I think Sommerford is the best facility of its type in Frederick county. The staff is excellent,and helpfull. They have always been willing to honor any request big or small. The nurse Mary is obviously dedicated to her work,and always communicates with me.They have a great chef, and the food always looks good. I rest better knowing my mother is being well taken care of.

Memory care at Somerford is exceptional. Its a small community with a very organized and caring staff. Our loved one is suffering with dementia and has been quite the handful. She is now benefiting from the training and experience of these professionals. They also were a great support to us during a scary and challenging transition. Following their recommendations proved to be very effective during the transition. This is a hard road to travel and we are truly pleased to have found Somerford.

I wrote a raving review of Somerford House Frederick when my mother first moved into Somerford and a year and half later, I am writing another raving review. I truly cannot put in words just how kind, caring, and loving the staff has been towards my mom (and me!). She is so well taken care of and attended to, especially in the midst of the Pandemic we are all living in. Aleshia, the new Director of Resident Care, has been so responsive and generous with her time and knowledge. And as always, a huge thank you to Monica, Robyn, Viola, Kim, Connie, Godfrey, Karen, and so many other folks that are so so amazing.

Posting on behalf of my Mother To Gina and the Somerford Team: Thank you very much for the bouquet of purple flowers and the Elle throw. It is so soft and beautiful. Also for the wonderful greeting from all to make my stay comfy! Four days here have made me forget what I left behind. Thanks for all and God bless. Update: My Mother has now been at Somerford for more than a year. She is happy living amongst all the caring staff and other residents. She is kept active and engaged and is watched over by the nursing staff and aides. I am so pleased that she is comfortable. Kudos and thank you to all the staff at Somerford! Update 10-1-2020: My Mother has been living at Somerford House for over three years. She is comfortable in the environment and is well cared for. She enjoys having a patio outside her room as she loves to sit in the sun. I highly recommend Somerford.

Our mom is so happy at Somerford House. She moved in a little over a week ago and has never looked back. Everyone has been so welcoming and encouraging. The staff has been kind and helpful. She enjoys the food, the activities, and other residents. She says she ‘loves it and says this is the right place for her! We are so grateful that she is happy, well cared for, and safe. We have set our worries aside and truly enjoy a refreshed relationship as her children.

Moved my Grandmother to Somerford House yesterday and I must say everyone weve come in contact with has been wonderful. Everyone goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. Its always a tough decision moving a loved one from Independent Living to Assisted Living and Chris really put me at ease with my decision. The whole process went very well. Josh has been so helpful as well and got us set up with a bed frame last minute when the one we were going to bring fell apart. We live in Whittier and are so glad to have such a wonderful place right here in our backyard.

THANK YOU Somerford House Frederick staff. My mother recently had to move from independent living to assisted living. This was quite an overwhelming transition. The staff at Somerford House Frederick was so supportive and available during this entire process. While Somerford is not a large complex, it is also not that small. However, the manner in which the staff is available for both resident and family and how each person is made to feel unique and special is amazing. A huge shout out to Josh who made sure all of my mother's treasured photographs were hung and in place before she moved in. The look of pure joy on my mother's face when she saw her personal mementos on the wall was priceless. Chris who made the intake process so easy and personal. She was my first contact at Somerford. She set the tone for warm and genuine. And Robyn, who asked about my mother in detail to see how she can help her adjust and become part of the community and then followed up with a one on one lunch with my mother to get to know her better. THANK YOU all. My mother is now in a safe and caring environment. She is well taken care of and I can finally stop worrying, knowing she is in good hands.

Somerford House Frederick is the perfect place for my mother to transition from independent living to assisted living. Her day to day life had become very stressful and she became increasingly isolated. Maintaining a home, yard, meals, medications, doctors' appointments and finances had become a struggle. These extra stressors were taking a toll and she asked us for help. Somerford assisted and supported us through the transition process from start to finish. When Mom arrived at Somerford she was greeted with a personalized "Welcome" sign and the staff made a point of making her feel comfortable and welcomed. Chris, Clinton, Mike, Mary, Carrie, Robin, Viv and Ana, to name a few, have gone out of their way to answer questions, provide updates and supportive advice, keep a watchful eye, closely monitor her medical needs and put Mom and my family at ease. Mom has new friends and her days are filled with activities, great meals, fellowship, personal and professional attention and time to play games and relax . It has been a wonderful experience.

I had my mom in another assisted living and was happy there. Unfortunately their prices skyrocketed. I set out on a search for a new place for my mom. I thought for sure I would never find a place that could compete with where she was. Well, boy was I wrong!! I moved mom into Somerford Place and it is absolutely wonderful!! So much.better than where she was. When my mom moved in, she was not easy to deal with. The staff at Somerford went out of their way to accommodate her. I know they have other residents, but they make each resident and their family feel as if they are the only ones there. The activities, the food, the beautiful homey setting just make Somerford Place an amazing assisted living. Mom is very happy, and when mom is happy, life is good. I know she is getting the care she needs, which allows me to sleep at night. This was THE BEST move I could have made for my mom.

I can't say enough good things about the staff at Somerford House Frederick. My three brothers and I drop in quite frequently. The entire atmosphere is very welcoming. My mother receives loving, personalized attention from the well qualified and caring nursing staff. The caregivers are sensitive to her needs and wishes. Since my mother no longer communicates well, it is comforting to her family that the caregivers know what she likes to wear and eat. On those mornings when she is not able to get to the dining room for breakfast, they will bring her favorite breakfast of oatmeal with brown sugar. When they help her dress, they make sure she has on her earrings and lipstick too. These little details truly lift my mothers spirits each day. There are always stimulating and fun activities in progress or planned for the residents, including games, art projects, movies and outings. The activity director knows everyone and encourages all to participate. Our mother has been there for several years and during that time, it just seems to get more home-like and comfortable. Resident families are always welcome to come dine with their love one, participate in the activities or just hang out for the day. The management staff is proactive in reaching out to the family with concerns, recommendations and invitations to special events. The fact that most of the same wonderful staff have been there throughout my mother's stay says a lot about their satisfaction as well. I cannot think of a better place for our mother to live and I am thankful for everyone there.

As a Property Manager-Supportive Service, for a non-profit that serves low-income Seniors; I found the property warm and inviting. It is apparent that the staff truly cares for the safety and wellbeing of their Residents. The property was clean and well maintained, the grounds were lovely. My dad has been at Somerford Place for over a year. I have been pleased with the loving care he has received from the start, and it has only gotten better over time. I think he is receiving the best care possible from a staff that adores him. When my sister and I first visited, we were impressed with the home-like feeling. Another resident’s daughter greeted us in the parking lot as we were leaving and told us how wonderful it had been for her mother. I highly recommend Somerford Place for top notch memory care.

Beautiful place! Pretty grounds and modern interiors but still cozy and comfortable. Visited because my husband performed comedy for the residents. I enjoyed the yummy treats and laughing with the residents. Atmosphere was very warm and pleasant. It was easy to see the staff and residents had a happy relationship and cared for each other.

My parents have been at Somerford for almost a year. They have gone through many adjustments since arriving there. They have now moved to the dementia care unit. Through it all, the staff has been kind, compassionate, and have always had our parents best interest at heart. The nursing staff is exceptional, as well as the management staff. The facility is clean, and there is energy and life within the building. It is somewhat unusual to have both parents living in a dementia unit when one parent does not have dementia. The staff at Somerford has been extremely attentive to both of our parents needs, which is outstanding since their needs/wants are very different. There have been bumps in the road of course, but the key to a great staff is how they handle the bumps. The staff at Somerford, I believe is extraordinary in how they deal with the individuals living at their facility. They also communicate with our family immediately with any issues that arise. I would highly recommend Somerford to any family who is going through the difficult process of moving your loved ones to an assisted living facility.

My mom lived at Somerford House and then, moved over to Somerford Place. The staff made this transition as smoothly as they could for both my mom and the family. Each day, I am thankful for the compassion of all the employees at Somerford. The smile I see on my moms face for each of the staff, reinforces to me what a caring place Somerford is. I am always so impressed with how knowledgeable they all are about my moms individual needs and there willingness to accommodate. Somerfords commitment to their residents is exemplary.

I have a friend who is a resident at Somerford House, and I have visited there on many occasions. This beautiful facility is clean, bright, and welcoming, and sits adjacent to a quaint little park with a small lake and walking path. It is perfect for residents who are able, to stroll or wheel independently, or for visiting family members to stroll with their loved ones. The exceptional staff is warm and caring, and treat the residents like family members. Should any of my loved ones ever need assisted living or nursing home care--I will wholeheartedly recommend Somerford House!
