After visiting one assisted living facility after another every day for more than a week, I met Lea Rust at Stroudwater Lodge and instantly knew it was the right place for my father-in-law. Lea is so down-to-earth and so in touch with the very human side of assistive care. Not only was my chat with her informative and reassuring, witnessing her interactions with residents made apparent the high level of care offered here. Of course, the facility itself was welcoming and homey, clearly focusing on the personal needs and comfort of residents. Lea and professional staff went above and beyond to make sure we placed my 87-year-old father-in-law in the appropriate environment. Needless to say, he is thriving at Stroudwater.

My mother has been there for 10+ months and the experience has been nothing but outstanding. She's made tons of friends, the food has been fantastic, and the staff are SUPER attentive and caring. I moved her from another facility which was MORE expensive and deserves a 1-star rating b/c they're so bad. If you're looking for a GREAT place for your mom or dad, you'd be very hard pressed to find any other facility that's on par with Stroudwater.

My mother relocated from out of state to Stroudwater Lodge within the past year. It was a huge transition and move for her from her home of 60 years to an independent/assisted living community in a different state. From the moment I walked through the doors for the initial tour, I felt the warmth, authenticity and positive energy that permeates throughout Stroudwater Lodge. The buildings and grounds are beautiful, but it is the staff that truly make Stroudwater such a special and loving place. Much to our surprise, my mom has adjusted beautifully and is very happy overall living at the Lodge. The activities are interesting, intellectually and physically stimulating with a variety offered each day. Art, music, exercise classes and so much more keep my mom engaged and busy. She has made some really good friends and has the best of both worlds as to plenty of socialization but also a lovely and comfortable fully equipped apartment to relax in when she wants some downtime. My brothers and I have peace of mind knowing my mom is a part of a caring community that offers so much. Thank you Nicole, Lea, Becca, Paige, Laurie, and all of the wonderful staff at Stroudwater Lodge for everything that you do to make Stroudwater Lodge the special place that it is!!!

My mother lived at Stroudwater Lodge for eight months. During that time she loved the community, the caregivers, and her whole experience there. I remember how warmly she was greeted on day one and how everyone was welcoming. She made friends with others who sat at her dinner table as well as her caregivers. I always felt she was in good hands. The Lodge was always well maintained and I would hear the staff always speak respectfully not just to my mother but to everyone. The staff kept me apprised of any changes and responded to questions promptly. Even when it was time for my mother to move to a nursing facility, the staff at the Lodge made the process easy. I would highly recommend this community.

My 101 year old dad has been there since early July. The staff has been wonderful and he has been able to easily make friends. He tells me he is so busy that sometimes he doesn't get to read his newspaper until late afternoon. His 1 bedroom apartments is perfect and he tells me the food is very good. I was initially worried about the transition but when I see or talk to him he tells me this is the best move he could have made at this time in life. My thanks to all the staff at Stroudwater Lodge!

My wife and I and our two cats, have been here for one year. We really like the staff here. The management is very accommodating , and work as a team. Management staff does other jobs as the need arises. The Wellness Team is excellent, and responds quickly to calls. We,re enjoying our life here as everything is taken care of for us. The dining rooms staff are wonder. They know your name, and are polite and courteous. The meals are superb, with a great variety of entrees.

Our Mom had a very tough time with the loss of her husband of 30 years. Health issues and the required sale of her long-time home and large property made life much harder for her. The experienced staff at Stroudwater Lodge provided comfort and personal attention. Their caring assistance helped her transition to a wonderful 1 bedroom apartment. They made her feel at home, introduced her to some new friends, and now Mom is thriving and feels connected to a community. She participates in activities,, eats regular, healthy meals with friends , and has help anytime she needs anything. Our family feels welcome and comfortable visiting with her there. It is never easy for someone to give up there independence and it was no different for my mother in law. Without the help of the staff from Stroudwater Lodge we would not have been successful in her transition. When we initially approached the conversation with her we were met with great resistance, but through a partnership with the Stroudwater Lodge team she was able to see the benefit of moving to their facility. Their main concern was that my mother in law felt comfortable with the move and they went above and beyond with visiting her at her home to answer her questions and allowing her to visit the facility and participate in activities so that she would get a better sense of the community she would be moving into. While we struggled to get her there initially she absolutely LOVES it there and is thriving with the social aspect of her daily life. We find it difficult to get in touch with her because she is always out of her room taking part in the social activities and spending time with her new friends. When we visit she continuously speaks about how kind they are to her, how clean the facility is and how thankful she is for having such a wonderful place to live if she can't live in her own home safely. We can not thank them enough for their partnership during a very difficult transition and for being so wonderful to her!

Our family couldnt be more pleased with the experience at Stroudwater Lodge. From the first contact with Lea and Nichole, to the Wellness staff, to the reception desk, each interaction has been of the highest customer service. Stroudwater Lodge has been a life changing experience for my mother. She has lived here for over a year, and as of this review she still raves about the food, the staff, the activities and overall expresses her absolute happiness. For several years, she had been living alone in a rural setting in Southern Maine. Moving here has allowed her to live her best life. At 74, she is thriving! She is very social and participates in so many activities that she enjoys. Its heartwarming to hear her talk about her day and how fulfilled she is. The staff genuinely care about their residents. At our initial interview, I was asked to share Mums hobbies, interests, and favorite foods, among other items. When visiting (before appropriate pandemic restrictions had to be implemented), the staff expressed their care, compassion and kindness to Mum and myself. There is a personal vibe to this place that is appreciated and palpable. I sincerely cannot speak highly enough of Stroudwater Lodge. I am grateful to everyone who works there.

Stroudwater Lodge is a beautiful facility with positive and caring staff members. There are many daily and appropriate activities for the residents which keep them engaged at various levels. This is a place where Everybody Knows Your Name! I tell my friends that living at Stroudwater is like being on a cruise ship. Meals (3 every day) are served in fine dining fashion, complete with tablecloths, menus, and table service. It has a real elegance and lovely social atmosphere. My Mom had never lived away from her home and was resistant to trying out an assisted living facility. After my brother and I researched, visited and interviewed area senior residences, we thought Stroudwater Lodge would be a good fit for her. I am happy to say that Mom is Thriving! From Day 1 of moving in, my mother became engaged in the daily activities which she absolutely enjoys. Imagine our surprise when we saw the masterpiece she created with water colors! We never knew our Mom had artistic talent! She is up in the morning and does not return to her room until bedtime. Mom enjoys interaction with the residents and staff and, in reciprocal fashion, they enjoy her. Everyone is respectful of one another thus creating a very calm and positive social atmosphere. Family members and friends are welcome to visit at anytime. Her one bedroom apartment is welcoming and there are areas in the Lodge where residents can entertain guests. The most important factors are that her medications are administered at the correct times and she is receiving good nutrition. Her care plan is tailored based on her personal needs as well as conversation with family members to find a good fit. There are periodic checkins and whenever I have a concern there is always someone to follow up on her care plan. I have confidence in knowing that her needs are met. For anyone reading this review, I suggest that you take a good look at all of the activities, which are inclusive of the price. Talk to the residents and ask them what they like about The Lodge. I can say that my Mom is enjoying life again. This makes us all very happy. There is no price one can place on this satisfaction.

My mom has been living at Stroudwater Lodge since February, 2017. I worried about the transition for Mom. An independent woman with specific likes and dislikes, I worried shed be unhappy. She left her home, friends and a routine in northern Maine which she loved, for quieter, less familiar surroundings. ----------------------------- I worried for nothing.-------------------------------- Mom moved in, familiarized herself with the new surroundings, made friends and is thriving. She misses her home, driving and being independent but realizes Stroudwater Lodge has her back. One day I called her and there was no answer. I called the front desk to check up on her and was told shed gone out dancing with the girls; an activity provided by the Lodge. She plays bridge, bingo, attends music and entertainment events on a weekly basis. To say shes happy is an understatement. To say Im relieved is also an understatement. Im ecstatic beyond words. Thank you Stroudwater Lodge for your caring, coaxing and all around great care.

Our mom found her forever home at Stroudwater Lodge two years ago December when they just opened. From the moment we chose her apartment, everyone on the staff were welcoming, kind and went above and beyond to ensure she was happy. It’s very comforting to know that Mom is being provided for with an environment of pleasant, sunny rooms radiating with warmth and stylish appeal. As you enter the well-appointed atrium area receptionists, Lindee and other receptionists always greet you with a warm and engaging welcome. Chef Jaime and his staff provide nutritious meals served by outstanding attendants. Becca and Elaine keep the activity calendar busy with daily and well thought out activities plus weekly entertainment from local performers. All in-house staff, including maintenance, genuinely care for their residents, and even though Mom doesn’t have an official caregiver, at this point, everyone there is so pleasant and hard working. And we can’t overlook the cleaning crew who maintain Mom’s apartment weekly. These happy staff members are the product of the Director, Courtney who always has outstretched arms and approachable for any issue. When Mom’s contented at this stage in her life, then my brother and I, along with the entire extended family, are at peace knowing that when she lays her head on the pillow her day was full and enjoyable. What more can you want for a parent?

I could not be happier with the life my mother is having at Stroudwater Lodge. The greatest thing is that her life has purpose and a strong sense of community. My mother has made incredible friends, people she cares deeply about. And she feels that others truly care about her. The staff is incredible. They are friendly and kind and they really know all of the residents. Whenever I encounter a staff person I am always warmed by the fact that they know me but most importantly that they know my mother so well. They are always helpful and carry positive light with them as they go about their daily work. The facility is lovely, lots of natural light and open spaces as well as cozy spots where residents can gather in small groups. And lastly, the food because we all know the elderly are very picky about their food. I am so happy with the food choices. Most importantly, it is fresh food and made from scratch. I eat there from time to time and it is absolutely delicious. The biggest result is that my mother has been so much healthier at Stroudwater and I believe it is partly due to the fresh, healthy food, balanced meals and maybe the love and good energy that goes into the making of it. The wait staff in the dining room are all friendly and fun. Stroudwater Lodge is really an amazing place. It has made me feel so much more at ease. I know my mom is happy and cared for.
