The Avalon of Bloomfield Township – Reviews
January 2023
Avalon Assisted Living has truly been a blessing for my mom and our family. We moved our mom in 3 years ago, after she suffered a stroke and became paralyzed on her right side. When we moved her in the facility was under a different name and management. Before Matt took over as the manager the facility had some issues, I won't get into that because it's not the point, but I would never recommend them at that time. But Matt has made an incredible turnaround. My mother has been showered with attention, care, and respect by Avalon's staff; they are always patient with her despite how difficult it can be to help her with everyday activities such as showering, changing, and using the bathroom. Despite her physical challenges, my mother still has a sharp mind and she tells me daily how much she loves Avalon's staff. Matt has shown remarkable dedication to Avalon and has gone above and beyond many times. My family greatly appreciates Matt and the team at Avalon of Bloomfield.

We have only been there shortly but I can tell you after reviewing quite a number of other assisted living/memory care facilities I walked into this Avalon and immediately knew this was the one. From the beautiful setting to the relaxed residence and the friendliness of everybody, as well as The ambience, amenities offered, etc. I knew this was a home for dad. After a tumultuous hospital and rehab stay they took my father in as if he was their own grandfather and in a very short period of time just about everybody knew him. Unfortunately he threw some blood clots and had to be re-hospitalized and while waiting for him to come home to the avalon every time I went up there everybody asked for him it was very heartwarming. This is a place that truly seems to care 100% about their residence I would highly recommend it. Five stars

My father moved yesterday into First & Main of Bloomfield Township. It was very clean inside and very nicely decorated as far as the aesthetics. It was a very nice place. The director was very helpful, very friendly, and helped me with all the paperwork. The director also worked with the subacute rehab where my dad was at, in getting all of the paperwork done and all of his prescriptions. The staff is very, very nice. They welcomed my dad, and they all came in to visit and see how he was doing. He has a studio apartment. Its very spacious, very clean, very nice, it has a large bathroom, and its easy to get a wheelchair inside. The shower did not have a lip, so it was easy to transfer and get him around in there. It was a large open space, and the price was actually fairly decent. They were running a special at the time, but even without the special, my dad needs a lot of care. Instead of paying one amount for the room and then you pay a la carte fees for everything else, which wouldve been incredibly expensive for my dad, in this place, a lot of his care was grouped into one kind of price tag and then added on to the room, so it ended up being less expensive than some of the other places. Its also not that far from my house. He really liked his dinner last night. They were very accommodating with different types of food. My dad needs things cut up a lot smaller, they were very accommodating with helping him with that, his diet, and things of that sort. They have activities. He hasnt really been to any, but what Ive seen seems to be very good for what they can do in the building. They do things in small groups. They have a pendant system, so that the resident can either wear it around their neck or they can wear it kind of almost like a wristwatch if they wanted. For my dad, its crucial because he has trouble getting out of bed and things by himself, so he sometimes needs assistance. He can push that and people will come and help him. Its close to St. Joes, its literally 5 minutes down the road. So that was nice that he would have a hospital nearby.

Outstanding care for my dad.He was there a short time, but the compassion, care, and service from the staff was excellent. They even coordinated a birthday party for him on short notice, and all the details were taken care of.
