My family member is in the assisted living area of the community at an independent level of care. She loves her apartment space and calls it home without hesitation. She’s made friends she treasures and indicates she feels safe and secure. The staff are responsive to her needs in a timely manner and there are great activities and groups available to her both in the community and out in the larger community. She has noted that food and dining have been an issue but, ever the optimist, she celebrates when it’s going well. The coffee shop area is being utilized more fully recently and she is very happy about that improvement. As a resident, she is encouraged by leadership to speak up when she feels something needs improvement which she has done. She’s been in the community for 8 years and Medilodge is the 3rd owner during that time. It’s her home and she’s happy with Medilodge.

I can say, it's clean. The caregivers were attentive to the patients. You are allowed to check your loved ones in and out.

This medilodge has an assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing facility so it is great for care needs of all levels! Activity program is robust and has so many fun opportunities for residents to take part in!

Family member is in long term care. Because of the facility is under-staffed, residents are unable to work on the goals that are set up at the care conferences. The food is often cold when received and tasteless. They have implemented a list of available items that can be chosen. They may or may not be available. I am having to supplement meals. The majority of the staff are very nice. But, the turnover from Executive's on down seems to be high. I do have to compliment the grounds and the cleanliness of the facility.

Always understaffed. New faces almost weekly..turn over is terrible even at the top leadership. Terrible food with new contracted company. They eat at different time everyday. No consistency with meal times. Many aides have no compassion and are just there for a pay check. I would never ever recommend Medilodge of GR.

Terrible place to be as a patient. Staffing is poor and the aides could have as many as 20 patients at a time. Nurses would come in sick because of poor staffing. Food is awful, no menu to chose from. We could get a substitute meal, but we had to wait for it and it would often be cold. Therapy department is good. I went here fir rehab, but quickly discovered that this is a nursing home, not a rehab facility. Activities are offered and sometimes fun. Social worker is a joke. I 100% do NOT recommend Medi-lodge.

I have watched the care providers and the staff in all areas consistently improve in the past 2 years. The redecorating looks great, Mike in Facilities is awesome. The Activities staff is doing a great job for my brother whom I am guardian for.

My Mom moved to independent living at Pilgrim Manor nearly three years ago. We were very impressed with the staff, particularly Belinda, who was in charge of admissions, but did much more. She knew all of the residents by name and put in more hours than anyone in the place (including weekends). Belinda was there one Sunday when I flushed a toilet in the visitors’ restroom, . and water came gushing out from the supply pipe coming and flowing down the carpeted hallway. It was quite a torrent. Luckily Belinda knew who to call so that we could get into the maintenance closet and the supervisor talked me (a family member) through the process of turning off the Niagara Falls outpouring of water. Otherwise I suspect it would have flowed throughout the weekend. No emergency number (that I knew of) to call. Building maintenance left a lot to be desired & it was clear that the operation had become too great a challenge for its church-based owners to handle. That fall, Medilodge took over the operation and promised us that we would be very pleased with the changes that would be made. They said, give us two months to improve the operation. Soon after that, Belinda”who was our favorite employee and main contact”was fired. True to their word, Medilodge quickly began the infrastructure upgrades they had promised and the appearance became much more professional as long deferred projects were completed. However, many long time staff either left in frustration with personnel changes or were fired. Several aspects of the place were SO MUCH WORSE under Medilodge management. The food, in particular, was nearly inedible. I dropped in one day, and.”for the life of me”I could not identify the protein on Mom’s plate. A spoonful of dried rice with no sauce (or anything to increase its appeal) made a regular appearance on the residents’ plates. The chefs rotated in and out every few weeks or months for a couple of years. There were so many changes in the food prep team that I could not track them. We eventually learned that the chef didn’t have the power to order food, so apparently that was done at a Medilodge corporate level. Bad idea. I was very frustrated but my Mom feared that she would get the retribution for my complaints. Besides no one was really listening, and we were told by administrative staff at one point that the meal program was broken. Yikes! The upshot of the operational changes was this: Medilodge clearly cared about the impressions that family members received about the appearance of the facility, but some critical needs of the residents”including managed care and nutrition were somewhat neglected and/or mismanaged. It was true like so many other cases in patient or elder care, when profit motive becomes a primary motive, care declines to accommodate that motive. There were certainly a few concerned and engaged members of the staff, but there was also a surfeit of surly, rude and abrupt team members, and the revolving door continued. My Mom passed away a couple of months ago, and”although we miss her”we are thankful that she is in a better place. We came to call the facility Mediocre Lodge which seemed a more appropriate name. Besides, Medilodge is just a really dumb appellation.

I came into contact with Angela on Sunday (8/11/24) while dropping off an order, and saying hi to a friend, and I felt I had to leave a review. She was extremely friendly and helpful and seemed to genuinely care about the patients. I know it was only for a little snippet of time but I still feel obligated to leave a review. I don’t leave reviews unless something is atrocious or amazing and this obviously fell in the amazing category. Lol.

T was very helpful in showing me to the room of my friend. The hostess at front door, Olivia, also was very good in helping me log in. The fact that u feed and water baby ducklings and mom in courtyard was awesome. My friend who stays there is so happy to see wild turkeys and deer outside his window.

I hadn't been in the building since MediLodge took over, so I didn't know what to expect. I didn't understand the electronic entry machine, so I went to the front desk and was very well assisted. it was quite easy. They the woman I was looking to see came out of the chapel, after a bible study. We stayed right in the chapel and talked for nearly an hour. During this visit, the fire alarm sounded; she was not alarmed, so neither was I. Shortly the alarm ended. We talked through it. Then the alarm lights went off and the door was opened. I had a general sense of hospitality and welcome. I enjoyed the visit.

Friends of ours moved in about a month ago. After being on their own for 70 some years they were not looking forward to being in an assisted care establishment. Well after 2 weeks they wonder why it took them so long to make the move! Well done and glad you are there for them!

Kind of disappointed that there aren't any field trips anymore. Activities like the pumpkin decorating contest, need to be led by staff. The residents aren't self starters, and need guidance. I don't know how residents can participate in the Trunk or Treat event. I realize that Covid prohibits having trick or treaters in the building, but many use walkers and an outdoor event like this is not easy for them to enjoy.

Room 27, with the sunny window seat and rose-themed wallpaper, was my mother’s home at Pilgrim Manor for over eight years until she passed away in January 2015 at 102. Every single day in this long-term care setting my mother received attentive care from all the staff -- maintenance, housekeeping, dining services, along with the entire skilled medical staff. Also, the people who provided the daily health care, the nursing assistants and nursing staff, were always supportive and alert to my mother’s health and social needs. My mother benefitted from many other excellent services as well: religious services; Popcorn Wednesdays; music programs; exercise classes; visiting therapy animals; social-worker help; along with field trips to Meijer Gardens; Russ’ restaurant; and Robinette’s orchard. In the most recent years, my mother took advantage of Pilgrim Manor’s in-house vision, dental, and podiatry services. This allowed her to get the care she needed without the struggle of travelling to these medical appointments. At the end of her life, expert hospice care was a great source of comfort and support to my mother and her family. In closing, one of the most important gifts Pilgrim Manor provided was to help my mother continue to live with a sense of pride by being able to entertain her family and visitors. She made great use of the outdoor courtyard, patio, caf©, and library. She would often comment that she had served dinner by having us sit down for a meal with her in the caf©. This gave her a sense of providing for her guests’ comfort and hospitality. This was a big deal for my mother! Pilgrim Manor truly was my mother’s home-away-from-home. She was so fortunate.
