My mother moved into assisted living in July 2022 after being diagnosed with cancer. She LOVED living in her apartment. People were very kind to her and she had a lot of company while living there. I thank all who helped us during her stay there.

As someone who has worked in a few nursing homes.. this place is AMAZING and always put the elderly first.. I wish more places were like this!

My father was recently in the transition care unit. Although we couldnt visit due to Covid, I never worried as I knew he was being so well-cared for. His social worker, Mari, was incredibly helpful. She kept us informed about Dads progress, making sure he had everything he needed, following up promptly with our questions, and helping us make arrangements for after his stay at The Homestead. I also appreciated how The Homestead worked to help families connect with residents in spite of Covid. Our family could have window visits, and room numbers were clearly marked outside, making it easy to stop by whenever it worked for us. The nurses and other staff were also very helpful and responsive, even though I know they have been so busy -- I always felt my Dads care was their priority.

First my mother went to short term re-hab. I had to complain about the dust bunnies & a coffee stain on the floor when she moved in. It did improve but wasn't hospital clean. Fortunately, the staff was amazing!!!! The nurses, aides, PT, social worker, etc - all worked well together and she improved a lot. It was decided she was not strong enough to go back to living alone. I toured the assisted living and memory care units. I was pleasantly surprised that these area's of the building were extremely clean and well cared for. I was encouraged to put her in memory care due to the higher care to patient ratio. I don't feel the level of care was where it should have been. She moved in mid-feb 2020. She was to have a new patient physical the first week in March. Come to find out it was never ordered so pushed to April. With the covid hitting later march that messed everything up. In addition, changes to medicine were ordered and not followed through with in a timely manner. My biggest complaint is they do not provide and monitor toilette paper. That wasn't a big deal when I could visit everyday. Once I was no longer able to visit it became a huge issue. Mind you, she has very mild dementia so she was able to pick up a phone and call me. Unfortunately, it wasn't until she was completely out that she would call which meant drop everything and go drop it off. Then continue to worry how long it would take someone to bring it up to her room. If you brought a whole bunch versus a standard size pack - it would be gone faster than expected. After complaining, they changed the procedure so all supplies would be kept in a conference room and brought to the patients as needed and staff would notify me. That worked really well at first but was not followed through on. One evening my mom called me about 9:30 pm and said she was out of toilet paper and out of kleenex and RESORTED TO USING A SOCK!!!!! I started looking for a new home and most memory care centers were shocked that it was expected for my mom to monitor her own TP. In fact, most homes provide TP and bed linnes. I learned a lot from these other (virtual) tours. I could write a 5 page report on all the pit falls in this facility. I ultimately decided that a move to a different home would be very hard on her (and me) since I would not be able to visit and help her adjust. I had our home modified to accommodate her and moved her home. I feel bad for others that are in a much worse condition cognitively than my mom. Perhaps, they spent all their time on them and forgot about my mom. I thought she would make some friends but most were so far gone. Then the fact my children and I could no longer visit, she was slipping backwards. I am happy to say she is thriving since returning home. If I ever need her to go to a nursing home again, I will NEVER go there unless there are major changes. That's unfortunate because it's only a few miles from my home.

My aunt loves this community. The residents are all so friendly here they took her in right away. She has more friends here than she has had in a long, long time. The food is great and she loves hosting us for dinner when we visit. We actually get to enjoy our visits because she has the help she needs with her laundry and housekeeping so we arent working when we come to see her. It was the perfect choice for her!

Beautiful Facility! Would highly reccommend!

Simply the best! We moved my mom into the Homestead assisted living 3 years ago. She was living all alone in a great big house and was completely isolated. When she first moved in she compared it to summer camp. She was always doing something and we never heard from her because she was so busy. Now she is getting older and her dementia is progressing and I am thankful to Angie and the rest of the assisted living staff for keeping me updated on how she is doing. I love the fact that she can truly age in place at the Homestead. With her dementia, it is good to know that she can go to the assisted living memory care or the skilled memory care based on her care need. This puts our mind at ease. I cannot recommend the Homestead enough!

What a fantastic place! My mom went here after a surgery and the therapy and care staff were top notch! Not only did she have amazing care and make great therapy progression, you can tell they have a true caregiver spirit. They knew how important it was for my mom to have her hair looking great, it gave her a sense of dignity. They made she she was on the beauty shop calendar weekly with me asking or having to make sure it was happening. They would bring her up to her appointment and back. She felt completely pamper and Barb is a great stylist! The staff does a great job of individualizing care for each person. They were sure to make sure that they were assisting her in the way that is most comfortable for her. They also did a great job of getting to know her on a personal level, unlike the hospital who you can tell were trying to move people along as quickly as possible. Mom has decided when she is ready for assisted living she will go to the Homestead. After our last experience there, we feel very comfortable with that decision. Thank you, Homestead team!

Dad moved into Assisted Living 3 years ago and absolutely loves it! The staff is caring, prompt to complete requests and seems to really enjoy working there with a passion for serving seniors. My Dad loves showing off his home to friends and family and that makes me so happy. Thank you to Angie and her team for providing a wonderful place for my dad to call home.

My mother moved into the assisted living after staying in their TCU. She was resistant to moving into an assisted living at first (after living in her house for 60 years) but she is so happy she did! At home she had become isolated and never wanted to leave the house. Now every time I call or visit her she is busy doing activities or on outings! She has meet some great friends at the community who she looks forward to seeing at lunch, bingo and she is even part of the bell choir. This has truly been a second chapter in her life and we have the staff at the Homestead to thank for that.

Gosh, I wish I would have found the Homestead years ago! We moved my grandmother in last year from another memory care community. In her previous community, she was left alone and isolated for hours. At the Homestead, they have several activities throughout the day for her to participate in. Not to mention, the staff is caring and attentive. The building is new and beautiful and she just loves it there.

My mom moved to The Homestead in October of 2017 from an assisted living facility where she had entered hospice care the previous July. I almost didn't even consider this long term care facility due to a few bad reviews. However, someone said to me, "people are more likely to actually write a bad review from one isolated incident than to write a good review even though their experience may have been beyond their expectations." As it turns out, he was right! I scheduled a tour and was extremely pleased with the amenities, layout, cleanliness, friendliness of the staff and overall updated feel of the building. My mom's surroundings were very important to her. There are many over sized windows, large rooms (most of them are private), gathering areas with comfortable and stylish furniture, wide hallways, a secure building, activities everyday, and light and bright meal areas. Definitely, not your typical "nursing home." When my mom moved there she actually "perked up" due to the attentive staff and having all of her needs met in a timely manner. The staff was warm and caring. My mom passed away just 2 months after moving there but I must say, she really enjoyed living there. Even though the decision to move my mom to a long term care facility was hard, I am so happy I did and The Homestead at Anoka was the right choice. Thank you to all of the staff!

We have had nothing but good experiences at The Homestead. The staff was welcoming, caring, genuine and incredibly helpful as we moved our parents into the new wing this last Spring. They went out of their way to find tools for us to use and answer any questions we had. It is an absolutely beautiful building and we are so happy to have our parents live in a place that is friendly and caring. We also understand that English may be a second language for many of the employees. Thank you to Jared and his staff. KUDOS to all for your for wonderful work!
