I haven't seen my mother this happy in years she loves the food, the care, the activities and how pretty the facility is. They maintain open lines of communication, ensuring that we are updated and involved in every step of my dad's care. This attentive approach provides me with great peace of mind. The care staff is nothing short of wonderful. They demonstrate a high level of professionalism and compassion, which is evident in the way they interact and provide support to residents. The staff at Scarborough Terrace is exceptional. Sarah was very welcoming and involved during the entire time that my Mom was at ST. The facility is very nice and spacious. Regular group activities are scheduled for the residences. My Dad and I got to know many of the staff that worked in memory care and assisted living, too. Pretty exceptional team. We recently moved our mother here from another AL facility. We moved her because we just had to believe there was more compassionate and personalized care for her. This place has exceeded all expectations. The staff here is warm and friendly, they say hello, they know what's going on for mom that day. I get a text when she's down in the dumps, I get a photo when she is smiling and happy. She is clean and showered, dressed, and well-fed. These things seem basic, but I don't take them for granted anymore. The staff stick around, many have been there for years. Sarah has been just wonderful, and I am so thrilled we made the difficult choice to more her. It's been a life-saver, literally!

My mother had to be moved to assisted living rather suddenly following a stroke. We could not have asked for a more welcoming, supportive and caring environment than the one that met us when we arrived at Scarborough Terrace. Every question was answered and every concern was met. Sarah was our lifeline. She was always available to help us with whatever questions came up. She told us exactly what furniture would be needed and how most residents arranged their rooms. Because we were from out of town Sarah was able to help us with sources for furniture and personal supplies as well. It was so reassuring once we had to leave that my mom had so many people who truly cared for her and were invested in her comfort and well-being. Get ready for a long review....We couldn't be happier after transitioning Mom from another assisted living facility to Scarborough Terrace (ST). It was like the scene from The Wizard of Oz when it went from black and white to color. The grounds and building are beautiful, surrounded by trees and flowers and inviting outdoor spaces. But it's the people who are at the heart of it all that make it so very special. Mom's needs have changed over the years, and the ST team was able to recognize just where she is and accommodate her perfectly, with grace, dignity, and compassion borne from experience and kindness. This team cares about the residents; they care about what they do, and they are very good at it. They immediately respond to questions from families, often sending photos or texts. Sarah, frankly a superhero walking among us, even initiated a FaceTime call with Mom and me when she knew that Mom was having a rough day. They are the real deal, not a private-equity-backed institution with a revolving door of incompetent staff and bottom-line focus. We couldn't be happier.

The staff is so kind and responsive and went above and beyond during her first couple of weeks to send pictures and keep us informed. Scarborough Terrace is such a great place for mom to be living. She moved in a little over a year ago and we have been very happy with all of the care and services. The facility is warm and inviting, clean and full of goodness. The staff is consistent, without a lot of turn over, which says a lot in terms of them wanting to stay employed there! They are all so friendly, available, and helpful in ways that provide my mother with conversation, personal care, smiles and encouragement, check-ins, meal delivery to her room if she chooses, medication distribution, and housekeeping so that her room and belongings are clean and well-maintained. Communication is a real strong point. There is a monthly family zoom meeting that provides a forum for the management to deliver updates and upcoming event information. If you can't attend the zoom, they will email you notes so you are well informed about the goings on at Scarborough Terrace. The managerial staff in the various departments provide their email and cell phone #s so that it is very easy to contact them for any reason. I love this because I can ask for someone to go in and check on mom, set up transportation to area appointments (included in the cost to live there), talk with a nurse if she is sick, get help with hanging a picture or moving something, or speak to billing about any questions. Everyone is quick to respond and very helpful. The offerings for resident activities are plentiful and varied. A monthly calendar is distributed to residents and available for families to pick up in the lobby. Often they have invitational family events with the residents, such as a holiday party, cookout, or game night. The common areas are always decorated for seasonal celebrations, making the facility very home-like. I bring her great granddaughter to visit whenever I can and all of the residents love to see little kids there! There are several large common spaces with comfy chairs and sunny spots to enjoy, even in the winter. Residents gather and socialize often. Outside there are beautiful gardens in a wooded setting with paved walking areas and wildlife to view. Scarborough Terrace is not part of a large corporate entity, which I love; things are more personal than at another place mom lived for awhile. And also, the monthly rental cost for a room includes things like TV, landline phone, electricity, light housekeeping, laundry, showers and all three meals. They don't nickel and dime every little item. The overall cost is quite a bit less than area facilities because they don't have the corporate overhead. We do pay extra for her medications to be given to her, which is understandable, and a choice for the resident, depending on if they need that level of care or not. There is an in-house doctor that visits regularly, if you choose to engage that service, along with foot care, hair dressing, and in-house therapies such as PT and OT. This makes getting those services and treatments so convenient! My mom, like most people, I suspect, has her own quirky needs and habits...the Scarborough Terrace team has been adept at sorting it all out, meeting her where she is, and tending to her with kindness, talent, and a professionalism that comes out in a personal way. I highly recommend Scarborough Terrace. My mom is in the assisted living wing right now. If she needs memory care later on, they offer that, too. As an added bonus, their location is also great because it is easily accessible from I-95, I-295, and Route 1. It is right on the way to many places I go in Scarborough, Portland, and Saco, so it makes it easy to swing in for a visit. There is a Hannaford Supermarket and Costco a mile away and the Maine Mall is right down the road. My mom and I are pleased to give Scarborough Terrace a five-star review!

I cannot recommend Scsrborough Terrace enough. I would give it 10 stars if I could! This was a very difficult transition in my familys life and Sarah O’Sullivan was literally our angel. I can’t even begin to describe how incredibly thrilled my mom and I are with Scarborough Terrace! I was concerned that a move would be a tough transition for a 94-year-old but the staff is wonderful and has helped mom not just integrate but thrive. Mom went from being isolated in her prior independent living situation to being active and engaged at Scarborough Terrace. She has social stimulation thru 3 daily meals with other residents in the dining room, and enjoys a variety of activities from bingo to concerts to exercise classes. My mother is so incredibly happy at ST, and it’s such a relief to me to know she is so well cared for and engaged. Wish I would have moved her there sooner!

Sarah at Scarborough Terrace was available to me 24/7 and followed up on each and every question, request and need, whether late at night or on a Sunday morning. All the nurses, CRNAs and staff provided a level of care beyond what we could have hoped for. Mom has always lived independently. Recently we noticed that she needed more assistance with daily activities. We visited several facilities. When we viewed Scarborough Terrace, and met with Sarah, we knew we had found moms new home. Sarah answered all of our questions and addressed our concerns. She provided helpful advice during the moving process. Mom has transitioned nicely. The care team has been excellent in providing support for her everyday needs. They always ensure that mom is aware of the daily social activities, whether it is bingo or a musical presentation.There is always something going on to keep mom busy and engaged. The light filled common areas provide additional spaces for the residents to sit and relax. They are nicely decorated and maintained. The food is excellently prepared and served with kindness. Recently, mom had an out of town appointment and returned after the normal dinner hours. The dining room staff noticed that mom had missed dinner and had a late night snack waiting for her at her usual place in the dining room. I think what impresses me the most is the caring atmosphere that exists throughout the assisted living community. The whole staff works seamlessly to enable mom to live as independently as possible. Our family feels very fortunate to have found Scarborough Terrace. We now have peace of mind that mom is well cared for.

My father moved in about 5 weeks ago. We got him one of the smaller rooms, but it is very clean, comfortable and cozy. It has a nice big window with a view and sunlight most of the day. Love how we can get so much done on site like haircuts, doctor's appt, podiatrist/foot care, physical therapy, prescriptions, etc. I'm really happy my Dad is living there. He is being well cared for and is working on getting his strength back after some serious health issues. The staff has been very responsive and Sarah has been great about sharing information/updates. Also, he tells me the food is EXCELLENT.

Welcoming, peaceful, loving and fun is the way my family feels about Scarborough Terrace. We were welcomed from the moment we began the transition of moving Mom from a nursing home to an assisted living home. The marketing director was a huge resource of information, helpful in answering all my questions and so understanding while helping us navigate this diffiuclt time. It was such a comfort to have the director send a text and picture daily of how Mom was doing those first weeks. The caretakers are an attentive and compassionate staff that soon became favorites of Mom. They were always willing to stop and chat about Mom's needs or my questions. Scarborough Terrace is a wonderful place.

My mom transitioned to Scarborough Terrace at the end of September. The atmosphere is very peaceful, comfortable and welcoming. The day after her move the staff hosted a family BBQ. It was lovely to see the residents socialize and enjoy a great meal. My mom was thrilled to enjoy delicious grilled salmon.She loves the food which is great because she is a great cook herself! Her room is spacious and comfortable. The staff care for her with exceptional skill and compassion. The Marketing Director helped with her transition, sending photos of my moms activities. I can call or text her with questions and she is always extremely responsive. I highly recommend Scarborough Terrace to anyone looking for an exceptional place for their loved one to live. I have complete faith and trust that my mom is being well cared for. My mom has outside staff that visit her and I receive calls with updates. I have heard over and over "your mom is so happy" which confirms what I hear from her as well.

I’m tremendously grateful to Sarah O’Sullivan and the rest of the incredible staff at Scarborough Terrace for making my mother’s transition there so smooth and worry free. Sarah patiently answered all of our questions throughout the entire process, and offered great advice prior to the move to leverage her decades of experience helping other families in similar circumstances. Sarah followed through with pictures and texts during my mother’s first few weeks as promised, which put my family at ease. There was virtually no transition period, since my mother felt right at home immediately. The caring staff offered support for everything Mom needed to help make her feel secure and right at home from the very beginning, from hanging her artwork on the walls, to introducing her to new friends, to setting up a special puzzle table in the all purpose room so Mom (and others!) can all work on the puzzles Mom brought whenever the mood strikes. There’s a variety of activities and interesting programs to help keep Mom alert and active. She loves the food and the sense of community among the staff and other residents as well. I toured a number of other assisted living facilities in the greater Portland area before touring Scarborough Terrace after it was recommended by several people I trust. I knew it was the right place for Mom as soon as I walked in and met with Sarah for a tour. We couldn’t be more thrilled with our choice to move Mom to Scarborough Terrace. As Mom’s primary caregiver for the past two years, the sense of peace I now feel is worth everything.

We moved mom here in May and it has been a lovely experience. From the moment you walk in the door it’s a peaceful, happy environment. One thing that we noticed is that most of the staff has worked there for years and years. They know all residents names, as well as details about them. The nursing staff has been responsive to all our needs, while still providing my mom the independence she deserves. Everything is customized to moms ever changing needs. It made it easier for me to let go of the day to day responsibilities from when she lived with us. I have not questioned her care once. We receive pictures of mom participating in the events which range from art projects to ice cream outings and even Casco Bay cruises. The event coordinators are wonderful, and they make a point to encourage residents to participate. They also host monthly events that family can participate in. I honestly can’t recommend Scarborough Terrace enough.

She even sent us daily photos of mom participating in activities. The building and grounds are impeccably maintained, with lots of lovely common areas where residents and visitors can gather. Our mom has settled in nicely and we couldn’t be happier.

Our family had a wonderful experience with the staff at Scarborough Terrace when we moved our parents to their apartment. The marketing director was very responsive to our many questions and helped facilitate any of our specific requests. We had our first family night the first week they moved in with a ukelele band event! It was a great evening! My parents are enjoying lots of daily activities including fitness classes, ice cream outings, live music, various games, movies in the theater room and much more! Thank you Scarborough Terrace!

Thanks to the Scarborough Terrace Team my family feels warm and fuzzies about having our mother be a resident. We love the activities they are always doing so it's not like a 'prison'. It's nice to see everyone being engaged, focused, smiling, and laughing. The continuous care and special attention for mom's needs in the Rose Garden are so much appreciated. We LOVE that every resident is treated as one of their own family members. We highly recommend!! Big shout out to the Rose Garden Team! Thank you all!!

Scarborough Terrace has been a great place for my wife to be a resident for the past 3. The staff are very concerned and provide exceptional care for all folks. During these difficult times they have kept the place very clean and safe as they try to do Facetime and Zoom virtual meetings to stay in touch with your loved ones. They are focused on keeping residents happy, well nourished, and busy with activities. I would recommend Scarborough Terrace to anyone who needed the great care they provide.

My wife moved into the Rose Garden 18 months ago. After being together 60 years, the transition was traumatic for her and for me. Could not have been done without the caring staff at Scarborough Terrace. At all times, they were compassionate and kind. Throughout her stay, my wife has been very well cared for. The Rose Garden is her home and the staff her family. I would highly recommend Scarborough Terrace for families seeking a memory care center for a loved one!

Scarborough Terrace seems to love my mother. And they care about me and my relationship with her. I live in NC, so visits in person are rare. But Angela Cartwright reaches out to me to ask if I would like to schedule video visits. And she helps my mom navigate those. She has also been willing to help my mom join our Zoom church service when I am providing music. The place is PRETTY. Inside and out it is tidy and lovely to look at, and full of our loved ones having a nice time together. The thought of a Memory Unit scared me, but now that my mom will be going there, i see it is best for her and it is anything but a sad place. I think she’ll really enjoy all the interaction she will get there. Makes me wonder if she was lonely in her lovely, sunny room upstairs, but only for a moment, because she usually wasn’t there! She was out visiting! And enjoying music! And walking safely around the grounds. Lastly, they have been EXTREMELY GOOD with COVID safety compliance. I am so reassured. So glad she’s been there for this. Near where I live, a local nursing home has had, between staff and residents, 100 cases. 80+ were residents. So you know it can happen. I would like to thank EVERYONE at Scarborough Terrace for the dedication and the loving care they have provided to my Mom, who turned 99 yrs old this summer. I can’t express enough appreciation for keeping her safe during this horrible pandemic, as well. My Mom spent three years at another Scarborough facility and it was a totalnightmare. So, believe me, I know and I have lived through the differences between the two facilities!! As far as I am concerned, Scarborough Terrace gets an A-plus rating. Our mother is 91. She likes living at Scarborough Terrace. She’s diabetic and her diabetes can be difficult to manage, but they’re doing as good a job of regulating it as we’ve seen anywhere. Extremely important to us: they’ve been very strict and successful thus far with the COVID-19 protocols. And in spite of the extra work and stress on the staff caused by the virus, they’ve been finding ways to engage the residents and help them stay active. So, two thumbs up for this facility.

Beautiful facilities and grounds. Very nice staff. Excellent food. Great activities. Nice residents. No asissted living place is perfect, but this is the nicest one I have seen by far. My mother in law is doing well there, especially given her situation. We very much appreciate Scarborough Terrace.
