We moved our Mom into Windmill Ponds (Alexandria) in March. She feels very safe and well taken care of here. The individual rooms are spacious and comfortable, and feel like home. There are many common areas where residents can gather, eat and socialize, as well as participate in a wide variety of engaging activities. The staff is very friendly, welcoming and personable, and very accommodating with regard to resident schedules and preferences. We are pleased Mom decided to make this her new home.

We are so happy with the care at Windmill Ponds. Our loved one is safe, secure, social and content with life at Windmill Ponds. The building is bright and comfortable and the apartments are clean and up-to-date.

My name is Chris Carter, and I have been the Executive Director at Vista Prairie at Windmill Ponds for the past five years. I returned to Minnesota several years ago to care for aging parents, and made a career change from higher education to senior services. I enjoyed being an advocate for students and the transition to being an advocate for older adults in this chapter of their journey was a great fit. When leading a team, there are always difficult decisions that need to be made to support our mission of care, compassion, safety and joy! LOVE this community!!! I experienced a warm welcome from the staff at Windmill Ponds throughout my visit. Their Sales Manager, Cally was kind, informative and very knowledgeable. Their Executive Director shared her passion for working with seniors and the residents at the community, you can tell that she cares about the work she does. The community was extremely well maintained, clean and beautiful. Lots of common gathering areas throughout the community. It felt very home-y with the patios, fireplaces, bricks, colors, flowers and residents actively around the community enjoying their home. Plus, it's owned and managed by a nonprofit organization in Minnesota which is nice. Would highly recommend Vista Prairie at Windmill Ponds!

I feel I need to share my review of Windmill Ponds. My mother has been living there for 2 years and 5 months. We had to move her in at the very beginning of Covid. My Dad was in hospice and my Mom couldn’t be left alone. My Dad died. I couldn’t even stay with my mother, due to State Covid restrictions. We relied on the staff at Windmill Ponds to care for my mother during this difficult time. They did their job and treated my mother like family. I could communicate with staff at anytime. They know how to deal with the elderly. Thank God for Windmill Ponds during Covid and the loss of my Dad. Windmill Ponds is my Mom’s new home without my Dad. She participates in activities. She loves the group rides to see the Christmas lights. She is in a safe and happy environment. My siblings and I are thankful that our Mother lives at Windmill Ponds, we wouldn’t have her anywhere else. Thank you to all who make Windmill Ponds a great place to live.

They do NOT pay their employees very well and the residents are charged up the wall for rent.. Many of them complain how they don't like living there and wish they could leave.. sad
