I recently toured Waltonwood Main, and I cannot say enough positive things about the experience. From the moment I walked in, I felt a sense of comfort and care that’s so important when exploring assisted living and memory care options for a loved one. The facility itself is beautiful, clean, and thoughtfully designed, but what truly made the difference was Alicia Hardville. Alicia is absolutely wonderful so kind, knowledgeable, and incredibly compassionate. She took the time to listen to my concerns, answer every question with clarity and patience, and walk me through each aspect of the community with genuine warmth. She made what could have been an emotional and overwhelming process feel manageable and even hopeful. Her professionalism, combined with her personal touch, made me feel confident that my loved one would be in great hands. I left the tour feeling informed, reassured, and grateful. Waltonwood Main is lucky to have Alicia, and so are the families she supports. I highly recommend this community to anyone considering assisted living or memory care, it truly stands out.

My mother Dottie moved into Memory Care at Waltonwood Main from another community last December, and it was the best decision we’ve made. From the start, the team took time to truly understand her, what she enjoys and what brings her joy. She’s always loved being social, and now she’s thriving. The activity directors keep her engaged. Kristin often sends photos of Mom enjoying outings, games, and special events. I love seeing her smile, brings me so much peace. Alicia, the Wellness Coordinator, is an incredible leader. She is engaged with both new and long term employees to create a culture of excellence. Adjusting her schedule to make sure new employees feel supported. She leads by example to supports her team and helps create a warm, hands on environment where residents are truly known and cared for. You can tell the Waltonwood staff from caregivers to activity directors to administrators are hands-on, attentive, and fully invested in each resident’s well-being. Thank you to the entire Waltonwood Main team—this isn’t just a place to live, it’s a place to thrive. I’m so grateful my mom is part of it!

My mom moved to Waltonwood Main in June. From the minute we walked in the door and were greeted by Colleen it felt like the right fit. No matter who is at the reception desk it always feels a little like coming home when you walk in the door. Haylee, the executive Director and Kim, the Move-In Coordinator welcomed her like she was already a part of the family. Kim helped us to pick out the perfect apartment for her and she loves the ever changing views of the courtyard gardens. Knowing that Renata, the Resident Care Manager, and her outstanding team of Caregivers are looking out for moms health and safety are a huge comfort for times when we aren’t there to look out for her ourselves. They are so kind and patient and always treat her like family. Derek and his team work hard to keep everything spic and span and are a call away for whatever “housekeeping” and maintenance needs she may have. Chef Brad and the dining room crew are wonderful. They prepare home cooked meals that are healthy and appealing and if what’s on the menu isn’t your choice they come up with alternatives. They are very understanding of dietary needs and restrictions and are always on top of looking out for each individual residents needs. And Hailey, the Life Enrichment Manager and Kate the Marketing Manager, two of the newer members of the team are just as amazing. I have been fortunate to have been able to participate in a few of the fun activities with the residents and all I can say is “keep up the good work ladies”! If you are looking for a special place for a loved one I would highly suggest visiting Waltonwood Main. You won’t be disappointed.

Waltonwood Main is such an accommodating place. The seniors are genuinely happy. The management has regular activities for them to enjoy, including professional entertainers that provide exciting times to look forward to. The place is well maintained and the staff is very friendly. The location is located in a beautiful part of Rochester Hills, just north of Downtown Rochester. This is truly a 5-star place for seniors.

My dear friend has been at Waltonwood for five months. It was very a traumatic change for her as she broke her hip and will not be able to return to her home. She is a very independent woman with a sharp mind, so this was really emotional for her. The staff has been very attentive and caring. The activities, weekly entertainment and off-site outings is a big plus for Waltonwood. All the staff are very compassionate and caring to the residents. As a caregiver, it is comforting to know that she is safe and well taken care of.

My parents moved to Waltonwood Main recently and they've already had multiple instances of being unexpectedly delighted by the thoughtful staff. Here's just one example. . . I am an entertainer, so I visit places like Waltonwood to sing for the residents. At my first visit to Waltonwood after they were living there, the staff took several pictures of myself in my tux with my parents. The next morning, they received a decorated gift bag with 3 of the photos in nice frames. At another time, they received a very thoughtful card and gift bag celebrating them on Grandparents Day. Apart from the gifts (which of course are nice), they have had great things to say about the very helpful and friendly staff. We've all appreciated the kind-hearted staff and are thankful they are there to help make this time of transition as easy as possible.

Here’s just one example of the kindness and special treatment we have received from the great Waltonwood employees. We just celebrated our mother’s 101st birthday!! The staff at Waltonwood Main made it a wonderful birthday “WEEK”! There were multiple visits by staff during the week to deliver balloons, candy, flowers and just good old fashioned “happy birthday” greetings. On Saturday, we reserved the facility’s private dining room for a family dinner and joyous celebration. The birthday cake was exceptional!!! Specially made on-site by the amazingly talented pastry chef…best carrot cake Mom “ever had”. It also came with birthday wishes on chocolate the size of a plate!! The staff made sure we had everything we needed to celebrate in a very homey and family oriented setting. I will also mention, it doesn’t require a special occasion for the staff to go above and beyond. We have encountered numerous “can do” attitudes with the entire staff over the 10 months our Mom has been here. There is obviously a very strong work ethic and culture being encouraged at this facility. We are so very thankful for the caring and kind natured environment our mother is surrounded by. Thank you to all the heroes putting in the hours and hard work at Waltonwood!!! We so very much appreciate your efforts and sacrifices.

My father has been an Assisted Living resident at Waltonwood Main for a year. He loves the beautifully decorated facility and says that the food is delicious. I also think WW Main is lovely and always impeccably clean! He says that the activities director keeps them busy and is very nice. He enjoys karaoke, bingo and the live entertainment. My father recently moved to a new apartment and everyone was so accommodating to help make the transition smooth. He absolutely loves his new apartment! The care staff is wonderful and has kept me informed when any issues have come up regarding his care. I am always able to call for updates and speak with the staff regarding questions and concerns. Many thanks to Daisy, the two Sharon's and Renata for always being so helpful especially during the difficult last year with COVID restrictions. It was a blessing to know my father was safe and receiving exceptional care. The facility director, Lance, did an excellent job of keeping the resident’s safe and the families informed with weekly conference calls for updates regarding the facility and COVID. He truly cares about the safety and well-being of his residents and staff. Dan has been especially helpful with technical issues! April, Jordan, Lora, Dawn, Alyssa and the entire office, support and care staff are wonderful and very helpful. We appreciate you all! I would highly recommend Waltonwood Main.

Since Mom moved into Waltonwood at Main three years ago, a big highlight for our family has been Life Enrichment Manager Liz McMurtrie! It is obvious she genuinely enjoys interacting with the residents, and her kind and happy demeanor is infectious. Liz’s Enrichment team played a major role in pulling Mom out of a slump and back to smiling and enjoying life again. During the painful separation caused by Covid, our family has been so grateful for our weekly Zoom meetings with Mom that Liz and Kirsten have cheerfully facilitated. Liz has made one on one visits to Mom’s room with personalized activities. She also assists her with opening and reading her cards and letters, and helps her “go to church” online weekly. She even decorated Mom’s apartment for her during Christmas, tree and all! What a comfort that was for our family! We are also very grateful for the dedicated and cheerful caregivers that go the extra mile to take care of Mom’s daily needs.

Our family has been especially impressed by Life Enrichment Manager Liz McMurtrie. There is a beacon of light at Waltonwood Main in the memory care unit and her name is Kathleen Sable Colonello. She has the ability to spread joy to all. Her loving care and gentle enthusiasm spreads to all of those she cares so lovingly for. She was the light for my 97 year old mother and during the covid when I was not able to visit she cared for her as I would and I knew that at least for part of my Mother’s Day she would feel like she had loving arms around her. Kathleen is a very special and beautiful person .

Liz McMurtrie is a Life Enrichment Manager at Waltonwood on Main in Rochester, MI. Over the last several years Liz, and her assistant Kirsten, have provided exceptional care for my mother who just turned 100 years of age this past August. Due to the pandemic, it has not been possible for my brother and sister that live nearby to visit in person but Liz was able to coordinate weekly video chats with my mother for not only my brother and sister there in Michigan, but my sister and me living New England. This has been invaluable to us enabling us to carry on conversations with our mother providing her with the necessary family support she so desperately requires. Each week, Liz calls me for a video chat with my mother which typically lasts for over an hour. I greatly cherish this time with her which I recognize is my only form of personal interaction due to the pandemic. Liz’ affable personality is a great comfort to my mother and is evidenced by my mother’s countenance when Liz interacts with her. My family and I are tremendously grateful for the loving care that Liz as well as countless others at Waltonwood provide on a daily basis keeping our family at ease knowing that our mother is receiving a supreme level of care.

My dad spent two years at Waltonwood at Main with Kathleen leading the day-to-day activities in memory care. Since my dad was a people person who loved to be busy Kathleen’s program was just what he needed. She can find those special activities that turn on the light within each person. My brother and I often participated in activities: apple picking, donut dashes, cookouts, flying kites at Stoney Creek park, outings to the zoo to name just a few. It made for fun experiences for the whole family. My dad turned 101 while there, not only enjoying the experiences but became more interactive and alert. I remember when he was playing cords on a patio after listening to the guest pianists. He had never played an instrument and was quite hard of hearing even with his hearing aid, so we were amazed. He was even Santa one year, a role he used to play when us kids were little, or for any neighbor’s children. On those bad days there was a special room where he could become re-centered and relax by touching textured fabrics or watching lava lamps. Our family experience was wonderful, and I hope that you can share in similar experiences with your family at Waltonwood at Main.
