many people at PR who left a positive impression on my dad and me. Because I may omit a few, I won’t mention names. I have high praise for them, which includes a member of the admin team who brought my dad breakfast one Sunday because they were short-staffed. That person is one of many who took the time to get to know my father, as evidenced by the fact he or she brought him - without asking - exactly what he preferred: coffee, orange juice, three eggs over easy, oatmeal, brown sugar, American fries, and ketchup. Another reason PR felt like home is the apartments. Because of cramped spaces and partial kitchens, many SLFs seem more like college dormitories. At PR, my dad had a larger space, one he was able to personalize by bringing in much of his own furniture, his favorite framed photographs, and artifacts from his life connected to fond memories. I was also impressed by all the activities and outings available to residents. Though my dad did not take advantage of these, I appreciated that each day, PR typically had three to seven events residents could attend (always neatly displayed in the elevator). So many of those events were well-attended, and I often saw residents enthusiastically participate as they were led by staff or volunteers who also clearly enjoyed themselves. A few additional thoughts - PR makes quick response times to call button requests a priority. Though there were a few instances I expressed concerns about slower responses, I did see improvement in this area. Fortunately, I rarely had concerns, and when I did, those were taken seriously. Yes, the food could be better, but the breakfast was consistently good, and the quality of the food seemed slightly better than at the three other places where he stayed. Food quality is the only thing that had me thinking about assigning four instead of five stars. I am comfortable with this rating.

Staff need to stop worrying about how they look. I have been sitting here watching a staff member fix her face and nails for the last 10 minutes. They dress inappropriately and don’t look like health care workers.
July 2023
My father (soon to be 92!) has been at Polar Ridge in Assisted Living for over 2 years. Our family has been extremely pleased with the quality of care he receives. The staff all know his name, preferences, and schedule. They treat him, and each other, very respectfully. He has made friends, enjoys the meals, and participates in some of the (many) activities that are offered. His doctor, through Blue Stone Physicians, visits him at least once a month and comes right to the facility. And she is excellent! We feel extremely blessed to be part of a facility and team of care givers who truly seem to love what they do and the difference they make in the lives of our older population.

The leadership team has grown together to provide awesome total care!!

My mother was recently moved into assisted living at Polar Ridge. Life has not been this good for her in a long time. We feel so much better knowing she is safe and looked after when we can not be there. She talks about how good the food is. All homemade. She is eating so good and that also is one less thing the family has to worry about. Moving to Polar Ridge was the best thing we could have done for my mom. The staff is GREAT and the residents are so friendly. I can not say enough good things. My mom is finally safe but most of all my mom is very happy ! Thank you Polar Ridge for looking after my mom !!
May 2021
I moved my mom into Polar Ridge 8 months ago. I was impressed with their staff from the first day. We had some trouble getting her phone hooked up and the staff went above and beyond making phone calls for us and helping get her set up. Nurses even let her use their personal cell phones while we were waiting for CenturyLink. I don't worry about her anymore, they have daily checks, a doctor comes to her apartment once a month to examine her, and she is safe and happy there. There are quite a few activities that I am encouraging her to explore there. She loves the food and has put on weight since her move. Thank you Polar Ridge for all you do!!

Moved our dad to Polar Ridge independent living right before the Covid lockdown. PR staff has been so caring and easy to communicate with during this time. Have been very impressed with how much they have done for our dad especially considering he is in independent living.
