My mother has been a resident at Grand Brook for only a couple of months, but it has been the most wonderful experience for her so far. The staff is so caring and loving with the residents, there are activities every day, the building is always clean and beautiful, the residents are incredibly well cared for, the food is home made and delicious. I can't say enough good things about Grand Brook. I'm so grateful to have such a lovely place for my mom to live.

My mom absolutely loved GBMC. She thoroughly enjoyed the multiple daily activities and special events. Families were always welcomed and encouraged to participate in events and activities. The staff genuinely loved her and gave her lots of attention. They were able to accommodated her dietary needs which sometimes changed on a daily basis. EVERYONE from caretakers to maintenance, to the cooks, and the cleaning and office staff were dedicated to her happiness and wellbeing. I will forever be grateful to the folks at Grand Brook Memory Care for the happy memories we have while my mom was in their loving care.

My brother has been a resident at Grand Brook Memory Care in Grand Rapids for over a year now. His family and I were filled with emotions first having to come to grips with his diagnosis, managing his affairs and then finding a facility we could be comfortable with to seeing that his needs were being met. Grand Brook has been a blessing to my brother and to us. The facility is very nice with an open feel to it. There is plenty of room to move about indoors with a common area complete with a fireplace and large screen television. There is also an enclosed courtyard to spend time outdoors when the weather is nice complete with plants, trees, yard furniture and a television. My brother has his own room and bathroom complete with a shower. The staff is friendly, capable and they see to his needs. Meals are freshly cooked on site and in view of anyone who cares to watch. Residents gather and dine together but can choose to eat in their own room. Daily activities are offered giving residents many opportunities to be engaged. Medications are taken care of and other services are available as needed. Communication between the staff and I have been exceptional. I can email, text or phone anytime if such a need arises. Grand Brook employs WhatsApp thereby posting pictures & messages daily allowing me to see my brother participate with others and keeping me up to date with activities. The facility also offers a support group that meets each month on Zoom which has been very helpful to me in trying to make sense of this dreaded disease and how best to communicate with my brother. I know that my brother is in good hands. I am confident he is in an exceptional facility where his needs are being met and I do not have to worry about his welfare at Grand Brook. We made the right decision.

My mother has been a resident at Grand Brook for 9 months. After visiting and researching many other assisted living facilities in the area that include memory care, Grand Brook surpassed all of them. What stood out is that the entire facility is dedicated to memory care. The staff are amazing people who are professional and compassionate. My mom was very resistant to move from her home to a facility. She now knows Grand Brook as her home. She enjoys the games, arts and crafts, special guests, and musical entainment. Feeling confident that my mom is not only being cared for, but that she is receiving LOVING care every day is such a blessing. The words thank you aren't big enough to express my gratitude.

UPDATE: My wife has now been at Grand Brook Memory Care for two years. The review I wrote after she was here one year was favorable. This review after two years confirms I made a great choice in placing my wife here. The staff continues to be outstanding and the friendly environment makes my wife and her family members happy.

Grand Brook Memory Care was a wonderful facility for my mom. She was there for two years after having spent two years in the Memory Care unit at a different, more well-known, and more expen$ive facility. GB beat that other place hands down. First, facility. GB is built with modern notions of congregate living design. There are vibrant common areas central to each "neighborhood", and most resident rooms open up directly into these common areas. The areas have nearly floor-to-ceiling windows that surround an interior central courtyard, so there is abundant natural light everywhere. Other facilities have the older rooms-off-long-hallways structure with most windows in residents rooms (and residents are rarely in their rooms), so that common areas can be somewhat small, somewhat dark, or both. GB's common areas for each neighborhood are cheery and bright, with fireplaces, conversation areas, and big TV's that are actively managed to always be showing items of interest to residents from animal documentaries to Golden Girls to holiday movies like White Christmas and even Elf! But the residents do not spend all day watching TV. First, they are free to walk anywhere in the facility that isn't locked. It is designed so there are zero steps - not even a floor seam anywhere - so that a resident can safely go anywhere. They can even go in and out of the courtyard freely (if they are ambulatory) without permission, assistance, or door codes. Any place that is dangerous for residents (e.g. kitchens, maintenance areas, etc) are locked. They also have many fun and meaningful activities from daily fun like arts and crafts to holiday parties for Mardi Gras, Cinco de Mayo, Fourth of July, everything. Many of these include family invites. And residents who are unable to participate directly for cognitive or physical reasons are often placed nearby so they can listen and feel like part of the fun. There is often live music, animals brought in by local organizations, and similar programming. It's a vibrant, active, and engaging environment that is wonderful for residents. And they have a WhatsApp page where family members can see pictures of all of the activities, parties, music, etc. It's nice to see a picture of your mom or, sometimes even better, be able to pick her out in the background of any picture - a peek into the life there. But the best thing is the staff. The staff was incredibly nice to my mom at all times. Not just avoiding being mean or curt, but over-the-top nice. I get asked whether this is because staff will put on a front when family members are around, and I will say emphatically no - that is not the case. My family was there too much for that to have been the case. We visited our mom a lot. A lot! We were all over that place. There is no way that staff could put on a front as often and for as long as we were there. I've been there too many times myself, come in unannounced too many times, come barreling around too many corners unexpectedly to not have seen anything if staff were truly not treating their residents well when they didn't think family was around. I never saw anyone being anything but extra kind to my mom or any other resident. This, in my opinion, is because of onsite leadership. Niceness flows from the top. The attitude of staff towards residents comes from the top. It comes from the way management, and the ED in particular, talks about residents in break rooms or staff meetings when there are no residents around. It comes from all communications to and about residents being respectful. All in all, Grand Brook was an absolute godsend during some very tough years for my mom. I can't imagine how much harder it would have been if it weren't for knowing that my mom was safe, cared-for, and being treated very nicely when we weren't there.

I moved my mom the Grand Brook as it's designed and staffed by people who understand memory care. The staff have been so kind and helpful. My mom seems much more settled and content here than her previous residence. My one and only suggestion would be that they modify the entry/ exit system for family members. As I visit almost on a daily basis, I end up spending large chunks of my 'visiting' time waiting for the door to be opened. I'm wondering if they couldn't install an electric key fob system which only a primary family member could use to enter and exit. This would also alleviate some of the extra tasks the staff have to address. They never make me feel bad but I do when i have to ask them to stop what they're doing to let me in or out. I also think a key fob entry system for the residents into their room would be easier for these folks. Thanks Grand Brook for your great service!

The staff is second-to-none. My father was only there for 3 months before passing, but in that time… the staff all took to him, and our family, as if we were all family. They were patient with him, talked to him and were so loving and caring. The facility is immaculately cared for and maintained. Look no further than Grand Brook in Wyoming/Grandville MI for a family member with memory care needs when the time comes.

When faced with the reality of moving a loved one out of their home, there is so much to consider. Will they be happy? Will they be properly cared for? Will the staff understand and tend to their needs adequately? Having worked for some time with the Geriatric and Dementia community, I can say with full confidence that the answers to these questions are not always "yes". So when the time came to make this move for my step father, our family combed through numerous facilities before coming across Grand Brook. Grand Brook is not only aesthetically beautiful, it is so clearly designed to meet the safety and quality of life needs of its Residents. From senior leadership to front line staff of all disciplines, they understand dementia and the importance of individualized (sometimes outside the box) care and they do so with the most empathetic approach. They have not only embraced our Step Father, but our whole family, in navigating this process. I will be forever grateful for their care, compassion, understanding, and the peace of mind that they have provided for us.

How much time do you have? I can’t say enough great things about the building, and most of all, the staff at Grand Brook. Working as a home care therapist, I have visited most assisted livings in west Michigan throughout my career. When searching for a place for my father, I was skeptical that we would find a place that would meet our high standards and expectations. Grand Brook was rather new at the time, and I hadn’t had the opportunity visit in my professional life. I was blown away from the first visit, and continue to be thoroughly impressed. The staff is second to none from the top down. The above and beyond, individualized, compassionate care my father receives is truly one of a kind. Given his diagnosis, the transition to assisted living was not easy for him. They were more than prepared, and I felt confident from the beginning that we made the right choice. He has since made Grand Brook his home where he is thriving both physically and mentally. There is a very strong sense of family among the residents and staff, and that almost immediately felt extended to myself and siblings. They are now considered my family, and I feel that reciprocated every time I visit. I would choose Grand Brook a thousand times over.

We are thrilled with the staff and facility at Grand Brook! The residents are cared for by highly trained and caring staff. They treat the residents with love, respect and compassion. Our mother is very happy and comfortable there. Though she has very little language she was able to tell us several times she "liked her house" and "she liked living here". She moved in during Covid, and we think she was being fed at her previous home, with staff support and encouragement, she amazingly is feeding herself now! The facility is beautiful!! Clean and spacious and has a fabulous outdoor courtyard that residents can easily access !! My mom uses a walker and is able to walk anywhere she wants to go. Its easy to maneuver with lots of open spaces. The Life Enrichment program is wonderful. The program facilitator, Melissa, is loving ,kind supportive and just amazing!! She does crafts, exercises and games daily and arranges various musical entertainment. Friday is old movie night with popcorn and is a favorite! Singing old Hymns is another favorite! Mothers Day tea and fancy tea party were very fun! Having Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner with my Mom were very special too!!! And delicious!!! The meals are made in the open kitchen, so residents can see and smell what's being prepared. I have had the pleasure of eating some meals with my mom and they were delicious!! You can call ahead to make a reservation to eat with your loved one! My 92 year old mom has been at Grand Brook just over a year. If not for her wonderful care and stimulation she receives daily I don't think she would be alive. If your looking for the best care facility for your loved one, look no further!!! My family and I, can 100% recommend Grand Brook!!

3-8-2022 Grand Brook what a wonderful gem! It is a place like no other of it"s kind. Smile and hugs are the normal for the residents from the the staff at all levels from the executive director right on down. Each resident is treated as if they were the only one there. There are lots of organized activities. The2 kitchens are the open kitchen concept so residents can see their food being prepared. Nobody loses weight because the food is tasty and all they want. My wife has alzheimers and has been there for 11 months. I have had rest home experience with my 2 parents and both my wife's parents. nothing compares to Grand Brook. Duane Franzen

Grand Brook Memory Care of Grand Rapids is an amazing facility with truly compassionate-caring staff. The staff are engaged with all the residents, and make it their goal to improve the quality of life for not only the residents in the facility, but also their family members. In a very tough patient population that are at various levels of care, they meet each resident where they are at, and continue to work at progressing them to make gains in their plan of care. We switched my Mom to this care facility and it has made a night-day difference in how she has changed over the past few months under their care. I am thankful to their professionalism, time, and the love they have for all of their residents and their families. They truly make it home. Many thanks to all of the staff at Grand Brook!

We were very nervous about another move for our Mom knowing how difficult a move typically is for someone with Dementia, but we decided that the short term concerns were worth the long term benefits and we havent questioned our decision once. The staff is so caring and loving and we noticed a HUGE improvement in Mom in a short amount of time. She is so much more content and at peace. They are always looking for ways to improve the quality of their life through this difficult journey. The communication is awesome and the pictures they share help us feel connected in this very difficult time. Thank You Grand Brook for ALL you do – you are truly amazing.

I highly recommend Grand Brook! My sister and I knew we had to move our mom from a different community, but didnt know what kind of impact it would have on her. The moment she walked in, the management team and caregivers did such a wonderful job welcoming her to her new home! We have seen such a huge improvement in her since Dec.1st when moved in. What is so amazing is the management team is so hands on and spends quality time with the residents right along with the caregivers! I absolutely LOVE the pics and videos they share on what their day looks like, which is so important in these difficult times. They keep us very informed and up to date. Keep all those smiles coming, it truly warms our hearts, so THANK YOU Grand Brook!!!

We brought my mom to Grand Brook this past November after it became too difficult, and potentially unsafe, to have her at home. I was nervous because we had to move her in right in the middle of a pandemic, and I was not sure how it would work to visit her, or how they would help us still feel connected to her when we could not see her easily. Grand Brooks staff made us instantly feel at home by offering to Facetime so we could tour the facilities, and being extremely transparent with any and all questions and concerns. The staff sends pictures almost every day, which keeps us in the loop regarding what her days look like, even when we cannot physically be in the building. The activities they do, and the fun they have, fills my heart and makes me so incredibly happy that my mom is a part of such an amazing facility and a top notch group of care providers. We are so thankful for Grand Brook!
