My mom moved from independent living to assisted living at Asbury Methodist Village, three years ago. She had been in independent living for about three years, but when she began to develop dementia she and I made the decision to move her to the newly-created Reflections program in Asbury's Kindley Assisted Living. I have to say that it was the best decision of our lives. From housekeeping, to the caregivers, to the activities staff, to administration, the community at Kindley is warm, caring, generous and committed. Amidst all the uncertainties of Covid (which Kindley has largely escaped), I can honestly say that because of those folks, I can sleep well at night. I video with my mom nearly every day and while I can't be with her right now, I can see that she is always happy and comfortable. Kindley has become part of our family, and I appreciate them so much.

My dad moved from independent living to Kindley Assisted living, and loved it! His apartment was spacious, sunny and overlooked parkland. He enjoyed the companionship of his caregivers, and felt that they became his friends. He was always involved in activities; his favorites were balloon volleyball and bingo! My dad enjoyed the dining experience as well as, the food. It was of great comfort to me to always see him smiling and involved in the life at Kindley.

I moved my parents from their home in Missouri to Asbury over 20 years ago. My father has passed away, but he loved living in Kindley for many years. My mother initially was in independent living at Asbury, but moved into Kindley when she needed greater assistance. She will soon be 100 years old. We could not have found a better place for mom and dad. The caregivers, administrators, and staff are amazing! They always remember me and call me by my name when I visit. One of the security staff not only knows the names of all of the residence, but also knows the names of all the family members that visit. My brother, who lived in Missouri, could only visit our parents once per year. Even though the security staff member would see my brother just once per year, he always remembered my brother's name, which is amazing! I never have any concerns about the care that my parents received at Kindley. I am especially pleased with the special care that Kindley has provided to keep the residence safe during the COVID pandemic.

Both of my parents spent years at Asbury Village, in an independent apartment, Kindley Assisted Living and eventually, Wilson Health Care. Without exception the care and sense of community they experienced was wonderful. The caregivers were kind, competent and patient. They took the time to get to know my parents as individuals and indeed, to get to know our entire family. I will never forget how when my father first moved to Kindley they asked him what his favorite food was. He told them fried oysters - and they made a point of putting that on the menu! The Kindley team was always supportive of our family as we tried to navigate the healthcare issues that come with aging parents. I highly recommend Kindley and Asbury as a whole.

My mom, 92, moved from her home to Kindley Assisted living at Asbury Methodist Village, in early February, 2020. My mom is doing remarkably well, and sincerely very happy in her apartment. Now that I'm back home in Boston, I'm actually missing visiting with her because her apartment feels so familiar - like home. My sister has been making sure that she and my mom attend activities all over campus. They go to the Tuesday-Friday movies at the Rosborough, to the Bargain Mart, the Williamsburg Clothes Closet, to lectures, and to live music events. A friend at Kindley often joins them, or mom and new friends go together. They've been sampling the food at different Asbury locations. I'm coming back for a visit, and hopefully I'll get my chance to try the Blue Note! I say it's remarkable because it's such a big change, and she seems to be embracing it. My mom has been a trooper throughout, but the kindness shown to her, and to our family has helped throughout the process. From the admissions director, to the floor nurse, to the individual caretakers, the reception has been welcoming, and the dedication to the responsibilities of caretaking sincere. My mom is safe, and enjoying her new home a comfort to us as her family.

This place knows how to celebrate and focus on not just support, but fun. BBQs, art shows, helping create tree growing kits for others outside of the campus, Kindley showcases the talents of residents and provides opportunities for meaningful engagement. Kudos Kindley!
