Home away from home Our Mom lived in the same single family residence in River Heights for 55 years and never wanted to leave. But after 3 weeks at River Ridge I, at the age of 93, she loved it and didn't want to leave. The staff was fantastic and made her feel completely at home, and she loved the entertainment and the other residents - where there was a very strong sense of community. The other residents were delightful and staff went well above and beyond on a daily basis. We were overjoyed at how well she was treated and how quickly she settled in. She never had a bad word to say about anything and loved living there. And while our Mom was the most positive person that we've ever known, we sincerely knew how much she felt like River Ridge was in fact her home, and that she never wanted to leave. We will be forever grateful for the outstanding support and guidance that the Executive Director, Shannon Chartrand, provided to our entire family (as we attempted to navigate new unfamiliar pathways both with and for our Mom), and for the standards set under her leadership, for the compassionate and loving care that was so evident throughout the entire staff at River Ridge I. My parents moved in to River Ridge 1 in Feb 2023. It was an adjustment of course, but it has been quite positive. Lots of programs to choose from. Outings as well. A driver for appointments and errands. It’s very social and I believe this to be a huge asset to anyone, especially as we age. The staff members are very caring and willing to listen to all concerns and ideas. It has given our family tremendous peace of mind to know they are and will be well taken care of.

We moved my Mother into RR and are delighted with the care, staff and activities there. I have joined her for dinner and the food was fantastic. The community really is special and Mom's new neighbours always look forward to seeing her at the afternoon parties, whether dancing, singing or just visiting.

This place has been great for my parents (86/89)! The staff are friendly, and they care! The food is good, although it must be difficult eating at the same restaurant every meal all the time! But they do a good job of trying to have different options. There’s lots of activities if you want to socialize.Lori is fantastic and full of energy and happiness! . Grateful we have River Ridge.

After a difficult transition out of her home, my grandma moved into a suite at River Ridge. The staff has been incredibly welcoming, and it is such a relief to know she is well taken care of. The social supports and activities help her settle into her new space, and the staff always ensure that she gets the support she needs and that her days are fulfilling. The lifestyle director Lori was especially helpful in this transition. Navigating having a grandparent who has cognitively declined quickly has been far from easy, but this place is the best option we could find to support in this stage of life. I highly recommend River Ridge I if you're looking for a supportive environment for a loved one.

I visited the property last week. The staff were so friendly and polite. The residents had smiles on their faces, they told me they loved living there and couldn't imagine being anywhere else!! It was an absolute pleasure seeing the smiles, listening to their stories, hearing how good the food was and that they were all looking forward to bingo starting up again! This is an incredible place to live out the golden years 🙂

Having recently helped relocate my parents to River Ridge 1 from several provinces away, I wanted to comment on the amazing atmosphere we immediately felt in this place. From the moment we got there, my parents felt like they belonged, and this was not only due to the beautiful suite and amazing facilities (not to mention the awesome view!) but especially because Renee, as well as the other staff and residents were so incredibly warm, welcoming and thoughtful. My parents have been there less than a week and they are already involved in the active yet laidback lifestyle that is a big part of this amazing place - art classes, dancing, cards, the awesome theatre, walking paths along the Red River, and lots of great food choices and socializing! I am very grateful they found River Ridge 1 and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a real sense of home and security.

River Ridge 1 has been a great new home for my Dad. He moved in 8 months ago and quickly settled in. He has a nice suite with a beautiful view. The staff has been very helpful and he has made good friends. I am grateful for all the services available to him. The staff has been very diligent in keeping residents safe during the pandemic and maintaining activities as safely as possible. Overall it has been a very positive experience!

I moved my parents back home from B.C. to Winnipeg they were needing more help and this was home.I had found the perfect place RiverRidge.... They were one of the first tenants. There was only a total of 10 people when they arrived. Pat the first Director and Nurse Betty were absolutely amazing! They welcomed them both and made them feel right at home.! With so few people in the building they were catered on hand and foot. 9 years later ,things have changed.Full house and alot of new staff. My dad passed away in 2014 .I am greatful to still have my mom there! Wonderful caring staff ,my mom is very happy and safe ! Thank you to all the staff , we appreciate all your help !

My Mom and Dad moved in last August to River Ridge 1. It was a tough move for them coming from another province and my father passing away shortly after the move but the staff at River Ridge 1 were fantastic! They were very welcoming and did everything they could to make the move in as easy as possible. The support my mother received was personal and caring. The staff get to know all the residence by name and the family can relax knowing their loved ones are well looked after. The facilities as very nice, clean and spacious. There are lots of great spaces for the residence to gather and many activities to get involved in as they choose. Feeding a large number of people with 100% satisfaction is challenging, but here, they work hard to please everyone with offering several options. During the pandemic, the staff worked very hard to keep all residence safe and had a great deal of success. If you are looking for a great place to live for the next chapter of your life, or a loved one, your first stop needs to be River Ridge 1.

They keep everyone safe in the facility. These include the tenants, their staff, families and visitors. They are doing a great job in protecting everyone specially this time of pandemic. I felt safe everytime I make my visit to the facility.

Dad absolutely loves this place! Nothing makes the family more happy than to see your loved ones still enjoying life as they age. River Ridge does just that! Dad has never complained about the food, the building is clean and the staff are happy. Knowing dad is happy and well cared for is all a family could ask for. I give River ridge 5 stars and I know dad would to.

I know mom is safe at River Ridge during this covid time. They are doing a great job keeping covid out. No cases, no outbreaks. Everyone there is doing a great job keeping mom safe. Mom got the vaccine the other day and for that we are thankful.

I have been to River Ridge a few times now visiting and every time I'm there, I'm made to feel welcome and at home. Everyone has a smile on their face and are very friendly..A game of pool was happening in the Bistro, BINGO was going on in the dining room, music was playing in the hallways, and everyone seemed happy! It just had a good feel.

The building is well maintained. everything is spotless and clean. The staff are friendly and very helpful. It's nice having a nurse and health care aids on staff. There is even a small store on site that has all the basic things a person might need like shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, paper towels and even cookies and snacks.

River Ridge 1 in Winnipeg is an amazing place for retirement. The staff are so friendly and so cooperative. Renee was so amazing in providing a detailed tour of the residence. With all things in the world upside down since 2020, River Ridge has been an absolute godsend to our family. While our parent's are still living in Winnipeg, and my brother and I both living in the US, the comfort of knowing there are eyes on them while we cannot visit provides us with peace of mind. Renee and the entire team were amazing to ensure that moving in last July went flawlessly for my parents and are always there to help, whether fussing with table leaf or running up deliveries. Our parents absolutely love their amazing view of the Red River and watching the change of seasons from comfort of their suite or balcony. We get constant communication and status updates on activities to keep everyone's spirits high, and are thrilled that they are getting their 1st CV19 shot tomorrow! Our mother has been in the River Ridge Retirement Residence for 8 years now and she is very thankful for being there and we , as her children, are very thankful for that. She is happy and often says that she is in the right place. She has a really nice suite, she has good meals, and is surrounded by caring staff. She moved into the enhanced assisted living last year and receives a few extra services. Whenever we have reached out to any of the executive staff for questions or concerns, we have received quick response and resolve. I would like to thank the staff for the measures that they have taken to keep our Mom, and the other residents safe through this time of the coronavirus.

This place has helped my mother in law transition from living at home all by her self to living in a safe little apartment. From the moment we met Renee almost a year ago until now. River Ridge Retirement Residence has been a blessing . . . not only for my Mother-in-Law, but for the entire family. My wife and I had visited on several occasions since the facility was built to get a feel for how my wife's parents could adapt to this environment when the time came for them to sell their home. On every occasion we were very impressed with the facility and the caring personnel we encountered. Indeed the faces on the residents themselves told the story of the excellent care they were receiving. With the passing of my Father-in-Law, we made an appointment for my Mother-in-Law to visit. What she experienced on that first visit was overwhelming. However, in large part due to the friendly and considerate demeanor of Renee Kelly, Lifestyle Director, she advised the family that she was ready to make the move. The physical move was co-ordinated by Renee with Leapfrog Moving. The move was effortless on our part. Mom's suite was professionally set up when she was called to enter for the first time, causing Mom to be very emotional. It had the effect of making her feel fully at home in her new residence. Mom has met many new friends, takes part in several activities, and benefits from frequent family visits to this accessible facility. Her attitude is positive whenever we contact her. It is clear that the entire family's stress level has decreased knowing that Mom is in a safe place. The entire family highly recommends River Ridge.

My frail 90 year old Dad loved Riverridge 1 Retirement Residence. He spent one year there prior to needing 24 hour nursing care. The picturesque dining room where he was served delicious meals on real linen tablecloths with real cutlery was his favorite activity. He also enjoyed Bocciball which he played from his wheelchair. He delighted in the fact that he often scored higher points in the game than those much stronger and more agile than he was. Bingo was another activity he participated in. There were many activities to keep him entertained. Also everyone who participated in any activity received play money to be able to take part in an auction that occurred once a month. The support from Home Care was also exceptional for the most part. You can be sure that your loved one will be cared for kindly and compassionately in Riverridge.

Whenever my aunt Olga K. and I come back from shopping or appointments, as we turn onto Ridgecrest and she sees the buildings she delightfully says "Oh goody goody, Home Sweet Home" or "I'm so tired, boy am I glad to be home." This place is the best of the best in assisted living. That's what they sell you on. When you live here the reality is somewhat different. They show you that they have a wonderful theater where you can enjoy movies. What they don't tell you is that they have to leave the doors open on the theater so that light from the outside washes over the screen diminishing the enjoyment of the movie. They tell you that they have excellent food. What they don't tell you is that the food is so inconsistent that you have no idea what they're going to bring to your table. If they bring anything at all. It is normal to sit and wait for 40 or 50 minutes before anybody comes to your table to ask you what you want to eat. You are told that you will get housekeeping and that they will vacuum your carpet clean your bedrooms and you bathrooms. What really happens is that they spend about 17 minutes in your apartment because they are so rushed with the amount of work that they have to do. The waitresses in the restaurant also have to clean your apartment. They then have to wait on you for your next meal and clean up after that meal before the end of their shift. They pay the hardest workers in the organization minimum wage and force them to work huge amounts. The poor women that do this work do it as best they possibly can. And are under constant pressure to do it faster and better with no renumeration Improvement. This is a disgusting corporate company that puts their guests and their employees second and their profits first.

Be wary of the nice decor......this doesn't ensure your loved ones are receiving the housekeeping etc they are being charged for! Also be careful not to take units with carpetingMy mother recently was placed in a nursing home after living in Riverridge for 5 years they have the audacity to charge her for replacing the carpets after we paid a professional cleaning company $1300 to clean a one bedroom unit. See pictures taken after move out! She was charged for housekeeping and I regularly had to change sheets clean bathroom and empty decaying food from fridge and cupboards A lot of staff turnover as well Again don't just look at decor.....look into quality of services!

This is physically a beautiful facility. However, there are issues with how services are provided. Apartment cleaning is superficial. The food quality has been declining over time. There has been some movement of staff to their new building, River Ridge II which has resulted in changes in the culture at River Ridge I.

The facility is clean and well maintained. The dining room is sunny and bright. The food is good quality. The staff are very friendly, helpful and patient with the residents. The apartments are a nice size, and security is good.
