Allegria Village – Reviews
March 2023
Careful, the majority of these happy replies are when Henry Ford Village ran the place. They ended up with money problems and the Allegra, a company “for profit” took over in 2021. I will tell you my monthly cost has gone up appreciatly since Moved in in 2013, even this year although the company told me “there would not be ANY increase for three years!

Quality has suffered since the new management took over. Specifically the: - Quality of the food and number of choices - Appearance of the buildings and landscaping - Hand soap in the men's room in the assisted living area was out each week I visited. - Availability of physical therapy for my dad was so undependable he moved to another facility. - Availability of nursing staff during the night shift was sparse. My dad could not get taken care of. We hope things will improve when he returns.

The Village is conducive to carefree and independent living. It is equivalent to living in a five star hotel - BP Resident Clarence Coleman

Henry Ford Village is very nice. The staff helpful from the beginning through the move in and afterwards.

I am a very independent person who finds it difficult to ask for help. During the time I moved in I underwent challenging circumstances. I was at a rehab facility and couldnt return to my home where my husband was residing with 24 hour care. He was awaiting admittance to Henry Ford Villages Assisted Living department. During this time I needed to be close to him therefore, my daughter and caregiver worked with the resident counselor and move in coordinator to select and prepare an apartment for us. The staff has made it comfortable for me to ask for assistance. They are compassionate, accommodating, kind and efficient when contact them. Due to the pandemic, initially it was difficult to contact my husband in assisted living, but Michael was accommodating and resolved the matter.

Prior to moving to Henry Ford Village during the pandemic, I felt a bit depressed because of isolation. I have had a wonderful experience meeting new friends and having the ability to partake of a variety of activities and events. I also enjoy church services to in the chapel.

My family and i have had a positive experience. I am happy and satisfied with my move to Henry Ford Village. I explored various senior living communities and I think I made the best choice for myself.

The organizational culture is excellent. It has been so even during the recent difficult times. In this era of covid, people have been helpful and supportive. Residents can be as social as they like or as independent as they wish. Sometimes just knowing others are there makes a difference for the person and-or their family. The staff has performed well and they have been very accommodating. Not to be underestimated is access to medical care. Emergency care is available by alarm in each apartment. Primary care is also available at Beaumont Geriatric Satellite Medical Center located right in HFV. Access to services in Audiology, Dentistry, Optometry are Podiatry are available. Transportation is available to medical appointments and other services. This is invaluable for those of us who no longer drive. Shuttle service is available for grocery shopping. medical appointments as well as other activities and locations. The shuttle drivers are outstanding folks. They are friendly and helpful. Part of the backbone of the organization Dining Room staff are friendly and helpful and interacting with the young people on the wait staff has been a great experience. They learn to work with older adults and we get to hear all about what todays young people are up to in their studies and future plans and goals. All in all, it is a fine solution for those who want to downsize and escape worry but enjoy a beautiful environment with friends and activity.

Last year my wife was in Rehab after major back surgery, multiple fusions. The staff was friendly and helpful in every way possible. The therapists had a tough job but they did it well. They were so good that she walked out of there unassisted, no wheelchair, no walker, no cane. Based on my wifes experience if I or her ever need inpatient rehab the Henry Ford Village is where it will be.

Food was very good! They always asked if I wanted a snack or something to drink.

The first thing that strikes the visitor to HFVillage is its large, beautiful campus and secondly the all-round friendliness of the Community. Those were my very first impressions too. Though my initial visit was on a grey, cold, rather bleak December morning, I came away with the feeling that I could live here. It was a quick decision. Well, a half dozen or so years later, the positives have been amply reinforced by the many conveniences, amenities, and possibilities to live a full, interesting and rewarding life all tucked within these 30-plus acres. Our residents and staff come from all walks of life, each bringing something unique to the Village. Outside, there is greater Detroit -- rich in culture, sports, restaurants, nature. An interesting mix. Just how really good HFV is was brought home over the course of the Covid crisis. From the start, management was prepared with physical-distancing and sanitizing protocols in place. Residents were asked to stay in their apartments -- like clockwork, meals delivered 3x daily by truly friendly staff; groceries and packages dropped off at our apartments; physical fitness classes broadcast via our own in-house community TV (ctv) and via zoom. Importantly, HFV management kept us briefed daily via ctv. And with the start of summer, dining services introduced freshly-grilled lunches outdoor-cafe-style, albeit with physical-distancing in place. They proved to be hugely popular. Life went on. Far better than anyone could have expected. Impressive. Naturally, we cant wait to see the end to Covid. But we do know that with our HFV management and big-hearted staff, we can ride it out again ... if necessary. And so our families can rest easy knowing that we can rest easy in this exceptional Community. Happy to call it home.

Therapy was great and nursing staff were very kind.

I couldnt be more satisfied with my rehab stay. Everything was excellent and I would recommend this facility to anyone.
April 2020
We moved here in January. From our first contact with staff and residents we knew we made the correct choice for this phase of our lives. The experience during the Pandemic only reinforced that opinion. although we live in Independent Living, we are so happy to give up some of our independence in order to be so well cared for. The basics are supplied and the many amenities in normal and in this time enhance our living. We continue to invite our friends out there to come join us.
April 2020
Living conditions are lovely and designed to your taste. We are safe during the Covid 19 scare. We receive food delivered to our door. Our surroundings are beautiful especially now that Spring flowers are popping out of the ground. Come join us after you do a virtual tour on the web.

HFV is a wonderful stress free life! No yard to mow, no snow to plow - beautiful landscaping and caring staff! Friendly neighbors who are keeping the recommended social distance but still waving and promising hugs when it is all over!
March 2020
I love the compassionate comfort care of the seniors, especially transitioning from independent, to assisted living, to skilled care and end-of-life care. There are luxury living quarters and beautiful dining areas and also guest suites for visiting family with all the comforts of home. My parents have been happy here for over 20 years.
December 2019
We are so thankful for HFV. My grandparents bought their condo there in 1995. The apartment, the community, the restaurants, and the staff have all been amazing. 5 years ago it became clear my grandparents couldnt live independently anymore. My grandparents were able to transition to assisted living. My grandmother turned 94 yesterday and has severe dementia. I am so thankful for the care she receives on the cognitive care floor. I visited her today to celebrate her birthday and Christmas. It is so comfortable to be and comfortable to leave knowing the care she is receiving is top notch. She picked where she wanted to spend her twilight years and its a good place.
May 2019
My husband and I have lived here for almost five years and are very happy with our decision to sell our home and move into our beautiful two-bedroom, two-bath corner apartment! Living at Henry Ford Village is nearly worry free and the staff are friendly and helpful. There are tons of activities and clubs to join and excellent fitness classes as well. We love to travel and it is so nice to be able to just lock the door and leave, knowing everything is secure while we're gone.
May 2019
Having served on staff at Henry Ford Village for over 22 years, I can attest it is a great place to live and work. In terms of culture, atmosphere, amenities, and the quality of the people who live at Henry Ford Village, nothing compares. It's tops in every category. It's one of the friendliest and most active communities to be enjoyed. Uniquely, residents take the lead on the programming and enjoy over 150 different clubs and activities (mostly led by residents). Golf season starts in a couple weeks, and folks are itching to go. No matter the interest, there seems to be a club or group for everything.
May 2019
We have lived here for almost 9 years and the experience has been wonderful! We have over 151 Clubs as well as an Aquatic and Wellness Center. Exercise classes are held at various times of the day 6 days a week. Make an appointment to come and see what Senior Living can be.
May 2019
I have lived here over 20 years and have appreciated knowing that I was living in a safe place that had many things to offer. I appreciate all the activities, the onsite clinic, bank, restaurants, and most of all the Chapel where both Protestant and Catholic congregations have regular services. Dining services offer food that will beat just about every other retirement facility. Bus transportation to stores and off-campus medical appointments is a wonderful plus and helps make my life easier. Five Stars.
April 2019
HFV is very clean and organized. All the people that I have talked with while getting my brother-in-law settled have been wonderful! I was very impressed with the amount of activities they have and the daily menu!
December 2018
I have experienced a great relationship with the Henry Ford Village when the first-phase of their plan was completed. Just going to their first open house my husband Said, Our family memories of the first Henry Ford Village built will always be in our hearts as a couple. Young @heart. 63 years later , l still feel it is a great place to live as you age with Graditude looking at how happy my friends are that are residents of my favorite place Henry Ford Village. We wish to thank Henry Ford Village for your generosity in hosting the location for our December program "Starting or Jump-Starting a Planned Giving Program." Our members always enjoy attending a program in the Great Lakes Dining room -- which is always so beautifully decorated for the holidays. Lunch was delicious and your staff are all courteous and quite helpful. Lori B. Angel, Executive Director Planned Giving Roundtable of Southeast Michigan

Beautiful place to live !!! Everything is maintained and very clean.... and the people are very friendly !! Highly recommend this facility to anyone who's looking...
June 2016
My Mom, Mickey Stringer, has been at Henry Ford Village from 2010 until her recent journey to Heaven on July 2, 2015. Mom loved her time in Independent Living in HS 103. She made many friends, took part in lots of activities, church, and movies! She especially loved meeting her "gang" for dinner at Great Lakes Dining Room, after which they would sit on the couches across from Great Lakes and talk with all residents coming and going -- or play cards in the same location! Mom's only regret was that she had not moved to HFV sooner! Her apartment was right around the corner from the Medical Center, which was reassuring to her family! She had the large one bedroom apartment, which was two doors from a side entrance where she parked her car at the beginning. After 2 years, she decided she did not really need her car any more. The staff were always helpful, and the food was great and varied. Our family would recommend HFV highly!
November 2015
It's a great place after retirement that becomes a community for you, where you bond with many people through the variety of opportunities available. Each time I visit, I learn more. This is not the end of the line here, it's a beginning of new experiences. My boyfriends mother had been here many years and I can tell in the last 18 months that I have known her that she takes pride in this establishment.
April 2015
