I recommend Independence Village of Plymouth to anyone looking for independent living in the area. IVP was the right place for the 18 months my mother lived there due to all of these: the activities, the kind and supportive staff, and the management and leadership team. Our family enjoyed hearing about the lunch trips she took for many months, the special events organized by the staff, her regular activities like bingo, and also the everyday dinner conversations with friends -- things she was missing out on when she lived alone before moving to IVP. When my mother needed assistance with anything, the staff responded with kindness and respect. When something in the apartment needed attention, like a request for a new grab bar, staff responded promptly. I was always struck by how, every time I walked down a hallway at IVP, staff members knew every resident by name. That kind of attentiveness and personal connection meant a great deal to my mother and to our family.

I know someone who is a current resident here. This is a good environment if one is mostly able to take care of themself. When it comes to more in-depth care, a reviewer named Lori Porter below said this and I agree with the following excerpt: "If your loved one needs a significant amount of care, go somewhere else. Corsocare (the in house care team) is disorganized and expensive, with inconsistent care". I've certainly witnessed the Corsocare team and cusine team to be extremely disconnected from one another and unorganized overall. It's extremely concerning because they need to work together to ensure meal items are correct and, even more critically, that meals are actually delivered to those who cannot go to the dining room. For example, I visited recently. My loved one did not receive certain items they had indicated on their meal tickets. Which, ok, what's a missing soup here and there? However, on another day they forgot the breakfast and lunch completely! Additionally, the staff are kind, but when doing wellness checks most are too quiet and seem to be in a rush. I witnessed multiple staff sort of just knock quietly, poke their head in the door, and turn to leave assuming everything was good before fully and thoroughly engaging with someone hard of hearing. Can not attest to the rest of Lori Porters review, but I sure hope not something my loved one has to experience.

My parents were residents at Independence Village of Plymouth and they could not have found a better home. Many thanks to Debbie Hall and all of the caring, respectful, thoughtful, friendly staff. They were always so helpful to myself being the daughter who wanted the best for her parents. I would trust Debbie and anyone who has looked out for my mom and dad's happiness there providing so much opportunity for constant friendships and so many fun things to do in a beautiful, clean, positive and encouraging environment. I had so much fun myself just going to see my parents in my interactions with everyone I came across before I even got to my parent's apartment. I would recommend IVP to anyone. Executive Chef Gerald Bailey is outstanding. He’s not only expanded the menu with a daily heart-healthy option, more fish selections, and a sugar-free dessert, but he’s also incredibly accommodating with special requests. He allows multiple modifications and prepares my meals exactly the way I order them every time. His willingness to adjust dishes has made it so much easier for me to manage my dietary needs”whether it’s blood sugar, carbohydrates, heart health, or overall calories. On top of all that, the food is consistently delicious. Highly recommend!

I'm not a resident or have a family member that is, but I've visited Independence Village of Plymouth several times and always found their staff to be friendly and caring. The common areas are always clean, well-maintained and inviting. The food is very good, and they offer many relevant and fun activities for the residents to enjoy and participate in.

My wife and I visit IVP frequently to assist with crafts and other activities. Debbie and the team at IVP are always welcoming, the facility (which people call Home) is beautiful and well kept I always make a point to stop in the cafe or dining room to say hello and have a coffee with a resident, such a pleasant atmosphere.

I have a sister in this facility and in the beginning things were different. The cleaning of the room has gone downhill. The carpet is dirty needs to be cleaned. Vacuum isn't done till a work order is placed. Im sure the cost is quite expensive. Disappointed we have to come with cleaning supplies to do what should be done in house. Step up Independence Village. Get back to the way it was when she first came there!

These are pictures of my mom’s bathroom and carpet. This is on a better day, so embarrassed when people come to visit her and have to use the bathroom. After numerous complaints, it’s still happening. My mom is spending alot of money to stay in this facility. We’ve had other issues too not just the cleanliness of the bathroom (which has been even worse than this) her phone was stolen and we were told we should install cameras in her room, which is absolutely ridiculous then her tv remote taken. To say that we are unhappy is an understatement. My mom is too fragile to move now. We spent a lot of time going to different facilities to place my mom at thought this would be good Very disappointed

I come to IVP with a group of adults with special needs to help out and it’s such a wonderful place!! The staff is so warm and welcoming- always with a smile and kind words. Independence Village was an answer to a prayer! After touring approximately 15 different communities, I decided to call IVP on the recommendation from another facility. From the first phone call with Raena, to Mary’s welcoming spirit on move in day, we have been more than pleased with the community. The employees take a personal interest in the residents. They are treated with kindness and care. The residents are happy and relaxed as are the employees. Look around and tour several communities and you will see a difference in IVP from the moment you walk in!

I usually do not write reviews but I want to provide a contrasting view to the recent unfairly critical review of this wonderful facility by a former dining room worker. My mother and father lived in a spacious apartment there for two years and my father stayed on after my mother passed away last year. I visit almost daily and I can say that the facility overall is very well-maintained and clean. My father enjoys meals three times a day in a beautiful dining room that was formerly a ballroom (the building was previously a hotel). He is very discerning as to the quality of food and he has never complained about the food being badly prepared. The kitchen staff even recently won an award for their food. The reviewer makes it seem that Independence Village is poorly run but, as a dining room worker, he is in no position to judge how the facility is managed overall or make general comments, whether good or bad. I can say that the core management and supervisory staff have been there for many years and work together like a family to provide the best possible experience for residents, who they also treat like family. The many positive reviews are valid. I looked at many other facilities when deciding whether to have my father continue to stay at Independence Village and could not find any in Wayne or Washtenaw counties that provide such a strong sense of community and who have staff who are genuinely caring and committed to the well-being of all residents. The setting, directly next to Hines Park in a former hotel with beautiful and spacious dining rooms that rival those in fine restaurants and resorts, cannot be found in institutional buildings that are often cramped with poor light and are far from nature. Residents can take walks in the large courtyard and around the building and be directly in touch with nature as Hines Park is their backyard. The apartments have very large windows, many with million-dollar views of the park and the Rouge River. I cannot say whether Independence Village would be appropriate for a potential resident who has greater needs for assistance. This would depend on their needs and can be explored with the care agency that is onsite 24-hours to help those who cannot live independently. But I can strongly recommend that you put Independence Village on your shortlist of facilities to visit and directly experience all that is offered there by meeting with staff and taking a tour. It would be very unfortunate if one questionable review by a disgruntled former dining room server prevents people from discovering a place that could provide a genuine sense of community and become a loving home.

The housekeeping services and dining experiences are excellent but what cannot be measured is the exemplary compassion, attention and care that the staff shows unfailingly! I visited Independence Village of Plymouth today and what a place! It is so vibrant with resident conversations and laughter. The staff was very friendly and seemed to know all the residents by name. I loved the large elegant dining room and they even have rehab services on site.

Both my mother and my mother in law were residents of Independence Village of Plymouth. I cannot begin to express how happy I, and my family, were with the care that they received from the staff and management at IVP. It was very apparent that their top priority was the care and comfort of the people that lived there. I was very taken by their continued graciousness, kindness, and willingness to always help, no matter what the situation was. I strongly recommend IVP if you are looking for a facility for your loved ones.

Our friend is there and the food is absolutely terrible. Maybe a decent meal once every month. I spoke with others at her table and they all agree the food is so bad, Baked potatoes are sent raw and often sandwiches are stale. Certainly nothing like the pictures they show you. Be warned! Management says they are working on it and nothing is done.

We looked around at several places where our mom could move to once her husband passed away. She could not live alone at home anymore. When we walked into Independence Village (IV) we felt at home. We knew that this was the place for mom. The people there are so friendly and attentive to your needs. They always have something fun happening for the residents. The folks look like they are having fun. Mom's room is facing the courtyard and has a beautiful view of Hines Park. The location is great. Really quiet area. Nice common areas for the residents to hang out. You can even go for a walk down Hines Drive if you want. Highly recommend this place.

The staff here is caring and wonderful. Debbie Hall goes above an beyond for you. Its very clean, the food is great, especially the Brownies. Lots of activities for the residents to do. The main lobby is cozy with the fireplace and the bird reserve is delightful in the winter when you cant go out side and bird watch. It is also nice that they have a hair salon right on site my grandma was blind and this made is easier to get her hair done by not having to leave the building. I also appreciate that IVY does a lot of community outreach and they take the time to interact with the entire community and sponsor events.

This community is the premier community in the state in my opinion. They have the friendliest staff that I have ever met. They are always willing to go above and beyond for their residents whom they consider their family. When I first stepped foot in the community I felt like I was walking into my own home simply from all of the greetings I received. It is also the cleanest community without a shadow of a doubt there is. During this time of COVID-19 there are always questions and concerns when it comes to Senior Living. The staff quickly put a plan in place and take every precaution necessary to make sure their residents are as safe as possible as well as their employees and they stay that way. I've had the pleasure of meeting quite a few staff members from Debbie, Raena, Jamie, Jennifer, Tom, Jeff, Debbie, and Billi and every one of them I consider to be a valuable asset to this community as they all have a role and a part of something bigger and that is to make sure their residents are safe, comfortable, happy, and taken care of. Today was my first time entering the facility, with the podiatrist I work with. The staff was so welcoming and friendly, and also so wonderful with the residents that live there. You can tell they really care, it was wonderful to see. Great job, IV staff!

This community is a wonderful place. There is lovely staff and the other residents are friendly. So many activities to attend on daily basis is awesome. The thought of the residents as well is amazing I would definitely recommend this community.

Everyone seems so happy from the residents to the maintenance staff. Positivity and care exude from every staff member I’ve encountered. There’s a strong sense of community when you walk the halls, everyone’s always smiling and greeting you...and everyone knows everyone’s name. I’d recommend this place to anyone.
