I have lived in Leisure World for ten years. It has been a very good experience. You can stay as busy as you want. If you do not drive there is a bus service that runs Monday through Saturday. There is a Catholic Church and an Ecumenical building for other faiths to worship with in walking distance or a short drive if you wish. There is a shopping center right outside the main gate. The grocery store is a newly renovated Super Giant. There is a medical center inside Leisure World and a medical building with Community Radiology outside in the shopping center. There is the Aspen Hill Shoping Center and Del Mercado Shopping Center with in 10 Minutes.The facilities are very good. There are restaurants, an indoor and outdoor pool, a full gym, golf, card games, and 40 some hobby groups. A library and theater for plays, musicals and movies. There are plenty of trails to walk around and wild life. A great place to live.

A nice place for your loved ones. My mother in law live here and they have good service and responsive too in any of your concerned. The place is safe and clean. Giant, Ledo Pizza, and Burger King are places that Mom loves to go whenever we visit her, its just so near and it has wide parking lot too.

This is the largest retirement community in the Washington DC area located in Silver Spring Maryland. It has built up gradually over several decades with a variety of housing including high rise condos, mid rise condos, duplexes, townhomes and single family homes. There are two club house recreation centers with restaurants, theaters, ball rooms and rooms for poker, bridge, table tennis and club areas. There is a full service gym and exercise room along with tennis courts, pickle ball courts, a golf course and club house and indoor pool and outdoor pool. There is lawn bowling and croquet also. There is a very active social life with frequent parties where club members meet to socialize. Many entertainers perform in the theater including local bands. There are frequent dance parties and clubs for ball room dancing and Rock and Roll sock hop. There are also single groups that plan events. There is lots of support for seniors aging in place with medical supplies and visiting care takers. There is a Medstar health clinic on the campus in addition. A Physical properties department supplies plumbing, electrical and general repairs and maintenance for the residents. It is a center for politicians who come for parades at July 4. Bill Clinton have a speech in the theater in support of Hillary's campaign. There are plenty of activities for seniors and you are minutes away from shopping centers, hospitals and a metro stop with trains to Washington DC.

The campus of Leisure World is always kept groomed and clean. It is a gated community for seniors. They have alot of classes and organized clubs for the members.

If you can afford it, this is the place to retire to! Every kind of club and activity imaginable! Everything is just a short walk away, no noisy kids or pesky 'adults' to deal with, total security and safety, a fire station at one entrance, available plots for expanded gardening, tons of parking spaces for guests, and round the clock staff support!

Have quite a few friends who have moved here, very well taken care, has lots of options to keep active, golf course, pools, excercise room, many different types of housing to choose, from condos to single housing, with lots in between. Most need some interior upgrading, but some have already been done. Close to alot of shopping, hospitals, roads surrounding are being upgraded presently.

Not just for the geriatric. I have friends in their late 50"s who love living at Leisure World. The grounds are always well kept, you can walk around safely any time of the day or night and there's a free shuttle that makes it easy to live without a car. I have a not-that-old, somewhat disabled sister who moved there a couple of months ago. She has much more freedom now, can get herself to the doctor and grocery store without any help, and she says all the neighbors are very friendly and helpful.

I have lived in Leisure World for over 5 years now - I moved to Maryland to be near my daughters and grandkids, but I knew I couldn't be planning on spending ALL my time with them! Leisure World has many, many clubs and organizations to match the interests of many people - social clubs, political, religious, educational. Lots of events like live musical performances, and movies. Two clubhouses, 2 pools (indoor and outdoor), a golf course provide activities for all. Buses transport residents around and to the nearest shopping plaza. Public transportation (bus) comes right into Leisure World near Club 1. AND a wide variety of housing: plaza homes, garden apartments, high rise builtdings with secure lobbies allow people to choose just the kind of place they want to live in.

My dad lives here. Its a great place for people of proper age to be amongst others, like themselves want freedom and security. Its has restaurants and a gym with a pool. Beautiful scenery. And a golf course my fav.
