Reviews Brookdale Farmington Hills North
November 2023
My family member was originally in another memory care facility which was okay. My kids and I were hoping for something more and we ended up moving my wife to Brookdale Farmington Hills North. We have been very pleased with the facilities and the excellent staff. I just found out that the mother of one of my friends lived there 10 years ago. When our friend visited my wife she mentioned to a staff member that 2 staff members were particularly supportive and loving to her mother. They were both still at Brookdale. It is quite a compliment that the staff members have stayed for a long time!

If Brookdale could fix their labor problem (rotating doors of health care workers), this would be a great place. BUT, as anyone knows, this makes or breaks the care. My father-in-law was left sleeping most of the day with dirty clothes. They woke him for meals but when he refused to have help eating, they gave up. No strategy for helping dementia patients? And don't get me started on showers. When we finally moved him to a beautiful, caring, loving private home (really the way to go!!), they were appalled with his hygiene. Before moving your loved one to this place, check out out private homes in the area! But do NOT use "A Place for Mom." Call hospice companies and get referrals. Then visit and see how the other residents are cared for.

My mom has been at Brookdale Farmington Hills North for 3.5 years. The staff is very friendly and attentive to her specific needs. I feel like they really care about her. They have persevered through all of the covid restrictions and staffing shortages that are going on at all health care facilities. The newer nurses and director are available to contact with any concerns. Brookdale has accommodated her gluten free diet. It was very difficult to find any facility that would do that. Lots of activities and they encourage her to participate in them.

My father transferred from another Brookdale when we moved him back to our home state of Michigan. So glad we did! The staff is wonderful and the facility is very fresh and clean.

Brookdale Farmington Hills North is the best Memory Care home we found for our family member. She made a rapid adjustment to her new home at Brookdale and has live there nearly three years - through the COVID pandemic. Despite myriad challenges posed by the pandemic and changes in management and associates, Brookdale Farmington Hills North remains the standard bearer for memory care. The past few years were challenging for everyone - residents, families and employees. But the dedicated Brookdale team saw it through and our family member is doing as well as we can expect given her condition. I have direct experience with family members having been in other area homes and with the challenges the industry has faced over the past few years; the Brookdale management team is trustworthy, competent and responsive in addressing issues and there are many dedicated and compassionate care associates - the BEST! I am exceedingly grateful for everything the Brookdale team does to care for our family member - thank you!

My mom has been a Brookdale resident for many, many years and almost 2 years ago (during covid lockdown) needed to move to BFH North. The transition was seamless and staff were wonderful easing her in. My mom is enjoying living here, has made friends and the staff are wonderful. So respectful to and understanding of each residents needs. The facility is clean, has recently undergone some upgrading and that was done smoothly while not disrupting the resident's routines. Social activities have started back up again both in the facility and getting residents out into the community. It's so nice knowing that though your loved one has dementia, they are still able to find joy due to activities and people who surround them. As her family, we feel comforted knowing she is so well taken care of, is safe and secure. Communication with staff, either in person, phone, or email is regular and any questions I have are always answered to my satisfaction. It takes a special kind of person to work with individuals at this stage of their lives. BFH North, meets our needs.

I’m coming back to leave a review for this place, I worked here through agency & the director here, Diane, is amazing. She’s serious about her facility, and she HELPS her workers. If something is ever wrong she’ll solve it immediately, and she LOVES her residents. If this facility wasn’t almost an hour away from me, I would probably work here.

Wonderful Community. Staff is friendly and helpful. If you have a question they always have an answer. Have adapted to the pandemic and have stayed on top of keeping everyone safe and healthy. All vaccinated, made a plan for indoor visits and keeps all family members informed. So happy we decided to move my Dad here, it was the right decision.

My father in law has been at this wonderful facility for over two years. We have been blessed by the staffs kindness and prompt attention to any questions or concerns we may have had. A wonderful environment for dad, the staff always treats the residents as if they were family. Would highly recommend.

This is an excellent facility and community with wonderful, caring and competent staff and management. My family member moved into Brookdale Farmington Hills North about a year and a half ago and - surprisingly! - made an immediate and very positive adjustment. She feels at home there. She enjoys participation in all activities. She has made friends there, which has been crucial over the past year given the restrictions on visitation. That brings me to perhaps the most important thing I have to say in this current public health crisis: it is nothing short of amazing that this facility was able to get ahead of the curve on the COVID-19 pandemic and establish solid infection control practices to minimize the risk to residents and staff. While it is anguishing to not be able to visit, I would much rather know that she is healthy and in an environment that is rigorous about keeping everyone safe. I understand the challenges having been part of the long-term care response because I have been directly involved in the response in Washington State. I know first hand the difference that a robust and consistent infection control program makes - it is plainly a matter of life and death and Brookdale has succeeded. Everyone working at this home is to be commended and supported for their service to the people who live there. If I ever become disabled by dementia, I want to go to a Brookdale home - thats the highest praise I can offer. Final comment for anyone who may read this: dont be dazzled by the chandelier effect of other facilities that may look good, but frankly dont measure up to this one.
January 2021
very disappointed and sad one of my mom's fellow inmates just walked into her room and approached her bed, I escorted him out, but what if I wasn't there? another time a patient was calling for help for 30 minutes, I finally went to see if I could help. It appeared that he had vomited on himself while he was sliding out of his wheelchair. I went to find a staff member. She said "well there are only 2 of us here, that's not vomit, it's his dinner" understaffed = neglect and danger

My mom has been living here for 1.5 years. She was previously living at an assisted living facility but required more nursing care and supervision. All of the staff have been wonderful! My mom receives excellent care and attention from all of the staff. She is very happy living there.I dont have to worry leaving her at BFHN. They really care about the residents and go out of their way to meet all of their requirements. I am confident that my mom is getting the care she needs. Communicating with the nursing staff has been excellent, whether it is through a phone call or an email. Always a prompt response.Lots of activities every day!
August 2020
The support team, staff members, caregivers, administration - every single person associated with BFHN is compassionate, caring, and kind. My family was lost until we found this team and they have truly changed the life of my sister. We cannot give enough praise for the professionalism and loving care provided every single day.

A huge thank you to Amie Schulz with Brookdale Farmington Hills North for working with A Place for You and our client. During the COVID-19 epidemic touring senior living communities is not possible as they are not allowing visitors during this time to protect their residents. Amie took the time to give my client a personalized virtual tour! My client was able to view the communitys amenities, dining, and living spaces. My client had the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the life-enriching environment their memory care community has to offer in real time! Thank you Amie!
February 2020
Responsive management and compassionate care. My family member has adjusted well and is happy living at this home.
February 2020
My mom couldnt feed herself coming here. She received an excellent plan to reduce meds and get her cognitive- while the previous place medicated her to stop anxiety. The food is eaten to a clean plate. It is very difficult to have a memory care place work for independence and yet under control. Diane the Director has so many balls to keep in the air with people declining in health- it is amazing their nimble reactions and slowing down issues. Sarah is wonderful at keeping me informed on supplies and my moms desire to call when I cant personally visit. Renee is the best. She has given my mom a personal hair wash when mom refuses her shower repeatedly. These negative comments are frustrating to read since I have witnessed different.
September 2019
My mother has been here for almost 2 years and the care has been extraordinary. We have found the staff and management to be caring and approachable. In the first month my mom asked to go home, but now Brookdale feels like home to her.

The atmosphere is homey and attractive and the staff is warm, gentle and caring. Also, the food is delicious. In addition, the life enrichment staff are wonderful and come up with terrific activities. Finally, the managers are very caring and responsive and the nurses are on top of all the residents health issues. Great place for my loved one! She is loved and we deeply appreciate that!
