Your patience, warmth, and professionalism create a safe and welcoming environment, and we are truly grateful for everything you do”both the big efforts and the small, thoughtful moments. Thank you for making a meaningful difference in the lives of those you care for. After a hard fall my grandmother had to get surgery and transferred to a rehab center. The center was not suitable.. 3 staff members of Sunrise took time out of their schedules to show up to the rehab center and demand my grandmother come home/get released. She will be home tomorrow and sunrise is going above and beyond to make sure she is taken care of. This place has truly made mine and my mother’s life a breeze. We are happy she’s been able to call this place home for the last 3 years.

No words can express the appreciation I have for the staff at Sunrise of Frederick. My sister, who was diagnosed and suffered from frontotemporal dementia, became a resident at the beginning of 2023 until her transition early this year. She was immediately treated like family and fit right in. Before her rapid decline, I could tell she loved her caregivers and staff. There were a few times where I had to voice some concerns, and they were heard with empathy and addressed immediately. I placed her here after being in another home that treated her like the number on her door but that was not the case at Sunrise. I watched the workers with other residents and saw the same level of care and concern they gave my sister and that pleased me as well. I am so grateful and thankful for Brenda and the entire staff who comforted me and my family during the entire process of her residency end. They always took time to listen to me and try to comfort me because I could not come to acceptance of my sister’s condition, especially because she was so young. It has taken me a little over 5 months to finally write this review, as I am still very much dealing with grief, but could not let it go much longer unsaid. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for the care you gave my sister dear Van. I will always be grateful and wish you all the best.

I reviewed Sunrise of Frederick two years ago and am compelled to return to provide my continued praise for the staff and facility. As my mom approaches her three-year mark, we are still in the honeymoon phase, still experiencing total peace of mind. A lot of emotion is tied to having a loved one in an assisted living facility, a lot of trust bestowed on non-family members. I micro mange everything; but not at Sunrise. I still have full control over decisions made on her behalf, but now they are simplified with clearly conveyed expertise and support. The concept of teamwork is not just a clich© there, it’s a driving force toward safe and happy residents. Why would I undoubtedly choose them again? Care Level: My mom is always clean with hygiene a priority, receives abundant meals and strong health oversite by her caregivers and the skilled nursing team of Line -Carol, Tara and Sheryl. The interactions between not only caregivers and residents, but between the staff themselves, are defined by laughter, sweet silliness and mutual admiration and concern. No task overwhelms them with their innate personalities to nurture. Hands on caregiver standouts are: Germaine “ The GOAT! Treats my mom like her own, loving her, fostering her individuality with specific strategies, understanding and endless compassion Kim T - Her animated personality and hugs make my mom smile Kim S - Born caretaker and constant nurturer Joyce - So steady, hardworking and ever attentive Zabeb - Such a sweet, calm and gentle manner Transparent and Regular Communication: I am amazed at how many staff roles are aware of my mom’s needs and whereabouts daily. Sunrise does a remarkable job in disseminating information throughout all teams. Whether it be an update on my mom’s health status, care plan or billing information, I receive transparent accurate information. Cleanliness: The entire facility is immaculately clean any time of day or night. And, it smells good. Thank you Liz and Bethany for your hard work and pride in ensuring a sanitary home. Proactive vs. Reactive: Foresight to know the needs of the residents before they happen seems to be a magical superpower of the staff. Knowing the nuances of each resident, they anticipate their unique needs, especially meaningful when some residents can’t express them for themselves. For example, my mom was outside one sunny day this week. I sat to chat and within 10 minutes her caretaker, Germaine, not knowing I was there, came out with a drink for her and to tell her that she’d come bring her in soon before she got overheated. Smiles and Laughter: It’s the people that create the sea of smiles on the residents faces. At the front desk, Nancy and Sakeena always greet me with warmth and friendly conversation, sharing heartwarming stories about my mom and always in the know and ready to help. Brad keeps the facility in order with his strong work ethic and forever happy demeanor. Kristy and Caroline, the Activity Team, create a social atmosphere with activities geared to varying levels of cognition and mobility. Even polish my mom’s nails “ glitter and all. And Tina helps my mom feel like a movie star with stylish hairdos. Approachability: I know what I have to say matters and my requests are heard and acted upon quickly. Whether it be the Executive Director, Brenda Waggoner, the Director of Care Management, Jude Dike or Katrice Moore, Director of Sales. Katrice, funny and compassionate, was my first interaction with Sunrise and has steadily been a force that steps up to do anything. Brenda and Jude, though tasked with management, will straighten a stuffed animal, help my mom to dinner or patiently listen. They never pull rank. The aging process with a loved one is complex, both physically and emotionally; having a dedicated and knowledgeable team to help me navigate is such a gift. Thank you Sunrise of Frederick!

Sunrise of Frederick definitely exceeded my expectation of a skilled nursing facility. My mother had dementia and was wheelchair bound. Sunrise caregivers took the time and concern to deal with all of her issues. The nursing team stayed on top of the variety of situations that she came in with and arose as time progressed. Everyone in the facility was friendly and helpful. The facility was clean. No smells. Fun activities were planned for the residents and their families. Access was 24/7. I visited many facilities then narrowed down my selection for 2nd visits. Sunrise of Frederick was at the top from the first visit. Without a doubt I made the right choice.

We recently and successfully enrolled a senior family member at this outstanding elder care facility. From the very beginning, all the staff, whether leadership or other team members, could not have been more genuinely friendly and competent. We find Sunrise of Frederick well organized, efficient, clean and manifestly welcoming. The food variety and quality are outstanding. It's nearly a party atmosphere much of the time, with creative event planning, staff and decor keeping residents engaged and motivated. The daily activities schedule is robust. The intake/evaluation session was thorough, covering every aspect of care and accommodation. In particular, thank you to Regan, Nancy, Brad, Jude, Line-Carole, Carolyn, Sosena, Brenda and Katrice for welcoming us with open arms and smiles!

Sunrise of Frederick was a 10 out of 10 for our family. Sadly, my father passed away after a short three-month stay, but I couldn't have picked a better place for Dad to spend his final days. First, the care team, coordinated by Jude, was excellent. The care team treated Dad like family. They were friendly, caring, and supportive of our family, never showing any negativity or irritation when performing tasks that certainly were unpleasant at best. Dad loved joking with them and they certainly liked to tease him about all his new girlfriends. Thank you specifically to Zebib, Kidist, Germaine, and Rebecca. These care members were lovely and present most often during our visits (which were three to five days a week). Second, administrative staff--Brenda, Katrice, Nicole, Caroline, and Susan--were always willing to answer questions. Brenda has created a family atmosphere that extends well beyond the care team. I had payment questions early on, which were answered quickly by Katrice and Nicole. Caroline worked tirelessly to get Dad involved in Sunrise activities. Susan listened to Dad's dietary needs. And even receptionists--Nancy, Sakeena, and Lisa--greeted me like a sister when entering each day. Thank you also to Brad for handling maintenance requests in a timely manner. This truly is a love letter to the family we didn't know we'd need, but are forever grateful that Dad had. We love you, Sunrise of Frederick!

Moving our 90-year-old mom into an assisted living was a tough but necessary decision. After looking at a few, Sunrise stood at the top of the list. It's now been 6 months & friends ask how it's going. My response: "Better than I ever hoped or expected". The level of care & kindness for not only mom, but the whole family has been amazing! Mom is safe, (she has dementia so this was very important), happy, healthy & all of her needs are met! When I leave after a visit, there is no sense of dread, that she won't be well cared for. As difficult as the placement decision is, Sunrise has been the perfect facility for my mom & our family.

Mom moved to Sunrise of Frederick after Dad died. I think she felt comfortable there and it was a good fit. I think that staff were caring. Mom was wheelchair-bound, and providing transportation to doctor appointments was a valued benefit. Brad provided fabulous transportation and logistical care for Mom. Activities were inconsistent. Mom complained that she went to activities and was the only one there. Shortly before Mom died, I took a bunch of roses from AARP to distribute at a planned Valentines day event, and waited for about 45 minutes after the advertised event, and nothing happened. Residents gathered and waited for an event that never seemed to occur. Many staff members are foreign-born and Mom had a hard time understanding their accents. Communications concerning Mom's care, transportation, and finances were spotty. Sometimes I would send an email providing or asking for information and had to repeat communications to get a response. Ultimately, I was able to get the information I needed. I just wish that it didn't take so much effort on my part. There were also lack of clear information about vaccinations provided at Sunrise of Frederick. Overall, I liked this facility and thought it was a good fit for Mom. I wish that they valued family too.

From the very first time we spoke with the Sunrise staff, I found them to be very personable, responsive and professional. Their conversation always conveyed their priority for mom’s care and, even to work to improve her health. Gladly, their actions spoke as loud as their words. Every time we come to Sunrise, we are always warmly greeted, and usually by more than one person. We are greeted with warmth and smiles everywhere we go. They have been very quick to respond to my mother’s needs, and through some challenges, they have provided physical and emotional support. They engaged whatever medical personnel was needed and kept us informed. When we have been there long hours, they wanted to make sure that, along with my mother, we were also eating and showed concern for us as well. When my mother needed to go to the hospital for an issue, some of the Sunrise staff came to make personal visits, not business-related, but personal visits. Katrice has been there to help us with every conceivable situation and there doesn’t seem to be any challenge that she’s not willing to undertake and advocate for us. Brenda, the executive director, always seems to be available. She has an open door policy and is willing to talk about any issue. This is rare indeed. Line-Carol and Jude take excellent medical care of my mom and again, always keep us informed. Lynn Delinger (Dining Room Services Coordinator) took a personal interest in my mom. She helped decorate her room, visited her in the hospital and would offer to help her in any way she could. We are so we have been so pleased with our experience at sunrise and know you will be too. I am a home health care clinician that has been serving this community at Sunrise of Frederick for several years. Caregiver staff are friendly, well attentive and willing to be educated on techniques to provide the best quality care for each individual resident's needs. Additionally, management staff continuosly advocate for their resident's to ensure they are receiving the best medical and personal care available. Maintenance and housekeeping are always working to ensure a clean and safe environment. Although difficult to please everyone, the quality of food and service in the kitchen and dining room are superb, as resident's consistently report good reviews of meals. Overall, Sunrise of Frederick is an assisted living community that I have recommended to friends and family and will continue to recommend. If a family loved one of mine would ever need assisted living care, I would definitely consider Sunrise of Frederick as my top option.

My loved one has only been at Sunrise for maybe a week. But Katrice and Brenda were very accommodating in getting her moved in and trying to get her settled in. The entire staff has been great and very kind. All the ladies a the front desk have been really nice and helpful any time I stop by.

The staff at Sunrise of Frederick are phenomenal, especially Sosena and Debbie. Actually, there are other wonderful staff as well but I have a horrible memory for names. The care they give my Aunt is loving and kind. I truly appreciate all that they do!

My mother lived at Sunrise of Frederick until her recent passing. They took very good care of her and were kind, friendly, and gentle with her. Prior to my mom's passing, my dad and mom were together at Sunrise. My dad passed first, and Sunrise set up a special, separate room for him to be in hospice so that Mom could visit him but also have their suite to retreat to when she was overwhelmed. The way Sunrise helped us all through Dad's hospice was wonderful. Mom, Dad, and children visited many assisted living facilities prior to them deciding on Sunrise of Frederick, and we are really pleased with the care they received at Sunrise. They were able to stay together and age in place as their dementia increased, and that was the best we could have asked for.

My mom went to Sunrise for respite care and was there over a month. It was difficult time for our family, and Sunrise made everything so much better. After a hospital stay my mom needed a place to recover while I was out of the country - they transitioned her from the hospital and took great care of her! Chante, Allie and the staff are AMAZING. Ultimately we needed to move my mom closer to my home, but I recommend Sunrise if its within your budget. The care is excellent.
