Nice building, but pricing is outrageous. I originally had a love one move into Memory Care Unit (downstairs) in Spring 2021 at a contracted monthly unit rate of $9,300/month (plus a $4k community move-in fee). That was agreeable with us. But then, every 6 months, the price increased based on their “service care levels” which are NOT included in monthly unit rate. By Spring 2023, the cost had increased greatly to $16,100/month! That’s over $193k per year!! Anyone thinking of moving a loved one into their Memory Care Unit NEEDS TO BE AWARE of these HIGH “service care level (1-8)” cost they can be charging. Also, I agree with above comments, I too experienced issues with strong urine smell in private room. Noticed a lot of staff turn-over (with Director, nurse managers, and care aides, etc) plus noticed A LOT of care aides on their phones all the time. Based on the price we were paying (over $16k/month), I was very disappointed with the level of care here.

This community is truly lovely! The staff is so cordial and attentive to residents. I would highly recommend this community to anyone looking to reside in the Hingham area. Great job team!!!

HORRIBLE! This facility should not be allowed to care for elderly patients with dementia. My mom was found on multiple occasions with double briefs which is against state regulations and can cause urinary tract infections; my mom had 3 UTI's during her stay at PH. The staff are lazy and not trained to do basic resident care. I found the aides most often in the kitchen talking on their phones instead of taking care of the residents - many of whom were walking around smelling of urine and feces, day after day! Not a healthy place to send your loved ones! There are plenty of other, better, safer options on the south shore.

Thank you to the staff at The Residence at Penniman Hill, Deb Hyson, Janie Salani, reception, chef(s) for supporting our networking group last week and for your generous support of our efforts.

Do not send your loved one here! False advertisement and fake staff from corporate! You cannot age your loved one in place unless you pay extra for private care! Memory unit staff is not trained and cannot find anyone half the time! There is not nursing 24/7 as advertised, the nurse leaves at 8pm. Be warned!

From Laura at the front desk to the great management staff, always a pleasure to be at Penniman Hill. As a move manager I know my clients will be well cared for.

CRITICAL AWARENESS! The building is gorgeous however the staff severely neglected my mom. She was on the Memory Care Unit; the staff knew she was exit seeking and she still exited at 5am on Christmas Morning. Although an alarm went off, they did not look for any resident who may have exited. No one was safe. Unfortunately, my mom was outside in 36-degree weather, wearing minimal clothing, for an hour. She was traumatized and her disease progressed due to this outrageous experience. Please consider other homes for your loved one. My mom's life ended sooner than it should.

The Residence at Penniman Hill is the absolute best place I could have had my mother live at. It is not only beautiful and clean but you will find no other staff as genuine, caring, helpful, and loving as at Penniman Hill. The hardest thing to do is leave a parent but here my mom had family. She considered all the staff family and her community became her nearest and dearest friends Moms second life began the minute walked though those doors. Our first visit she told me she was living here and that's that. Thank you all for making Penniman Hill home!

I cannot say enough about Penniman Hill. Especially the Reflections Neighborhood staff. It was a difficult decision for my family to move my grandfather to a memory care facility. And even though it was only for the last 6 weeks of his life, he came alive again there. It was the best decision we made for him. The last weeks of his life he was engaging and laughing in a way he had not been living at home with dementia. My family will forever be thankful for the care and compassion my grandfather received there.

My grandfather was a resident here at penniman Hill for a short few months before his passing. But for the short months he was there. He was so happy and being active he had gained from friends and enjoyed the staff here. They go above and beyond for all whom stay there and including family. We had the pleasure of getting close with Mrs cindy and can't express how thankful my family including my own self and grandpa are you penniman Hill in Hingham.

Penniman was an excellent choice for us and for my 97 year old mother-in law. The facility is wonderful and the staff is competent and a delight to deal with. Couldn't be happier

Caring, helpful, kind, compassionate, fun, happy..these are just a few of the words that come to mind when I think about the Staff at Penniman. My mom who suffers from Alzheimer’s but remains independent with all her ADLs has absolutely flourished since we moved from another independent facility to Penniman. She is happier and busier than she has been in years and my brother and I are so grateful that our Mom is in such a warm supportive environment. She is loving the meals and socialization of the wonderful residents who quickly became her friends!

I recently moved my father from out of state into memory care. The staff was so welcoming during my initial visit. They were compassionate and empathetic while they supported me and my father during this transition. Because of his dementia, the transition to memory care was challenging. The staff worked with him to help him through this time. They incorporated his cultural preferences into everything-from menus, to conversations....anything to make him feel welcome and comfortable. We are just over a month in and each day gets better for my father. When I visit (unannounced) I can tell that he is cared for in a setting that works to support his cognitive impairment. The resident rooms and areas are clean with lots of natural lighting. The staff comes to work energetic and ready to make a difference. I am truly thankful!

Have only been there 30 days however what I have seen and experienced so far is well deserving of a 5 star review. The facility is in a word FABULOUS, in two words ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. Everyone on staff works hard to keep it that way.The staff are well trained, roles and responsibilities are clearly understood. The residents ‘are clearly the top priority and whenever possible every effort is made to accommodate the resident.I have no previous experience in an Assisted Living Facility but I cant imagine theres another leadership team around with more knowledge , more enthusiasm, more compassion, more focus on the residents experience, more respectful of the their leadership teammates. Executive Director, Jean Norte leads the entire team by example Every day. Yes, theres fun And creativity every day too.The residents or friends are a great mix of personalities. Everyone shows sincere respect for one another. True and lasting friendships are being formed everyday. The food is excellent and service is very good. Kitchen management aims to please all. There is an obvious environment of open mindedness and solicitation of new food ideas to satisfy the residents.Every associate in every department is very resident focused. Most are long term professionals caring for residents with compassion and a lot of heart.
