April 2026
My family and I are incredibly grateful for the care my uncle received at Cornerstone Assisted Living at Canton. When he first moved in, he believed he was entering a sad, closing chapter of his life. Instead, it became a beautiful and unexpected new beginning. From the very start, he was treated as more than just a resident. He was truly known. People greeted him by name, took the time to learn who he was, and paid attention to the little details that meant so much, like always having his black coffee and diet ginger ale ready at lunch and dinner. Those small, thoughtful gestures made a big difference and showed how deeply the staff cared. What stood out most was the sense of genuine community. Every single person, from the custodial staff to the care assistants, waitstaff, front desk, nursing team, and activity staff, treated him with kindness, dignity, and respect. They would joke with him, laugh with him, and make him feel like himself. He was not just living there, he belonged there. We are especially grateful to Nell, the Enriched LIFE Director, whose warmth, energy, and genuine care helped shape such a vibrant and welcoming environment. Nell takes the time, not just with my uncle but with all residents, to truly know them, to understand their stories, and to recognize their value as human beings. She sees them not only as people with a past, but as individuals with a present life that she works hard to fill with joy, fun, and meaningful experiences. One small but incredibly meaningful example of her thoughtfulness, and there were countless others, was when she tracked down a high school yearbook from his graduation year. It meant so much to him and to our family, and it speaks volumes about the kind of care she provides. She is enthusiastic and exudes positive energy, joy, and kindness in everything she does. When the time came for hospice care, we were equally touched by the compassion and coordination between the hospice team and the Cornerstone staff. It was seamless, supportive, and full of dignity. During those final weeks, at least 10 staff members would stop by daily just to check in, say hello, and spend a moment with him. That level of care and humanity is something we will never forget. Cornerstone gave my uncle not just care, but joy, companionship, and a renewed sense of purpose in his final years. It was truly a blessing for him and for all of us who loved him.

I will be forever grateful for the wonderful experience my mother had at Cornerstone of Canton. The ENTIRE Cornerstone staff and community truly enhanced the quality of my mother's life. While at Cornerstone, all activities- social, musical, artistic, physical, cognitive and spiritual filled my mother's day with purpose and happiness. Thank you, Cornerstone.
February 2026
My Mom just had a two-week respite after an injury and the team at Cornerstone was incredibly helpful in transitioning her from the hospital and caring for her during her time there. Even though she was going through a difficult time, my mother spoke highly of her caretakers, the daily activities and thought the food was wonderful. Assisted living is a very challenging thing to navigate for both the resident and family members. Cornerstone was very supportive and made difficult decisions easier. We highly recommend.

Our mother was getting to the point where cooking, cleaning and caring for herself were becoming overwhelming tasks. We began to look for alternatives. For a short time we hired different people for various tasks. The amount of exposure to so many people and the task of mom remembering names, times etc. was not working. We had a short term month long stay for mom to rehab in Spring 2025 at Cornerstone. When we knew we had to make a permanent change we looked in greater Boston ( southern area). So glad we chose Cornerstone again. The staff could not be more kind and responsive to the people who live there. They have someone 24 hours to answer the phone and immediately check on the loved one who may not be answering the phone in their room. Also a nurse for any immediate medical issues. The rooms are pleasant and each person may bring their own bedroom furniture. The staff sit people together during mealtime so everyone gets to meet other people who live there. This is truly a Community of caring and kindness. So glad they had room for our mother! She loves it there and everyday is a happy one!

This past fall, my 94-year-old mother sustained a fall which had her spend five nights in a hospital before being sent to a rehabilitation facility. Prior to her fall, my mother had enjoyed a remarkably robust life for a woman her age. During her childhood, my mother spent extended time in an orphanage. The idea of being admitted to any facility, therefore, carried the sting of remembered trauma. This early history motivated my mother to be independent during her life, working at a cafeteria job into her 88th year. So, while my mother struggled to recover in rehab, she and our family were quite anxious about what Mom’s next stage might entail. Uncertain about my mother’s ability to return to independent living, I researched several assisted living facilities during her convalescence. It was during this period when I was first introduced to Rebecca Scalzo, Cornerstone’s Executive Director. After sitting with Rebecca at Cornerstone to learn about the facility, Rebecca accompanied me on a tour. Though, by this time, I had also visited other facilities, it was immediately obvious that this one was different. Clean, cheerful, active, vibrant; and, with only 65 residents, all of this on a scale that was quite comfortable “ not at all institutional. I knew my mother would not be intimidated. During the course of the tour, Rebecca was called away twice. In both instances, I had two independent, unplanned, encounters. In one case, with a resident, and the other, with one of the care staff. I was struck by how genuinely positive both were about life at Cornerstone. Though, in rehab, my mother made a remarkable recovery, which allowed her to return to independent living (my brother and wife live in the same, over 55, community), when my brother and sister-in-law left recently for an extended trip to Europe, we opted to experiment and have our mother spend the better part of a month at Cornerstone. Having spent over a month at hospitals and rehabilitation centers as a result of her fall, my mother (who leans towards introversion) was understandably anxious about being sent to yet, another facility. My mother LOVED Cornerstone. When asked now what she misses about her time in Cornerstone, my mother reports: (1) The staff. Without exception, people were caring, kind and attentive. On admission, my mother was given a pendant to carry. She was encouraged to use the pendant to call for help for absolutely any reason, from something important, like medication assistance, to something trivial, like assistance finding a desired channel on her television. (2) The meals. Rather than a Hampton Inn breakfast room affect, as was the case with some other assisted living facilities I had explored, dining at Cornerstone was like going to a friendly restaurant. She was greeted by name. There was always a food selection she looked forward to learning about. And, my introverted mother began seeking out the company of other dinning residents for whom she developed affection. (3) The social interaction. My mother recognized that the thrice-a-day trip to the dining room brought her through the community space in which other residents would gather for trivia, movies, music, and other educational and cultural activities. My introverted mother, at 94, became less introverted; far less so than had been the case at her over 55 home. With my brother returned from his trip, my mother returned back home as had been planned. Now, however, she is questioning whether she wants to make Cornerstone her permanent home. We agreed to allow her at least a month to settle into her old ways before more formally making a decision about where home will be. I can think of no better testament to the high level of care and community which exists at this wonderful place, then my mother’s musings about a return to Cornerstone. Finally, from a business perspective, I have served mid-sized business as a professional for four decades. Respectfully, George P. Bukuras

I brought my mom for a week of Respite Care. She was in the Compass Memory Care area. She had an amazing week. She loved all the activities and said the food was great. The staff was a great to work with when we were looking at the facility and while my mom was there. They sent me pictures of my mom everyday and updated us on what she was doing. I will be bringing her for another stay the next time we need a getaway.

My parents recently stayed at Cornerstone at Canton for a short respite stay, and I was very impressed with the experience. From the start, everyone I interacted with was exceptionally friendly, caring, and professional. The intake process was thorough and thoughtful ” the staff took time to meet with me and my parents to understand their needs and make sure the facility would be a good fit. What really stood out was how much effort they put into making my parents feel comfortable as the facility’s first and only Chinese-speaking residents. Even though no one on the care staff spoke Cantonese, they went above and beyond by creating custom translated food menus and having a member of the kitchen staff who spoke Cantonese personally check in on them and prepare special meals. Those gestures made a real difference and showed how much the staff truly care about their residents. Cornerstone at Canton combines professionalism with genuine compassion, and I’m very grateful for the care and kindness they showed my parents.

My aunt first came to Cornerstone at Canton for a short-term respite stay to recuperate after a fall. The staff was so wonderful and caring that she was happy to go back permanently once it became clear her house no longer worked for her. The facility is always clean, she raves about the food, and the employees, everyone from the maintenance crew to the administrators, are friendly and helpful. There are plenty of activities every day, but they are very respectful in letting residents decide how involved they want to be. Most of all, I cannot say enough good things about the hard-working aides who go above and beyond to take care of my aunt and the other residents. I rest much easier knowing how well cared for she is. I looked at many, many facilities before picking Cornerstone, and this by far had the most accomodating staff and nicest amenities.
March 2025
Our Mom was here for over 4 years. It was a wonderful experience. She had many friends there (including a lot of the workers). We were happy with the care (especially Jenn). Nell and her team were also amazing. Dawn was part of her care team in recent times and was a great addition. The dining and housekeeping staff bent over backwards for our Mom. It is a great place

Rebecca Scalzo, the executive director is knowledgeable, kind, and an expert in aging. Her dementia awareness trainings are powerful and insightful, I highly recommend working with this community.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about corner stone, especially the amazing ,caring, professional staff!!!! My mom is a new resident there, She was so nervous and anxious when she first arrived and on top of that she had vertigo. When I go in to visit her every night after work she has been sitting in the dining room chatting with different residents and the first thing she says when she sees me is everybody is just so nice here!!! Thank you all again for making this transition go smoothly and to all of you for being so attentive ..Jen Thoren, you are a rockstar.!! Thank you again for everything!!!! if anybody is looking for an assisted living facility, I would highly recommend corner stone it has fast surpassed my expectations

My father has Alzheimer’s and last year became unable to remain at home any longer. It was a very difficult decision for our family to move him but his health and well-being depended on having a level of care that a memory unit provides. I’ve been a physical therapist for 30 years and I’ve specialized in dementia care for most of them. I’ve worked in many assisted living facilities and memory care units over the years and I can tell you that this one is the best I’ve seen. I’m incredibly grateful that my father is getting the care he deserves and our family can rest easily knowing he’s happy and well cared for. The administration has been incredibly thoughtful and supportive in assisting our family with the challenges inherent with the transition and now my father is busy making new friends and doing community activities all day!

I can't begin to imagine what it is like to reach a point where after living in the same house you raised a family, celebrated the majority of your adult life, experienced both loss and grief and joys and challenges, you come to the decision that you need to find and relocate to an appropriate alternative living arrangement. This is what our mom had to do after living in her home for 70 years. It is no small undertaking. It comes at a time in your life that the concept can be overwhelming. Change can seem daunting. As we discussed the benefits of assisted living with our mom, we anticipated moving forward would be difficult emotionally and physically. Choosing and then moving mom into her choice of Cornerstone was not without manageable challenges but, the experience was nothing but positive. Thanks to the staff's genuine care, patience, communication skills and kindness and respect for each other and Cornerstone's residents, Mom couldn't be happier with what she calls her new "home". She raves about the care she receives, the meals served, the quality of the staff and the access to the art room. When we visit and interact with the staff i.e. Jenn and Nel (among others) we know she is living in a healthy, trustworthy place under the care of some pretty special people. We are grateful for the ease of this significant transition made possible by the Cornerstone staff.
August 2023
My mom was living independently in her second floor apartment for the past 10 years. She fell in early April and was hospitalized and in rehab with Covid. Her next step was moving to Cornerstone at Canton. It was already by far my favorite of all the assisted living facilities we’d visited in the past. She just turned 95 this summer and is thriving there due to the awesome care she has gotten along with healthy meals and fun and informative activities. The place is always lively and so immaculate! The decor definitely does not shout out that old people live here! I love visiting because everyone who works there is so nice and has really gotten to know my mom. Most importantly I know she’s in a warm loving and safe environment.
September 2022
My mother has been at Cornerstone since August 2020 and I am a resident of Cantin. We moved her from another facility and she has been thriving here. We picked this facility because many friends in Canton recommended it. Mom has Alzheimer’s but the Connected Life program has been so good for her. She loves all the activities, especially music and art. The staff here are caring. They interact more with my mother than where she used to live. For the person who gave a one star review and mentioned music I am not sure what they’re talking about. Based on the date the review was given I assume it was made after a concert outside last Saturday that was for residents and families. I attended with my mother and she loved it. The music was not inappropriate. The residents loved it and all were singing along or clapping and some were dancing. It was also at 6-7 pm at night so it wasn’t late either. It was a wonderful event that raised money for the Alzheimer’s association.
October 2021
My mom stayed at Cornerstone at Canton in the memory care area for several months as a temporary measure until an apartment became available at their Milford location. I found the staff and care there to be exceptional and would strongly recommend this community. As a physician assistant at a local hospital I am well aware of the needs of age related conditions and the varying quality of care of assisted living facilities. Cornerstone has exceeded in areas of professionalism, kindness and communication. The programs kept my mom engaged and busy throughout the day often with live music and singing which my mom truly enjoys. Every effort was made to keep my mom safe and happy. Mike Schaus, Julie, WIlgard, Jenn, Olivia, Samantha and all the staff will truly be missed.
July 2021
The Compass memory care neighborhood within Cornerstone at Canton has been a blessing for my mom and my family. She gets a comfortable clean apartment with her own familiar furniture & decorations, and a community of friendly residents, warm, PATIENT & caring staff, and a huge variety of activities and supervised outings to keep her engaged and active. And the dining room always smells fantastic! Plus, their menus focus on nutritious options at every meal with an emphasis on brain health balanced with treats in moderation. For me & my family, they provide peace of mind, knowing mom is safe, comfortable and cared for with staff on site 24/7/365, and we love that her rate is reasonable compared to similar facilities and reasonably fixed with few variations for ease in financial planning. Visiting settings are always pleasant with the options to visit in mom’s apartment, either of the 2 spacious & comfortable indoor common areas, or the large outdoor courtyard, which is great that it’s on the first floor and still enclosed for security. We also love that the layout of the Compass memory neighborhood is a square so it’s impossible for mom to get lost even when she can’t remember which apartment is hers or sometimes even that she has an apartment here. The personal displays outside of each room seem to help a lot and we’re glad she’s here!

We are so grateful to have found Cornerstone for my mom. Although she moved in during the pandemic much care was taken to keep residents safe. I cannot believe the number of activities provided. She is living a much fuller life than she ever would have had at home. She is never in her room! Most important, the staff truly knows her, took her on walks when she was new and unsure, helped her make friends, and recently threw her a wonderful birthday party. I know she is safe and I know she is happy.

I cannot say enough good things about Cornerstone! My Dad, who is a pretty spry 97 year old, moved in to Cornerstone on a trial respite stay in January 2019...and never left. After my Mom, his wife of 60 years, passed in June 2018, he was so lost. He soon moved in with my husband and me down the Cape. As much as We loved having him with us, he was a little unsteady and we didn’t feel comfortable to leave him alone. He really didn’t want anyone to come to the house, so I suggested Cornerstone. He said Ok! The process of getting him in on a respite was so pleasant, and he liked it so much he decided to stay! From the very first day, until now nearly 2 years later, each and every interaction I’ve had with the staff has been exemplary. My Dads Cornerstone family loves him, watches out for him, and absolutely cherishes him! My gratitude is endless, and their response to protecting my Dad and all the residents during the pandemic has been beyond reproach. I know he can’t be with us, and I’m so grateful that he is there, and I know he’s safe in every way. I particularly appreciate Mike and Nell, Eileen and Mikayla in the kitchen, and Nurse Carl. God bless all of you! I could go on for days, but as usual I’m crying and have to go Dry my tears! Thank you to everyone at Cornerstone for the loving care you give him every day!
December 2020
Cornerstone has been a wonderful and stress free environment for my brother, Brian. With COVID I felt completely confident that he was well taken care of and in a very safe facility. Michael kept us updated at least twice weekly on both the safety precautions taken and any prearranged visits we could sign up for. The constant activities were lively and fun for all. Having the comfort and confidence that your loved one is being well cared for and happy has convinced me that Cornerstone is the best assisted living facility in the area. Thank you

Cornerstone at Canton has saved my family. My father has suffered from anxiety and depression, as well as a few recent falls, and after being hospitalized for a lengthy amount of time, he needed a place to heal and feel safe again. Cornerstone has been this place. The staff is genuinely kind and caring. They know all the residents and treat them with the dignity and respect that all people deserve. Walking into Cornerstone, I am greeted by people who love their job and just want to help families and their loved ones feel comfortable and cared for. I would recommend this place to any family who is seeking a place for a loved one. The care that is given to all residents and their family members is of the highest quality.
October 2020
We had a difficult decision to make about how to help my Uncle, who's dementia was getting worse and lived alone in HI (And in the middle of COVID). Thom made that whole process as stress free as anyone could. His caring and calm made me feel like I had a friend helping me through the whole process. Don't know how to adequately express my gratitude for that time. Then you wonder if you made the right decision and that is where everyone else at Cornerstone comes into play. My Uncle is in the memory unit and the care and thoughtfulness shown by the staff is truly a blessing. From Julie and her team with all her work with the residents, engaging them in fun activities to the amazing staff that are watching out for his health and safety. They call with any issues or just to update me on something they feel I should know about, which just makes you feel so comfortable that you know they will let you know if there are any concerns. As we walk around with my Uncle, everyone knows him and say hello and often add a comment on how he is doing. To thoughtful calls - the recent one that comes to mind was my Uncle was going to my dad's birthday party and they called to give me an update the day before. They wanted him to look his best for the party 🙂 So, if you need a warm and safe place for your loved one, I highly recommend Cornerstone.

Wonderful and caring staff. Fun activities everyday and really attentive nursing staff. My family is very grateful for all the love and compassion that is shown by this team.

I have had three relatives living at Cornerstone at Canton; my father, uncle, and aunt. It has been the most positive and rewarding experience. The management team has shown great leadership and provides quality care, as shown by the containment of the cornavirus in a high risk envirnment. Michael Schaus directs the business aspect of the facility, but also knows each resident personally. His warm manner makes it easy for the residents to connect with him. He is most often seen engaging with the residents. Nell Kavolius plans and participates in all the fun activities, which adds such a great energy. Her enthusiasm is contagious! The qualified nurses are always available to take my calls and answer questions and concerns. We have not needed the memory care unit, but I have heard good things about it. I have informed a friend about Cornerstone and once the family took the tour, they signed their mother up as a rersident. Her mother is happy, safe, and thriving. Cornerstone at Canton is an answer to prayer for our loved ones.
July 2020
If I could live here myself, I would! We chose Cornerstone as a means to provide respite care for my aging grandfather, and we could not have made a better choice. Every day members of the Cornerstone team greet you with a smile and caring disposition. Every team member goes above and beyond to make sure that the residents feel engaged, and included. As I mentioned, my grandfather was a respite resident through the winter months. During that short time he was able to develop new friendships, enjoy outings, and live entertainment, but most importantly he gained a certain sense of independence back. Cornerstone also provided our family with peace of mind. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and openly communicated any issues that arose quickly and efficiently. Since being home all Papa cares to talk about is his time spent at Cornerstone. I think that says it all!
July 2020
My mom was one of the first residents of this Cornerstone, and I am totally confused by negative reviews. In those five years (wow, I can't believe it!), the staff has been caring and upbeat. They have helped me and mom through the transitions of ageing, through surgery, rehab, and now Covid-19. I highly recommend Cornerstone because of the professionalism of the staff, the caring nature of the community, and most importantly, the upbeat, positive atmosphere of the entire facility.
May 2020
Our family is very happy with the great care our mother is receiving at Cornerstone. We appreciate the kindness, attentiveness, delicious menus and good programs. The staff are friendly and helpful. I would like to thank Michael and Thom for all they do to keep everything running smoothly. I want to commend Nell and Mikayla for all they do for our mom's well-being and Thom for his kindness in taking time every day to visit with our mom. We are grateful she is safe and doing well. We couldn't ask for more!
January 2020
We chose Cornerstone at Canton for our Mother's respite care after being discharged from a rehab facility for a trip and fall injury. The level of attention and personal care given to her and our family, from the initial calls, upon our arrival and continuing throughout her stay were second to none. Fantastic staff, spotless facility and we would like to personally thank Mike, Senior Executive Director, Thom, Assistant Executive Director and the many others that do such a great job.
December 2018
What a beautiful and engaging place to be for the residents. Every month I bring a group of middle school students to the facility in Canton to participate in activities with the residents. We play games, make holiday decorations, sing songs, share stories, and celebrate! The students and residents enjoy their time together and are always excited to see each other again. Kudos to the team enriching the lives of these residents!
August 2018
Since my father moved in to corner stone two years ago he has had a wonderful experience. All of the staff are attentive and thoughtful. The focus on both a healthy diet and regular activities have been a wonderful benefit to him. I strongly recommend corner stone to anyone in the area.
June 2018
Our family is very pleased with services at Cornerstone at Canton, Our mother has lived there for two years. During that time she transferred to the memory care unit. The transition was flawless. She is engaged, active and to quote her "I love it". She has a healthy mediterranean diet, daily physical and cognitive activities. All provided in a supportive, individualized manner. The staff knows our mother and her needs. We are kept informed of any concerns. We have peace of mind and know that she is in a safe, caring, professionally run setting- Stephen Tolias.
May 2018
After my Grandfather fell we were not comfortable with him going to his home and living alone. However, he was no where near the type who needed a full on nursing home. Cornerstone was the perfect choice for us. By giving him the freedom he needed but the piece of mind we needed knowing there were nurses and other staff available around the clock. The entire staff is so friendly and lively. He loved the constant activities that were planned day to day. The decor throughout is so bright and modern. The food is DELICIOUS. I really can't say enough about this place. Highly recommend!
August 2017
After mom suffered a small stroke and ready to be discharged from rehab, we needed a community where she could maintain her independence, while still receiving the personal care she needed. We've found this at Cornerstone at Canton. Everything that we were told during our decision making process and information that was provided to us was spot on. From the personal care cueing and assistance, escorts to meals and activities, to the friendliness, caring and commitment of the staff. Any questions and concerns that I have had have been addressed immediately, excellent communication and the staff is very receptive to suggestions. She's currently on a respite stay and we can easily see this turning into a permanent solution for her care and needs in all aspects, physical, emotional and social. We're very happy with what we've seen so far. I would highly recommend this community to any family members who are looking for a place where your loved one can maintain an independent apartment, while at the same time knowing that they are safe, happy and healthy.

Cornerstone at Canton is a warm and welcoming residence for those in need of assisted living. Words cannot express how thankful we were for everything the staff did to help make move in day a success. They put together a little supper time gathering at the end of a very stressful day for the family in a private dining room. It was great. It's been almost two months now and we see Mary enjoying the activities and socializing more. Knowing she is safe and has friends to be with every day is so comforting.
