My father-in-law, who will turn 101 on September 2, 2024, spent a month in respite at Heartlands in December 2023, while we were on a much needed vacation. Melissa and her team were absolutely WONDERFUL!!! He thoroughly enjoyed himself enough that he is returning this month for 5 weeks while we take another much needed vacation and take care of some family business. He can not say enough good things about the people and the service they provide!!! THANK YOU MELISSA AND YOUR TEAM!!!

I visited several Assisted Living facilities for my loved one prior to choosing Heartlands in Severna Park. My decision was based on several reasons of what they had to offer in comparison to the other facilities. I could not be happier and confident with my decision. ALL of the staff at Heartlands are truly wonderful and dedicated to providing exceptional care to their residents. The ladies at the front desk could not be kinder or more helpful any time I call or when I visit my loved one. The residents look happy and well cared for. The rooms are lovely and well kept. There are are always festivities going on whether it be live music, ice cream socials, family days, recognizing residents birthday's, holidays and so much more. There is a transport bus for residents to go grocery shopping, to Walmart, out to lunch or some fun excursion. Naturally, life changes for residents to go from home to an Assisted Living. Heartlands goes above and beyond to provide residents safe independence, opportunities to enjoy their surroundings and get out to have some fun and still enjoy their lives. The necessity to place your loved one in an Assisted Living is difficult. The reality of others caring for them can be concerning and scary. I feel extremely fortunate that my loved one is in a caring, upbeat and compassionate community environment. I have faith and peace of mind every day regarding the continued care they receive.

Our 94 year old Mom was living with us for almost two years and the health care that she needed was getting to be more than we could handle and her ability to get around without assistance was getting scary because we have two dogs and a cat and we were concerned for her safety with them going around her legs a lot. We discussed with her about other living options and took her to several assisted living facilities near us so we could still be with her often. after all of the places we looked at, she was set on moving to Heartlands, especially because the facility is not too big and everyone was sweet, personable and very helpful! We never felt like all the information we were given was being shoved down our throats! We had a WONDERFUL tour of the building and there were several units available and because Moms eyesight was rapidly failing, she was able to pick a unit with three windows that keeps all kinds of beautiful, natural light in. She was able to self-medicate herself when she first moved in, but because of her eyesight, she now needs to have the nurses there give her all of her medications and we are SO happy with that, especially knowing she is getting her proper medication at the proper time every day! The nurses are SO loving and caring and Mom loves everyone of them! Mom has to have her meals brought to her and she eats in her unit. The staff that brings her meals are such a joy to her. She always looks forward to spending time with them. The staff at Heartlands are always compassionate and caring and they are always there and ready for any questions or concerns you might have and they do all they can to accommodate you and your family member the best that they can! Our Mom LOVES living here and we love knowing she is in such AMAZING care! We love Heartlands and we are sure you and your family member will too!

Wonderful transition experience! I had significant difficulty with my mothers insurance company in processing her claim. The Hearlands staff were incredible in making sure that the insurance company got the information that the needed in a super-timely fashion. Beyond that, the staff is very caring, patient and genuine. This is a wonderful place!

The nursing staff is beyond exceptional. The entire facility and dedicated staff made us feel very secure in knowing that our Dad was being cared for. As Dorothy would say; Theres no place like home but, from direct experience Heartlands offers something quite close to it. - Our family is so grateful.A lovely home like environment; cozy, comfortable and easy to find your way around without getting lost. It was perfect for my mother. She was able to live independently, while knowing support was always nearby.The suites were well appointed, up-to date and easy to maneuver in a wheelchair. The main floor dining room provided a more intimate setting, serving three very nice meals throughout the day. For thosein between times a cafe bar was open to all providing fresh fruit, baked goods and beverages-- as my mother would often say youll never starve here.Through the numerous activities and special events, mom engaged and connected making many new friends whom shed come to care deeply about.The management team, nurses and support staff are all wonderful! A truly caring team that strives to make a difference supporting the residents they refer to as family.

I made the very difficult decision to move my mom out of my home into assisted living. I searched almost every assisted living facility in the area. Most facilities were very nice, but not one seemed like the best fit for my mom. In December 2018 I decided to pull into the facility that I had been passing on Benefield Road for years... no appointment, tired, stressed and looking like a hot mess. I was greeted by Anne; friendly, compassionate and willing to stop what she was doing and spend the next hour or more with me. I left our meeting without a doubt in my mind that I found exactly what my mom needed.We moved my mom in January 2019. She was at Heartlands until her recent passing. The Director Lisa is nothing short of amazing! She is kind, funny, compassionate and a counselor when you just need some advice, a shoulder to cry on or a good pep talk. Greg is the Assistant Director, also kind, funny and shows that he deeply cares for his facility. Linda the Activities Director connects with residents in a way that is truly heartwarming. She has residents engaged, motivated and having fun all of the time. PreCovid it would be rare to walk in and not find an event or party happening in the main lounge area (I would visit almost everyday). Craig the Maintenance Director is one of the most kind people I have ever met. He seems to be a very busy man, but always stops to talk with the residents. My mom didnt leave her room often, but Craig always made it a point to stop in and check on her. Heather the Director of Nursing is amazing. She is kind, compassionate, so very knowledgeable and always made sure my mom was getting the best care. Last but not least Sharon, if my mom needed anything she was on it!! Sharon is full of energy, compassionate and just treats everyone like they are her best friend. The staff I have mentioned have all been at Heartlands for YEARS! I wish I could mention each care manager and nurse individually, but this would go on forever. I will just say THEY ARE AMAZING!!! The housekeeping staff is kind and goes WAY ABOVE cleaning. They make sure the residents are happy and have what they needI could go on and on, but if you are looking for an assisted living facility where you can be guaranteed your family member will be engaged, loved and well cared for, Heartlands is it!!!Thank you Heartlands, I will always be grateful and will sure miss being a small part of your wonderful community!! - Marcia K.

My 86-year-old father-in-law has been at Heartlands for a few years and has received wonderful care there and a home where he is happIt is not a large facility and I think that is part of the charm. The medical staff and admin are knowledgeable, kind, attentive and willing to discuss matters or answer questions, and they really go above and beyond the call of dutyI think they treat their residents like family. My father-in-law is now dealing with end-stage congestive heart failure and his comfort — but also his dignity and voice — are priorities for Heartlands. Also, while facilities ended up having COVID-19 outbreaks throughout the D.C. metro area, Heartlands in Severna Park did not have one case! Amazing. I would highly recommend this place. Not only because we have peace of mind with him there, but also because he has peace of mind and they work hard to accommodate his needs and engage the family.

Heartlands in Severna Park is a wonderful place. The Care Managers show compassion and that they care. I feel this has to do with the Lisa the Executive Director of the facility. Being a smaller assisted living community you can see her influence of top notch assistance in all aspects of care and dining. My father came from another assisted living community and we are glad we made the move. Couldnt say enough about the dementia unit except for excellent.

My 100 year old uncle is very happy and content at Heartlands. He is well taken care of and has even gained some weight on the food, which he reports is quite good. His health concerns are addressed daily and the family is quickly notified if there is a change or problem.He receives good care. He and his room are always neat, clean and tidy. He loves the outings and the staff will remind him and include him in all happenings. There are weekly outings and daily events of all kind. The other day I walked in and the residents were being visited by Elvis!Family and friends are frequently invited to special events and they are always welcome to attend the daily events with their love one.I have had other experiences with assisted living facilities in and around Severna Park. Heartlands is by far the best! I recommend it to anyone seeking a safe, cheerful facility where they love ones will be well cared for.

We have only the highest commendations for Heartlands in Severna Park. The staff are amazingly friendly, caring, attentive, informative as well as professional. While those are probably the most important aspects of care for our loved one, we also praise Heartlandss physical attributes. Rooms are lovely, common areas are well-maintained and always very clean, and there are various places throughout the facility residents can enjoy. Additionally, activities abound and are well-thought out and conducted.All these attributes are more important than ever as we are going through this most challenging time. We have nothing but praise for how well management has kept us informed of every changing development and new protocol. They have worked hard not only to keep our loved one safe, but even provided ways to keep her entertained and engaged while in isolation. Additionally, they have made many efforts at helping us to connect with our loved one through zoom visits and porch visits. We can not recommend Heartlands strongly enough as a safe, caring and professional home for those who need assistance with daily living tasks. The heart in their name says it all!

My mom had a wonderful 100th birthday party given by Heartlands that made her feel like a queen for the day. Her next birthday was catered by her family in Heartlands activity area with many guests. By then, she was confined to a wheelchair, but she and her guests guests all enjoyed a very good time. Mom is now in Bridges and happy all the time. Her care is top of the line all the time. Heartlands takes care of body and soul. Thank you, Heartlands!

My parents moved to Heartlands Severna Park in January, 2017, after my Dad fell and could no longer be at home to help care for my Mom, who has Dementia. They were both welcomed with open arms, by every staff member. Heartlands was home to Dad until he passed in August, 2017. Mom is still there, having moved into a smaller room. The sympathy expressed upon Dads passing was genuine and heartfelt. All staff now watch over Mom with great compassion and love. It is not too large, well maintained, the nursing staff is wonderful. Housekeeping staff are the best, food service is great, the food pretty good! There are activities daily, a lot of stimulating games, crafts, entertainment, trips to museums, restaurants and rides through beautiful country. Lisa, the director is kind, compassionate, caring, yet she runs a tight ship. Many employees have been there for 10, 15, 20 years. Leadership is a huge part of this. Hats off to all at Heartlands Severna Park. Thank you for making this transition easy for my family.
