Brookdale Potomac – Reviews
March 2023
I have a friend there that has received items from family & friends and they always seem to "DISAPPEAR". Then one of the nursing staff was caught red handed going through her purse. This is absolutely RIDICULOUS and NEEDS to be brought to the attention of a management personnel that REALLY CARES and can look into it. There's stealing & other shifty things going on!!!

After careful review we selected Brookdale Potomac for our beloved mom. The staff and directors have been amazing, empathetic and helpful. They have kept us well informed and are very caring. We are grateful for Yvette and staff at the Clare Bridge unit. They are simply amazing!

My mother was at Brookdale Potomac (assisted living) for 6 years. The facility along with the common areas were nice and the individual rooms are good size, well laid out and comfortable. The staff was helpful, professional and supportive during my mother's tenure there. The location of the property along with its easy access was great for us. Their group activities encourage residents to mingle/interact and enjoy their situation. I would recommend this property to a person looking for an assisted living facility in this area.

An exemplary Assisted Living facility! Great management & staff! It is sure led by example!
December 2022
We have now had my stepdad (who has fairly advanced Alzheimer's) living at Brookdale for 2 months. From day one, every single staff member I"ve interacted with has been outstanding. Not just competent, but exceptionally positive and caring. They really go the extra mile to engage with the residents, and help them live their best life possible. They handle what is clearly a difficult job with grace, empathy, and positivity. We considered several other facilities, and are very glad we've chosen Brookdale.

My mom has moved in recently, and so far we've been very happy. Attentive, caring staff. Beautiful and well-maintained facility. They keep her busy with fun activities. Great energy.

The Admissions process at Brookdale was amazing. I had a million questions and they were all answered quickly - with kindness and professionalism. Sarah went out of her way to endure that Brookdale was the best place for my sister. I cant wait for her to move in!

I would like to recognize the staff in Clare Bridge especially, who have taken such good care of my mother for almost two years now. Yvette Bravo especially keeps the families in mind all the time, especially on days when it is difficult to not be with the parents we love. But Clare Bridge also has wonderful staff and our thanks goes out to them as well. Additionally, my father moved into assisted living in March and we are so happy that our parents are at least living in the same building. Brookdale is small enough that there is individualized attention as necessary but still offers many options for residents to participate in. We give thanks today especially, on Thanksgiving, for Brookdale and its staff and management. But also for the community it has built and shared with residents and families. We look forward to Covid free days when we will be able to visit more regularly, but are thankful for the visits and phone calls weve been able to share during this difficult time. We are especially grateful to all those that have to sacrifice their own family time to be with our loved ones. We can never say thank you enough. Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

My parents have been living in Brookdale Potomac for over three years and I recommend Brookdale strongly, especially Clarebridge, the memory care unit. The staff on Clarebridge truly care about residents and pay attention to the needs of each person. Since many staff and the director have been there from the beginning with my Mom, caregivers have become extended family. Residents are encouraged to engage in wellness, arts, music, cooking and seasonal events. Im impressed with the creative activities planned often around particular interests of each resident. Family concerns are heard and staff work hard to address issues that arise as the health of residents change. Last Spring, administration held regular Zoom family meetings to communicate openly and listen to families. This level of transparency was appreciated and reflected Brookdales caring approach..

On behalf of my mom (Marjorie), placement in the Clare Bridge Program (CBP) has been a Godsend. Now in her second year as a resident at Brookdale Potomac, it was after placement in CBP that she reclaimed her outgoing nature; openly associating with other residents and engaging in many social activities. She appears at peace and so much happier. My family is most appreciative and grateful for the level of diligent care, concern and respect she receives from Yvette Bravo and her staff!

Friendly people with great activities planned for the residents. I took my kids there many times (before covid happened btw) to interact with the residents we did bowling, some singing and dancing, and made cards and delivered them ourselves. The residents enjoyed so much it felt great to see them smile and laugh at the innocence of the kids around them. So nice of management to arrange such and looking forward to more.

I have lived here almost two years. It was a big adjustment going from an active and independent life to an assisted living situation. The adjustment was only possible due to the patience and caring of the staff. Their job is overwhelming and yet they soldier on with a degree of caring and concern that seems unshakeable. The physical plant is good looking and comfortable. It is starting to get some age but is well maintained, certainly in the public areas. With the world neck deep in the covid 19 virus, it is easy to see the job management does. We read daily about how senior living is the front lines of this pandemic. We hear horror stories from assisted living and nursing homes. Management has faced turnover of staff, scared employees and residents, a population resistant to change and often unable to understand or remember to wear a mask, wash their hands or stay 6 feet apart. Under these rough circumstances, the stats prove that management has protected the population effectively.

As assisted living goes Brookdale Potomac gets 4.5 stars - no one is perfect however after seeing many places (Brighton Gardens, Landau House, Ring House and the 5 Star on Connecticut Avenue) I can confidently say Brookdale is about as good as gets. The employees are very caring and most have been at Brookdale for a long time. The food is quite tasty and the waiters and waitresses are lovely and caring. Covid is another story but they are doing everything possible to make it work. The nurses are fabulous and knowledgeable - they call when appropriate and make all the correct health care decisions.

I have had the pleasure of working with the staff and residents of Brookdale Potomac for years. The team goes above and beyond to really get to know people and create an inviting home environment for all. They truly care about each resident. The nurses are experienced and knowledgeable. Most of the Brookdale Potomac staff have been working there for years. Which is testament to their team. I would feel comfortable referring families looking for Assisted Living and Memory Care to Brookdale.

Amazing people! The entire staff was so kind and involved with the residents! I have volunteered with this community multiple times and they are so welcoming and attentive to their residents individual needs and wants. I would highly recommend this location for residents, volunteers, and even people looking for work!

My mother-in -law has been a member of Brookdale Potomacs Clare Bridge (memory) Community for almost two years. During the pre-COVID times, my wife and I were almost daily Clare Bridge visitors and observed Brookdales spirited effort to provide a wide range of entertainment and artistic activities for BOTH the memory unit and the assisted living families. On most occasions they were TOGETHER so the Clare Bridge members felt they were part of the larger community. Now the Brookdale leadership deserves special plaudits for the manner in which they have handled the COVID crisis. They have been successful in keeping that monster COVID at bay, enabling my wife and I to continue our visits. Thank you, Brookdale. You truly are heroes, each and every one of you!

I really love the team at Brookdale Potomac. They are genuine and have a their residents best interest at heart. Their rehab partner Fox Rehab is exceptional and I think they have great therapists on site to keep their residents functioning at the highest level possible. I enjoy volunteering occasionally with exercise activities being a therapist myself. I recommend touring this community as you look to planning your next step transitioning from home.

My mother has been a resident here in the Claire Bridge Program since 2014. The journey is not an easy one, but the care given to her by the loving staff has made it much better. I am comforted to know she is well cared for by a patient staff, supported by a team of professionals. The extra burden of Covid-19 has strained us all, and knowing they are caring for her when I cannot gives great comfort.

Great community in a great location. We moved my grandfather into this community and they made the move smoothly. The maintenance man (Joe) is such a wonderful person and I hope they plan to keep him forever. We do receive weekly updates from the interim ED which helps keep us calm knowing that grandpa is safe. My family is very grateful to you all.

Really liked this facility. It could use a little updating, but the staff was friendly, the place was clean and the residents seemed to be engaged and happy. It does not offer skilled nursing so "aging in place" is not an option - most likely a deal breaker for me.

My aunt is still adjusting to the transition. It has been taking a while for them to get started with her therapy, but the staff has been very welcoming. The food is pretty good, she barely ate in rehab center she was at prior to Brookdale, so I am glad she is eating well now. They also have "off the menu" options available. My aunt goes down to the daily movie night they have and is interacting with the other residents. I am happy with our choice.

We really liked Brookdale when we toured. The tour guide was friendly and helpful. The facility itself was nice, but the floors could have used a cleaning. But then again, it could have gotten dirty an hour before we got there. We will never know.
