We moved our dad to Adelaide a few months ago from another Assisted Living facility. Adelaide is only a few years old and thoughtfully designed for the specific needs of the community. The rooms are beautiful, and the common areas filled with natural light. We especially like the cafe and the outdoor area. The management is very knowledgeable about the social, emotional and medical needs of those with memory issues. They are dedicated, compassionate and always willing to "think out of the box". The attentiveness we were given during the intake process did not stop once our dad moved in. We are greeted by name every time we visit, and various members of management are always happy to give an update on how our dad is doing. We feel our dad is living exactly where he needs to be at this stage in his life. The fact that our dad is safe and is treated with dignity and respect at Adelaide is priceless. Furthermore, we are grateful for the partnership we have with the team at Adelaide. This is a stark contrast to the difficulties we had at the Assisted Living community our dad had previously lived.

Adelaide provided superb support for my partner after covid exacerbated his neurodegenerative diseases. The staff are kind, professional, and full of positive energy. They get to know each resident, showing a genuine interest in their life while respectfully meeting needs that are pretty disabling. Other reviews here cite individuals for their empathy and good humor. I would have to name everyone from the nursing staff to the cleaning crew. This is a great team doing a job they clearly enjoy. The building is lovely, full of sunlight and pleasant architectural design. The rooms are exceptionally clean and the laundry is remarkably well-tracked. (Only two socks lost!) The activities – oldies music, chair yoga, scenic outings – are appropriate for the residents. In our experience on the 1st floor, the residents are well groomed, escorted to eat in the dining room and encouraged to join group activities. Patience is never in short supply. To our relief, my partner has recovered considerably and has moved to a more social assisted living environment. The staff provided helpful encouragement in this scary transition. We will come back if we need Adelaide’s memory care again in the future.

It was very difficult making the decision to take Mom from her home, but Adelaide’s stimulating environment, bright colors and lights, nice fragrance, great layout, and homey feel made me realize everything my mother was missing by staying at home with a personal aide. I see her coming back to life at Adelaide!

I truly cannot say enough good things about Adelaide. I think people have a tendency to leave reviews when something hasn’t gone to their liking, and transitioning a loved one to a new living environment can be understandably emotional, but I think expectations can often be *way* over the top. But this place is exemplary. In my family’s case, we moved my father from another place to Adelaide, as he simply wasn’t being given the kind of quality care he needed, especially given his complicated diagnosis of Lewey-Body dementia. That team, while well intentioned, just didn’t have the knowledge or capability to care for him properly. So, while my father was initially very upset about the move, Adelaide’s skilled team kept in touch with us numerous times over that first day, and I was truly blown away at how quickly they figured out his needs and quirks. Janelle helped by providing all of the initial information and walking us through the easy process of moving him there. She was totally transparent about pricing (which is very sound and comparable to other places). Her warmth and grace were not missed, especially during what could have been a seriously stressful time! Adrianna, who mostly works closely with family members, is an absolute godsend, and although my father had basically refused to leave his room at his former place, she had him out in the dining room for meals from the start, something no one could make happen for ages! Not only that, but on day one, she learned enough about him to pair him up with two other residents as dinner companions, and my dad had actual conversation with colleagues! I was and am still stunned at her skill, compassion, and communication with us. She is always very available, and I am routinely impressed with how much she “gets” my dad and his type of dementia. Nick is another staff member who has connected with my father. Dad is very particular about who he accepts, and Nick is for sure another of his favorite people. Such a wonderful young man, and I am so grateful he’s in my dad’s life. He’s always responsive to emails, and also full of positive things to say about my father, even though I know how tough my dad can be. An absolute sweetheart and genuinely wonderful human. Amanda is the Executive Director, and she is clearly very involved with all staff and totally on top of absolutely everything. I have had experiences in the past with directors who have said the right things and not followed through. That is not Amanda. The care she shows for her staff, the residents, the families…? It’s exactly what I’d want to see. I especially appreciate the staff, given that my father’s baseline mood had formerly been pretty depressed. Adelaide staff are able to redirect him very quickly. He’s been out of his room for all meals, attending music events, and more. There are also weekly medical and psychiatric specialists, access to PTs, etc. Aside from the quality care in that realm, the actual physical building is beyond what one could hope for. It’s only a few years old, and Adelaide was built entirely around memory care needs. Like, the physical design, the lighting… everything! And the programming is wild, including cool virtual reality stuff that works to improve cognition. But there are SO many daily activities, and all are about addressing and helping cognition. I’d strongly encourage anyone considering Adelaide to watch the video on their site. I could not be happier, nor more relieved, that we moved my father here. While I know that he’s not going to “get better,” it’s as though I can breathe again because he is such competent, loving care.

When I saw Adelaide described as a luxury facility, I assumed that it would be unaffordable. In fact, Adelaide is less expensive than was the memory-care facility from which I moved my husband, and in every possible way, it's wonderful. The building is bright and beautiful. Especially impressive is the courtyard, where residents can enjoy time outdoors in a secure setting. Adelaide staff members communicate well with my husband and my family. I'm particularly grateful for the kindness, patience, and skill of Adrianna Alpaugh and Nick Boutourline. My husband is receiving the medical care he needs, and he is clean and well-groomed. At his previous facility, he never left his room. At Adelaide, he goes to the dining area for all three meals—a triumph!

Im using my husbands account to write this review. My mother had a very difficult time last spring and we were so relieved she was able to join the community at Adelaide. The director is experienced, knowledgeable and professional, and the associates there working with my mother treat her with kindness, respect and compassion. They know her personality and share anecdotes about her with me, which makes such a difference. I have been extremely impressed with the attending physician there and the nursing staff, who provide excellent care, are proactive and very responsive. It is a huge relief to know they are looking out for my mother. The chef goes out of her way to please the residents with dishes they have requested. Every person working there is committed to giving the residents the best possible experience. I am so grateful that we found Adelaide at this point in my mothers journey. Denise

After a hospitalization last September 2019 my sister-in-law, Susan, a victim of Alzheimers, was in urgent need of a memory care community. I took a pre-opening tour of Adelaide and it was love at first sight. I was extremely appreciative and impressed when Susan Cwieka, Executive Director, arranged for a short-term stay at another Benchmark facility until Adelaide opened on October 15 and my sister-in-law became the very first resident. During the past year I have been extremely impressed with the compassionate care, the varied activities and programs, the consistent communication and transparency shown by each and every staff member. When the pandemic prevented outside visitors, Susan Cwieka instituted an informative bi-weekly Zoom meeting including various staff members and residents family members. Adelaide has not only given my sister-in-law excellent care, but also provided me with peace of mind.

The care given my wife at Adelaide at Newton Centre was exceptional, in all respects. Adelaides management, all the caregivers, activities, food and other essential services were of the highest quality, and the ceaseless attention to protecting residents from the risks of the COVID pandemic was doubly important. This was professional care at a high level, leaving our family grateful at every visit.
