Very nice suites. Building and areas are clean. Residents/staff seem very happy and friendly. Moving mom to the westhaven from another assisted facility very close by, seems it's a much better fit. Overall extremely impressed.

I’m a volunteer musician performing every Sunday at The Westhaven, and it’s a wonderful community. The residents are warm and welcoming. The staff are accommodating and hospitable. The facility is always clean and well-maintained. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for quality senior independent living, and please join my buddy Jay and me every Sunday at 2pm for great music and good company!

We just moved my aunt in to the Westhaven, an incredible staff, Oscar & Christine.. really all the staff have been so above & beyond supportive, caring, helpful and generous with there time & care. The food we had a few opportunities to try was delicious, real food, home cooked and well prepared. I was spending a couple days building new furniture and had a staff drop off a dinner as they knew I never left and was working for several hours without leaving.. just one of many special things the team did to help the transition of moving in. Highly recommend the westhaven.

My Mom lived here for about a year and a half .She blossomed there. She was happy and well taken care of. My husband would remark that she looked better and seemed healthier then she had in the 18+ years he has known her . She had been reluctant to give up her apartment and put off the decision for way too long.We really wished she had moved in sooner. They have activities ,good meals and companionship. Oscar and Toni as well as the other staff took great care of her!

Recently, Oscar and the staff of Westhaven Retirement Home assisted my husband and I in relocating his sister and her husband into their new home. From the front office management group, to the servers and maintenance staff, all were attentive to our needs and helped our family adjust quickly to their new environment. I moved my mom from BC to Winnipeg and into The Westhaven to be closer to me. My mom was only able to stay there for about 5 months before having to be transferred into long-term full care, but we were stuck between BC Health Care and MB Health Care and my mom needed more support than I was able set up for her because of the province transfer and red tape waiting times. The management and staff at the Westhaven were so incredibly kind, caring and accommodating with my mom as she struggled with dementia that was taking over her abilities at an impossible rate. While I was in the process of trying to get my mom her MB Health Care, so I could have her assessed and in proper care the staff went above and beyond to help her feel safe and welcomed during the most scary, vulnerable and overwhelming time of her life and I will be forever grateful to them ’ Not only are they a group of lovely people, the building itself is beautiful, well maintained, clean and the food options and entertainment/activities they provide are wonderful. Highly recommend!

My garan parents spent their last years here and always had great things to say about the staff and the food. My grandparents always liked good food and good people so it was wonderful when I got to visit they knw the names of the staff and had goos things to say about them. I called to thank them for the care of my grandparents and they rembered their names. I hope the staff know hoelw appreciated they are even when the people they work directly with have moved on. I'll always remember that building as a helping place with good people. The building was always very clean when I came to visit and the people staying there always seemed in good spirits. I have a photo of them in the dinning hall on valentines day, a staff member took it. I can't seem to attach it to this review but he loved that picture

My 89 year old aunt moved to the Westhaven almost 2 years ago after checking out other facilities in the Westwood area. She had lived with her husband in their own home for 60 years, and did not want to leave her home or the area after becoming widowed. A friend told her about her new home at the Westhaven. The manager, Oscar, and his staff were very accommodating and made special effort to ensure our introduction and experience were positive. We were able to see different types and sizes of apartments, facility amenities, entertainment program arrangements and enjoy a menu selection. My aunt is very social, independent and has a great sense of humor. The staff have accommodated her quirks and needs, making her consider them dear friends and family. As her contact person, I appreciate Oscar’s calls to update me on areas of concern when changes to her health are noted. Some will consider the rent a little high, but this does include, an emergency alert system, satellite TV, free access to van transportation to appointments and excursions, hydro, weekly housecleaning, in house mail service, a small store with delivery service and 2 menu choices 3 meals/ day. Meals can be delivered to the apartment upon request. Meal times are set up as small group social events. My aunt has been very happy at the Westhaven and hopes to remain in her new home as long as possible. Home care and private care will help this happen. The only downfall is the lack of close visitor parking.

My Mom has been at The Westhaven for going on 2 years . The Westhaven in my opinion is second to none for a seniors residence. My Mom is very happy and she is treated like family by the friendly and professional staff. My mother has lived at the Westhaven once 2021. Fantastic place. The director, Oscar leads a dedicated, professional, and caring staff. Together they navigated the difficult pandemic period very well. The facility is beautiful and well maintained. The housekeeping staff are assigned specifically to each resident which is great for consistency and quality. The quality and option of food choices are outstanding. The Westhaven is designed to be totally accessible but does not have an institutional look or feel. Activities and entertainment are plentiful and high quality. Security is good. There is a staff member on site 24/7 and an administrator present during the day, 7 days a week. My mother and our family have been exceedingly happy that we chose the Westhaven.

My elderly friend is having a hard time deciding if the timing is right for leaving her home of 58 years. She is a healthy 94 years young with good mobility. I called The Westhaven. We were treated to a wonderful lunch and given a tour of the facility. It's an elegant building with classic character, just lovely. The residents were friendly and in good spirits. The suites were very clean and well planned out. Tetiana, our guide was very caring and took the time to listen to my friend's concerns as well as answer all of our questions. My friend is still processing all the information but was impressed with what The Westhaven has to offer. A big thank you to Tetiana, Oscar and the serving staff who allowed us to experience this possibility for a future change in the next phase of my friend's life.

On top of This is a beautiful building and kept very clean the staff has been incredibly caring & considerate with my Gran after the recent passing of my Papa. Management and staff are very caring and provide for the overall wellbeing of mind, body and spirit of the residents who call it home. Oscar is extremely approachable and listens to the concerns of the people who live there. Before you make a decision of another home, give Oscar a call and he will gladly attempt to meet your needs of a home at a convenient location with many nearby amenities.

My brother lived at the Westhaven for many years. It is a very lovely facility with a very special group of people who give 100% towards ensuring seniors feel valued, respected and well looked after. The Homecare Team at the Westhaven are an amazing addition to the Westhaven Staff. As it came time for my brother to leave, the Manager Oscar and the entire Management team treated him and the family fairly and with respect. I do not think you would find any facility in Winnipeg that could or would do a better job of looking after seniors.

Oscar, Cindy and the team at The Westhaven are the best! They treated my aunt with dignity, respect and care that was amazing. They have a beautiful bedside approach with everyone and treat everyone with such love. It’s genuine and it’s rare nowadays. Do not hesitate about moving a loved one into this facility. Lovella made the process of having my mother move into The Westhaven a smooth and easy experience. She took the time to show me around and gave me all the information that my mother would need to make the transition as easy as possible. The location is optimal for my mother's needs and it's also close by for us to easily come by for visits.
