Having lived at the Highlands for almost two years, I can honestly say that it was the best retirement decision that I could have made and has exceeded my expectations. The residents and staff are friendly, caring and supportive. I am grateful to be a Highlands resident.

I just had a great experience with maintenance here My washing machine developed a problem and I was unable to wash my clothed with it.Due to all the problems with supply and demand now,I expected a long delay in obtaining the broken part and doing the repair.Much to my surprise, the part arrived in a short time and the repair was finished in a very short time by two very capable and extremely pleasant maintainance employees, Jim and Ernie and I thank them both for their quick response.

An absolutely wonderful place to live. Numerous activities in both assisted living and independent living areas. The memory care unit is bright and cheerful with the most caring staff.

We bought one of the cottages last spring and have been living here now for 7 months. We love it here. We live on a dead-end street and have the most wonderful neighbors. We really enjoy living all on one floor with an attached, heated garage. And we are delighted that all the yard work gets done professionally and we get our house cleaned every two weeks. It makes life so easy! Our house looks over a wooded ravine which gives us a lot of privacy, we have wonderful walking trails nearby. We also love the programs and activities here such as the chorale singing group, the fitness center, the movie theater, and the many live music programs available. There is always something to do if you are so inclined, or you can just enjoy the peace and quiet of your own home and neighborhood.

Ive been working at the Highlands as a server since November, and its been the best first job someone could have. The associates I work with are all the kindest individuals youll meet, who put the residents first before anything. Whether its their health or making sure they get the best quality care, the residents are always number one priority. Also, whether its getting a job at the Highlands or if its sending a family member-retiring here, I strongly urge both because its an amazing community!

We are so pleased with our experience here. We clearly made the right decision. Our needs were probably different than most of the residents. We have a wonderful house in South Bristol and we decided to give up our residence in Washington DC but SB was not a good place for a 90 year old to spend the winter and the Highlands also offered an anchor to windward as we both got older. Lots of other factors and issues and the Highlands solved them all.

After visiting many like communities, The Highlands will be our retirement destination - location, resources, obviously well-maintained facilities, and great people - especially Ms. Stephanie OLeary. Her title, Marketing and Sales Director, understates her thorough and professional approach to her responsibilities while exhibiting a warm and friendly personality.

During the pandemic, management and associates have done an outstanding job to ensure that we are kept informed, kept safe and still maintained a great place to be retired in. We have been in our own little bubble but supported in every way.

My husband and I are residents of The Highlands, a Grace Management retirement community in Topsham, Maine. We spend our winters in Florida. Recently, Chelsie Mitchell, Executive Director at The Highlands reached out to us to ask how we were and whether or not we had received a Covid-19 vaccination. We responded that the vaccine rollout in Florida was slow and we were #17,346 in line to receive our shot in Sarasota County. We have pursued other options but without success. Chelsie immediately contacted Cathy Padham, a Regional Director of Sales at Grace, in Florida. Within two hours Cathy had appointments scheduled for us at Heritage Oaks in Englewood, another Grace Management community and a short drive for us. She had a back-up location for us the following week in case that clinic did not work. We sent all of our paperwork to Cathy, and when we arrived at Heritage Oaks yesterday we were warmly greeted by staff there. We received our vaccines quickly and efficiently. Had Chelsie not been checking on all of her residents and reached out to us, and Cathy not been so quick to respond, we would still be frustrated at the difficultly we were having in obtaining our vaccines in Florida. We feel that both Chelsie and Cathy, as well as the Grace Management staff went far beyond what was required in caring for their residents. KUDOS to all. Janet and David Keffer

We have lived at The Highlands for seven years now and are always impressed by the experience and interests of the residents, the care and concern expressed by the staff, and the opportunities to involve yourself (or not) in the operations and governance of the community. We were especially appreciative of the efficient, proactive and consistent policy for dealing with the Covid 19 virus pandemic in 2020. The management articulated a transparent set of measures consistent with Maine state standards and CDC policies (masks, grocery shopping, visitor restrictions, social distancing, etc.) that culminated in a well run vaccination program organized by Grace Management and CVC pharmacies in January 2021. We stayed safe at a difficult time.

Nate Bowditch here. As a resident of The Highlands, I want to give a big shout-out to the senior management and staff. I can only imagine how challenging it is to manage and support a community of 500 residents and staff in the midst of COVID-19. But last weeks community-wide vaccine delivery was impressive! Furthermore, the personal support weve received over the past year--things like food-shopping to keep us out of harms way; distribution of free, hand-made masks; and all sorts of helpful hygiene and shopping tips--has been greatly appreciated.

I moved in last July, in the midst of the pandemic. I first viewed the apartment I wanted through a video and then a very carefully orchestrated distance tour. Angie in Marketing was very responsive, even taking pictures of some details I had forgotten. Since I moved, I have made some great friends. Its hard in the time of Covid, but there is always the outdoors and many wonderful trails both on campus and other places. I just got the first of two vaccination shots yesterday and was so impressed with how well organized it was. I almost didnt have time to get anxious. I do have family near by but this place does feel like home.

the vaccinations clinic which occurred these last two days was a fine example of the efficiency, kindness, and good humor which the staff at the Highlands always display. They made it a joyous occasion ! Their management of this long dreary time has been marvelous. It has kept us safe, as occupied as possible, and always well informed. thanks to all the staff and to all the residents.

Ive been living here for eight years. I love the quality of the service here in the Estates (independent cottages) - having yard work and maintenance and household cleaning taken care of is marvelous! The staff is thoughtful and helpful. But what makes living here so special is the quality of my neighbors and (in non-covid times) the quality of on-campus life. Cant recommend it more highly.

The Highlands, in partnership with CVS, provided an on-site COVID-19 vaccination clinic for its residents earlier this week. The clinic was very well planned and conducted by The Highlands and CVS staff. From the time we arrived at the clinic to when we left with a snack bag and a proof-of-vaccination photo that we proudly showed our family members, we progressed through the process most efficiently. This clinic is but one example of the benefits to be derived from living in an independent living community such as The Highlands!

Living at The Highlands during the coronavirus pandemic has made life more than merely bearable. We have been protected, cared for and given extra attention to keep us safe. At each step we have had clear announcements and preparation so we could participate in a safe space. Our management teams have given extra attention to finding resources and providing us what we need. We are a community, a family with wide interests and the ability to pursue them at our own level of comfort. The extra time by the people who work here in planning and preparing has benefits that include keeping our anxiety manageable and offering support as needed. Its a good place to be while the world is in chaos.

Ive found the perfect place to to enjoy my final quarter+. One quarter Mom-Dad -family, one quarter Husband-kids-family, one quarter husband-Me and now--Celebrate me quarter!! No more worries about whats for dinner, the septic backing up, a tree falling in the wrong place, or finding someone to clean your place, or fix what is broken, for there is a remarkable group of people to support you as you navigate those problems. I think the main thing that sets the Highlands apart is the superior people who work here. Imagine an adm.director that is willing to do your personal shopping to keep you safe. And the people that call the Highlands home are amazing. If you are looking for a place to celebrate the fourth quarter+, consider the Highlands .

I researched approximately 40 retirement communities in New Hampshire and Maine. My high-level objectives were to be on one floor, close to excellent medical facilities and a vibrant community. I reduced the list to 40 to 4; two in New Hampshire and two in Maine. I chose the Highlands because it best met all of my objectives and had immediate availability.

I am so happy that I found The Highlands! I have experienced both living in one of the homes and living at the lodge. In both cases I was always amazed at how hard the staff worked to do the impossible- make everyone happy! They are, without exeption, fully dedicated to making our life here pleasant. The facilities are everything I could want, pool, gym, instructors, lovely walking areas outside and entertaining programs as well. The food services are excellent, they have survived the Corona virus problem with great skill, maintaining their standards against a big challenge.

We have lived here for almost seven years. We have become active in the community (both The Highlands and Topsham-Brunswick), enjoy our neighbors, and all that The Highlands has to offer, which is a lot!. It is pet-friendly, which is important to us. Come for a visit—-you wont be disappointed.

We investigated every retirement community from Scarborough to Topsham before making the difficult decision to leave our wonderful home in West Bath. As residents of The Highlands for almost two years, we cant say enough in praise of the facility and its staff. Its a walking community, everything within easy reach. Friendly neighbors add to the pleasure of living here.

On behalf of our family, we want to thank and endorse The Highlands as a quality, caring community that has met or exceeded the needs of our two most important family members in the Estates setting, and in the last two years, in the Assisted Living environment. All the people including support staff and administration are sincerely responsive to needs. The facilities are cared for and well maintained. Activities, socialization, quality and quantity of meals and amenities are really great. We are very pleased with our familys decision to be part of The Highlands community since 2005!

Everything you'd want, and more....activities, community cultural events, food any time of day, caring staff in assisted living and memory care (I speak from direct experience), and so many staff here for 10, 15, and 20 years. Low turnover speaks volumes. I'm in my 10th year at The Highlands. The residents have such fascinating backgrounds and feel like family.

There is a spirit of helpfulness and neighborliness among residents and staff. I can't come up with examples, because this spirit seems to animate almost all contacts.

Outstanding staff, very kind, thoughtful, well qualified. The facility is lovely, however the apartment was rather dark, little sunlight. Also, became too expensive, medications must be purchased through their designated pharmacy - very costly.

My mom lived in the Maine Lodge for ten years and then Cadigan Assisted Living for 2 1/2 years. She loved it! It was an active, interesting place with terrific caregivers who loved her and her family! I couldn't have felt better about her years there and when she passed... she was in her apt. at Cadigan not in a nursing home! Highly recommend this facility!
