My husband, Thomas was a patient at The Sterling Heights Rehabilitation facility from February 21, 2026 until March 17, 2026. During check in we were asked to leave all clothing items at the front desk along with a form describing all items and the count. I was happy to comply even though I was taking his laundry home. Within the first couple of loads I found his clothing labels in both the washer and the dryer. Then, near the end of his stay a complete day’s worth of clothing disappeared. I was asked to leave a description of the missing items. I did so as best I could as I had no idea what socks or underwear he had on the previous day. The fact that the stuffed toy was missing too was disconcerting as it was on his nightstand the previous day when we left for the evening at 8:00 pm. During the next week two more lists were given along with another laundry tag that had fallen off, without any response until his last day there when I was invited into the laundry area to look for my husband’s missing clothing on a rack. His clothes weren’t on that particular rack. Three days after his discharge I got a phone call that the stuffed toy had been found and we could come and pick it up. I can only imagine the volume of clothing and bedding that goes through the laundry daily. But my husband’s clothing should have never been in the laundry in the first place. Plus it took a week of daily inquires to get a response. On a more positive note the section my husband was in, Grand Traverse, was always clean and passages were always clear. The gentleman that took care of the floors always took particular pride in his work. I have to compliment the entire staff for their dedication to their work. Nurses, aides, housekeeping, and therapists were pleasant, helpful and engaging. Two aides in particular always brought a smile to our faces when we learned they were on shift whether it was during visiting hours or not. Donovan and Jazzmyn made it a point to come and introduce themselves at the beginning of their shift. The commitment to their work was always foremost. I hope they both learn of how much we appreciated their dedication. We have had a very positive experience moving our mom into Pomeroy. Laila and Tammy helped answer all of our question prior to moving her in, and went above and beyond to help me understand not only how things would look right now, but also how we can plan for the future. They went over all of the different activities and services that they offer and made us feel comfortable that this was the right choice for our mom. We also met with Kathy who told us all about the activities, and asked us questions to get to know our mom's interests. I also appreciated that Pomeroy did a pre-move in assessment of our mom to ensure they knew the correct level of care she would need. There were no surprises when we moved her in because they were so thorough with their move-in process. We had some issues at a previous facility, and Tammy offered many solutions to ensure that our mom would be safe and taken care of. I also appreciated that Mary called me shortly after mom had been moved in to introduce herself, check in, and ask how things were going. Overall, we are very happy with our decision to move mom into Pomeroy and feel that she is getting the care and socialization that she needs.

The decision to move my mom into memory care was a difficult one, but the competent and compassionate staff at Pomeroy offered expertise and caring assistance throughout the entire process. Medical oversight and services, directed by Robyn, are delivered with professionalism as well as empathy. The activities offered to residents in the building are varied and fun.The caregivers provide attentive care. Everyone in the building has made an effort to get to know our family and ease our concerns. I recommend this facility without hesitation.

I can't say enough good things about Pomeroy in Sterling Heights. My mom has received excellent care, first in assisted living and now in memory care. The apartments are really nice and the staff is exceptional - well trained and very caring. Everyone has been great but I particularly want to mention Tammy, who made the admissions process so easy; Kathy, who does an amazing job as Activities Director; and Robyn, who has done a superb job managing my mom's care. I highly recommend this facility.

Initially Pomeroy was not going to accept my dad due to the requirements issued by the hospital. Tammy and her team did further investigation and determined they could care for him. My dad has been there @ 3 months now and we could not be happier with the care he is receiving. My dad loves the care givers and has gotten close with his "community". My dad used to direct an orchestra and Pomeroy was so accommodating that they allowed for the orchestra to put on a little performance for him. Of course all residents were invited to attend as well, but what a special surprise for my dad. Overall we are so pleased with everyone there-care givers, nurses, house keepers, receptionists, cooks, etc. Thank you for taking such good care of our dad.

I began a new process several weeks ago, in which, I never experienced, a search for an assisted living facility for my brother in law. When touring assisted living facilities, I was determined to find a place with the same comfort of home. My search was daunting because as I toured five facilities it was revealed that all facilities are not effective with proficient care of the residents. The assurance that my brother in law was well taken care, meant everything to me. Again each facility varies in amenities and effort to achieve quality care. After a week, I came across Pomeroy Living Sterling. My first impression with Tammy Barkho, Leasing Director was exceptional. She took time to interact with my niece and I in the description of the services provided i.e. housekeeping, and various outside activities, spiritual activities, physical activities, mental activities, and most importantly a friendly and cheerful staff, dedicated to the well-being of the residents. Ms. Barkho was communicative, informative, knowledgeable, and pleasant as she addressed all my inquiries. Overall there were many things I was unfamiliar with but the staff also provided me the information of all the ins and outs of the comforts that would be afforded my loved one as a resident. My decision came swiftly to select Pomeroy Living Sterling because the entire team of Pomeroy Living Sterling gave me insightful in-depth information. I am most thankful to God who guided me with divine providence to Pomeroy Living Sterling.

I want to express my family's gratitude and appreciation to the entire staff at Pomeroy Living - Sterling. My Dad passed away quietly there on Feb 9, 2023 after a long battle with Dementia. My brother cared for him in-home until he could no longer give him all the attention he needed so, we made the hard decision to place him at Pomeroy. He was there for 10 months and it was the best decision we could have made for him. Every staff member he came in contact with took excellent care of him. They were attentive and caring and helped him with all aspects of his daily living there. I have to especially thank Robin Lanzon, The Director of Wellness, for all the times we called her for updates or with questions and she was always ready to talk to us about any of our concerns; and the many times I would pop into her office and she would always give me her time. My dad loved her too. She would walk by and he would get this big smile on his face and give her hugs. Thank you all for the excellent care you gave my Dad in the difficult last phase of his life. We love how the residents are involved in daily activities, and all are included at every level. My mom is happy, made lots of friends and enjoys the activities. We were very concerned about her move , but the staff went out of their way to make her transition seamless. The care givers made my mom feel at home from the first day!

I am so thankful for the team at Pomeroy Assisted Living Sterling Heights. Earlier this year we needed to move my father-in-law to an assisted living facility. We toured several facilities, and soon narrowed our focus to Pomeroy Sterling Heights. Tammy was incredibly professional, patient and caring ... providing us with all of the detailed information that we needed to make a decision. Although Dad was reluctant to move from his house, Pomeroy quickly became his home. He made friends quickly, and attended many of the scheduled activities. As one of many families who care for an elderly parent or loved one, we had reached a point where we came to what we thought was a horrible decision of putting our Dad in a nursing facility because we could no longer care for him in the condition he had reached due to age and Dementia. With a lot of guilt, many questions and concerns, we started looking into nursing and memory facilities. Pomeroy Sterling made the best impression on us by far. Our first meeting and tour with staff member Laila, made us feel very welcome and comfortable and left us feeling like we were coming into a place of caring. We made our decision to entrust our Dad to them before we even walked out of the building. We haven't regretted that decision yet. Our meetings with Tammy (Director of Leasing) and Robyn (Director of Wellness) gave us direction in all aspects of the process and helped us transition our Dad smoothly into his new home. He has been at Pomeroy Sterling 3 months and has adjusted amazingly well. He gets excellent care and attention from the staff and caregivers. He seems to think they are family and is generous with his hugs to them and receives just as many. When we visit, it feels comfortable walking into the building where we are always greeted and made welcome. They know us by name and are always available to answer any of our questions or concerns. We can easily approach any of the staff and they are always receptive in making us feel positive that our Dad is getting the best care we could ever have hoped for him. He has adjusted better than we imagined and he interacts well with his caregivers. We are thankful for this new extended "family" of his that we trust to take care of him and help him in a way we couldn't. Pomeroy Sterling is definitely the best decision we could have made. They accommodated my moms special dietary needs, and I truly believe that the great care she received allowed her to live to 101. I highly recommend pomeroy.

Update at twelfth month mark (July 2022) as Pomeroy Resident Mom continues to enjoy her apartment and stay. Woulda, shoulda, coulda questions a year later ? - NONE ! This was the most positive action we as a family have taken, as active caretakers in her life. Daily schedule, accurate monitored med program, fixed meal times, responsive staff and aides, fall alert system, visiting medical staff, field trips and daily activities have relieved many of the life issues of our mom. Plus an active family visit schedule, phone calls, occasion car ride / lunch / family event, seems to make mom a very happy camper. Thanks to Layla, Sara, Tammy, Mara, Angela, Mary, and the rest of the Staff. Update at the Eighth Month mark (March 2022) as a Pomeroy Resident, Family is happy and at ease with the positive, consistent level of care. Mom is genuinely content with her apartment at this new home. We visit and call often. Always a friendly greeting and check in at the front desk . Quiet, orderly clean and structured environment. Mom's medications, meals, services and activities are delivered as described on the website, brochures, and contract. The activities make for a full and varied day for her. The Pomeroy has enabled our family (kids, grandkids , nieces/nephews and cousins) to provide a fuller life for our Mom. Her life has been substantially enriched. An additional plus is (well behaved) family pets can be registered for visits. First Month (July 2021) review for Mom. Many thanks to Layla, Tammy, and Nurse Cathy and the rest of the staff, for their assistance in helping our family making the decisions, evaluations, and transition for Mom. Clean, positive, well run, and caring residence.

The staff made her feel welcome and at home and was very attentive to her needs. They also made us feel welcome with every visit. She loved the food and had a beautiful room. It was a bit of a drive for us to visit her, but it was worth it for the exceptional care.

It was a great experience with my wife's stay at Pomeroy, and Tammy was great at explaining everything I needed to know before deciding on Pomeroy. I had toured another AL facility (which was cheaper), but Pomeroy seemed like a better option, and I was not disappointed. I had dreaded the day I moved my wife to Pomeroy, not knowing what to expect, but Tammy made it seamless transition. As soon as we arrived, Tammy was there to greet us, and quickly got my wife acclimated to her new home. I was also impressed by how much so many of the staff care for residents...they don't treat it as 'just a job'. The building was always kept neat & tidy, which made it even better. There were plenty of activities to keep my wife busy, and she enjoyed chatting with staff & other residents, until the latter stages of her Alzheimer's disease.

Pomeroy Living in Sterling Hts is amazing! Tammy spent hours answering all our questions and concerns for my mom's care.She was not pushy and gave us all the time we needed. She made moms move from rehab easy. Mom is in the memory care unit. The aids are so thoughtful and kind to all the residents. There is plenty of activities and enough staff that they always know where mom is. She has a beautiful apartment and the food is real good too.
