My mother-in-law was moved to Tribute 3 months ago. Previously she was in MC facility in FL and we did not know much about her health or state of her condition. From pictures we saw that she had lost a lot of weight and spent most of her time in a wheelchair and was sleeping until noon. In the 3 months she has been at Tribute my MIL is walking with a walker (PT is incredible) and is steadily gaining weight!!!! She is always clean and dressed nicely when we visit. Her room is clean and tidy. Jackie will answer ANY of my questions ANYTIME. I noticed that residents often come into her officer with smiles as her door is alway open. We are very grateful to Jackie and her staff for the wonderful care they give my MIL.

My 99 year old mother has been at Tribute at Melford for a bit over 6 months. There are always adjustments to be made on all sides, but I can't imagine that anyone other than Jackie Atim could have made the transition any smoother than it has gone for my mother, our family and the staff. Her understanding of the situation at hand and ability to address and communicate are outstanding. Furthermore, each of the Memory Care staff must have blessed souls. From my observation, they attend to, care for and treat my mother as their own. The mental and emotional relief is almost inexplainable. Thank you for that and so much more.

My father moved into Tribute 10 months ago and I have found Jackie Atim, Memory Care Director to be a true partner. Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s is challenging and Jackie’s partnership and support in dad’s care encourages me. A family member has been in the Memory Care Unit of Tribute At Melford for several months. The Director of this Unit is Jackie Atim and she has been outstanding in seeing that the proper care is being given to my loved one. The staff members in the Unit are friendly and capable, and responsive to meeting the needs of the residents. This assessment is based on observations I've made during my frequent visits to the Memory Care Unit.

I recently selected Tribute at Melford for a family member to reside. My selection of Tribute was based not only on the inviting, clean atmosphere and the activities provided to residents, but due to the leadership team and staff who are committed to providing an exceptional level of quality care for residents. What stands out most is the genuine compassion and individualized attention given to residents. I have been favorably impressed with the manner in which staff are responsive to questions or concerns and do what’s necessary in an expedient manner to follow up with me regarding various matters. At first glance, The Tribute at Melford appears to be a clean, organized, and trustworthy assisted living community. Unfortunately, after a full year of my grandmother living there, my family has experienced the complete opposite. What happens behind the scenes is deeply concerning, and families deserve to know the truth. 1. Temperature Control Neglect For over a year, we have submitted multiple requests for my grandmother’s thermostat to be fixed so she can control the temperature in her own room. She repeatedly tells staff—and us—that she is freezing. Instead of resolving the issue, staff simply bundle her in layers until she looks like the Abominable Snowman. This is not care. This is avoidance. 2. Basic ADLs Are Ignored Every CNA is trained and certified to perform basic ADLs. Yet my grandmother’s hair has not been washed or styled by staff in an entire year. We know this because we visit weekly, and her hair is always exactly the same unless we wash it. When I asked management to clarify what the CNAs’ basic duties are, no one could give a clear answer. That alone is alarming. 3. Memory Care Without Proper Medication Oversight My grandmother is on the memory care floor, where consistent psych medication management is essential for her stability. The facility allows outside vendors to provide services without any formal contracts, oversight, or integration into the facility’s system. This means: - No reliable documentation - No accountability - No continuity of care - Providers can discharge patients at any time without warning This is exactly what happened to my grandmother. The NP managing her psych medications discharged her abruptly, and the facility claims they are “not liable” because she was a vendor—even though they allowed her to operate there. 4. Unsafe Vendor Practices The Tribute at Melford allows private companies to work inside the facility with zero contractual safeguards. Management has no idea who is coming in and out, and when emergencies occur, there are no notes or records transferred into the facility’s main system. This is a massive patient safety issue. They choose these vendors because they are cheaper than hiring a contracted provider who could actually handle the patient load. The result? Patients like my grandmother are left vulnerable and unstable. 5. Poor Documentation and Inconsistent Staffing There is no consistent CNA rotation, no reliable documentation, and no tracking. This makes it nearly impossible to safely discharge or transition a memory care resident. My grandmother is now experiencing behavioral issues, and the facility cannot provide any meaningful notes to support her care plan. 6. Unprofessional and Inconsiderate Management Upper management repeatedly schedules last‑minute meetings that I cannot attend because I have a family and responsibilities. They show no regard for families’ time, concerns, or the urgency of the issues we raise. Final Thoughts The Tribute at Melford presents itself as a high‑quality assisted living community, but the reality is far from it. The lack of accountability, unsafe vendor practices, poor communication, and failure to meet even the most basic care standards have put my grandmother’s health and safety at risk. Families deserve transparency. They deserve consistency. They deserve a facility that actually cares for the people entrusted to them. Sadly, that has not been our experience here.

Tribute At Melford is a very beautiful upscale and warm Assisted Living Facility. I was very impressed to get off of the elevator on the second floor to smell a Fresh sweet aroma. The entrance Lobby and the Lobby on the second floor has a good aroma.‘‘‘ I commend The Life Style Department for a job well done!

I will start this review with my wife has dementia and I had looked at five memory care facilities and came across Tribute at Melford. My first impression was am I at a hotel lobby when you walk in the door. It is very well laid out. I was very impressed and I was able to take a tour and was sold. With my wife having been at Tribute for five months, I am just as pleased as I was the first week. The staff has been great at every level of care my wife needs. I have never seen so much activity for memory care patient. Their is activity happening each day. I very pleased with Tribute at Melford and would recommend this facility to any who cares about the care of their love one. Reggie

As the caregiver for a 92yo resident who resides at the Tribute at Melford, I have been quite pleased with the care of the staff and his living arrangements since Nov 2023. The field trips organized by the activities manager provide him with highly anticipated trips to local destinations, the oversight of his medical conditions by the entire medical staff from the nurse, medicine technicians, physical therapists, to his daily caretaker staff have provided me with a comfort level for his well being while recovering myself. I am forever grateful to the staff for their care of my father.

My friends grandmother was there and had a wonderful experience. I went to visit, and the community was beautiful and she was very happy. The staff smiled everytime I passed them, and that made a huge difference for me. I would absolutely recommend!!

Our brother has been at Tribute for one year initially. He was very well attended, hoping everythings going to get better in the last month and a half. They’ve been shortstaffed not providing water in the bottle for the residence in the cold fridge. There are some concerns hope management gets it together, because my brother as a pillar of that community and they are lucky to have him . Most cases he speaks highly, but things have been short changed as a family. We need to understand family meeting tentatively in the works. Two weeks ago I would have given Tribute at Melford 4.5 Stars. But that was then and this is now. For two weeks Tribute has had absolutely no phone service and residents have been completely unreachable. My mother, like countless other Tribute residents, is elderly and longs for regular communication, which Tribute has denied her. Their complete failure to reconnect their phone service over such a prolonged period, provide residents with the use of cell phones or other solutions, is outrageous and only outdone by their utter lack of communication, updates or responsiveness to families. They have proactively shared nothing with families. And calls and messages from my family requesting an update and information have either resulted in repeated false repair deadlines or gone unreturned. Seriously!!! Tribute is an assisted living facility whose sole responsibility is to care for the mental and physical wellbeing of their residents. But by allowing their residents (who even with routine visits often feel isolated) to be cut off from communication with their family for such a prolonged period wholly fails to fulfill their duty of care. Tribute must know that connectivity is critically important for their residence. They need to stop failing them.

I noticed while reading reviews, the owner appears to reply only to the highly favorable ones. In my opinion, it implies a willingness to ignore instead of addressing concerns. I'd work on that due to senior communities having a reputation for bullying due to the actions of the on-site Manager's and staff's unprofessionalism.

It is a nice place. But some of the staff (CNAs and nurse) that I personally met are not trained properly and are very rude. They do not care about the safety and hygiene of my resident. I don’t want to put anyone in trouble. But it’s inacceptable to treat people like this. They need to start treating people with kindness, respect, and dignity.

There is terrible management here. To do not entrust these people with the care of your loved ones. The director is unresponsive, evasive, uncaring and unreliable. She sets the tone for many under her leadership to be the same way. As a result, services, and ultimately, residents suffer.

Finding a new home for a loved one who needs continuous care can be a challenge. There are many facilities but they are not all the same. Tribute at Melford of Bowie stood out to our family for several reasons. The environment is warm, inviting, clean and modern. All staff members we encountered were professional, attentive to residents, engaged with us and invited all questions about the facility, resident care and policies/procedures. As I browsed during the tour facilitated by Kenny Reynolds, Community Relations Director, I could see residents who appeared to be comfortably watching movies, dining and socializing in the beautiful dining hall and participating in activities throughout the facility. Having a clinical staff on-site to provide medical and pharmaceutical services represents another distinguished level of service that is not readily available at other assisted living facilities. Since becoming a part of the Melford family, our initial impressions have been affirmed. Tribute at Melford in Bowie, MD is EXCELLENCE beginning with the Executive Director, Ms. Rita Chapman, to her executive business and clinical teams, to administrative, caretakers and dining hall staff. I highly recommend this extension of home as a place for your loved one.

Friends of Ms. Delores H. We came to celebrate her 91st birthday. The staff was amazing from the front door welcoming staff as well as the nurces, and the chef along whis servers. We was served with a delicious lunch. The staff made sure we had enough to eat and drink. The manager was very pleasant and friendly just like the rest of his staff.we felt like royalty and hope to come again soon!

Don't let the exterior or lobby deceive you. The woman who shows the place will give false information about everything. When the family has any questions, good luck in getting them answered. If you really want a place for your loved ones, run, run as fast as you can. Their only concern is money not your loved one or the family.

Tribute of Melford in Bowie, MD is marketed as a new beautiful assisted living place on the OUTSIDE but lacks the financing for qualified staff, training, resident care and cleaning on the INSIDE due to too many vacancies and move outs! Terrible management that does not resolve problems before someone dies.

I know working with people like that can be difficult mentally emotionally and physically..yet you do it. Interacting with your residents trying to keep them interacting and motivated. My husband and I did a spontaneous visit to Tribute at Melford today. We had driven by it several months prior and admired the beautiful campus. A few weeks ago an acquaintance mentioned the property to us and how lovely it was. Everything about Tribute is five-star. The staff are welcoming, the property is well maintained, the amenities are countless, and the price is affordable. Kenny Reynolds, Community Relations Director, was so gracious in providing information and he spent time to take us on a tour. We will certainly share our experience with family and friends. Tribute at Melford is a hidden jewel.

Our family was searching for a home for our mom during the peak of Covid period, Tribute managed to keep the community covid free, staff was awesome! Friendly, polite and professional and care was exceptional.

This is a beautiful building and community with sub-par care. They have had at least 4 or 5 changes in management. I do not recommend putting your loved one here at this time. They will need 2-5 years to get it together. If your loved one needs consistent care, this is not the place for them right now. Perhaps with consistent management and hiring of suitable staff who know how to care for seniors, it will be a better place for someone to live.

I have toured this community a few times during the past few months. I found it to be a beautiful community. The current residents were talking to me as I walked through and all they all seemed happy to be there. I found the staff were very attentive to my concerns. I have had great interactions with the management team when discussing families who were interested in exploring senior communities. A family that recently moved in were well pleased with the warm welcome received by staff.

I visited Tribute a few times over the last couple of months to learn more about the community and tour. Staff was extremely conscientious in ensuring the safety of their residents during each visit. As I toured the community, I noticed that staff was very attentive when approached by residents needing assistance. I love the comfortable open space environment and natural light coming into the community. During my last visit, there was an ice cream social where Kona Ice was serving Hawaiian-style shave ice to residents, family and guests.
