Our tour of HighGrove at Tates Creek was to be the first of a series of tours of senior living facilities in a search for a close friend needing to transition from living alone. If I hadn’t known it was a senior living facility I’d have thought we’d walked into a Five Star hotel or resort. We scratched our tours of other facilities after seeing Highgrove at Tates Creek because we were certain we’d just seen the best!

My mother moved to this facility in December 2022 it was a much better run facility at that time. (I had initially given them a 5 star rating.) They have since changed management, have had a high turnover of staff. They have not maintained adequate ratio of staff to adequately supervise patients to keep them safe. They struggle with basic supervision and hygiene. They do not provide the same level of memory care activities for patients. They do not communicate well with families. When I started questioning their honesty and could no longer trust them to take care of my mother, I moved her to another facility.

My Mother has been a resident in Memory Care for over a year. There are not enough words to express how grateful we are to Lisa Stamper for the love, care, and compassion she (and her staff) has shown to our Mother. This is not a 9-5, Monday-Friday job for Lisa as my sister and I have received text messages, long after working hours, and on weekends as well. She lets us know our Mother has had a great day, or there may be a concern she wanted us to know about. We have such peace of mind knowing Lisa truly cares about our Mother, and all of the residents.

So far we've had a wonderful experience getting my dad into Highgrove. Ashley, Brittany and Robin were all a great help and super available for questions and information. Dad really likes his new room and enjoys the activities and the food in the dining room. Really super place with a great staff.

I don't think we could have chosen a better facility or group of people to assist our parents then Highgrove. The staff has been fabulous. The Executive Director, Robin, went above and beyond to assist us with meeting the needs of our parents. The staff is always cheerful and willing to help in any way possible. I was able to enjoy several meals in the dinning room with my mother and can say that the food was excellent and service even better.

Lisa is the director of memory care. She is loving, caring and sincere when she says her residents become family. I am writing to highly recommend the facilities and people at Highgrove. I researched facilities in my current location in Louisiana and in Lexington where I will be relocating. Highgrove has exceeded all benchmarks starting with my introductory phone inquiries. I have had access to multiple staff members and I have always had my calls, texts, and emails answered promptly and accurately. I was promised things that were "too good to be true", and I can state unequivocally that all of the promises were kept. The initial tour was very well organized to allow the staff to get acquainted with me and my wife who has advanced Alzheimer's. My wife is happier, more social and active with a better appetite than at home. She is calm, comfortable, and well-groomed. The entire staff is continuously interacting with the residents in a caring and professional manner. If you or a loved one need independent, assisted, or memory care you should come to Highgrove and experience the personal connection that permeates the entire organization.

Highgrove is so warm and welcoming to absolutely everyone. We took our three children there recently to visit Santa and his reindeer. We stayed just to talk with residents and play some chess! It was wonderful to watch my kids be so sweet with the residents. I will definitely be back to visit. Such love!!

Highgrove is beautiful on a regular day but decorated for Christmas right now it looks absolutely stunning! On top of the upscale homey feel you get from the decor, you can really tell that the staff cares for the residents they serve. They take the time to be committed to excellence and constantly work on improving to get as close to perfect as possible. I would definitely recommend this building to anyone who wants/needs a little bit more help than they used to but wants to stay active in a community/social setting.

My mom has been a resident at HighGrove in the memory care suites for about 15 months. It’s not an easy decision to choose a place for someone you love but are unable to care for them yourself anymore. There are several reasons that have made Highgrove the best choice for my mom and me. The memory care program director, Lisa Stamper, does a fantastic job working with this group of people. Each resident seems to experience a unique manifestation of dementia and memory loss but they are all treated with respect for their individual personalities and needs. She gets to know them all and is involved with their care. Lisa and the staff do an amazing job creating special events and celebrating all of the holidays. Dementia patients may not express their appreciation but I think it does give them a feeling of still being a part of something. Moments in life can still be experienced. Most importantly to me, Lisa has always been accessible to me in person or by text. Her office door is open and she’s front and center to the heart of the space. Any issues that come up have been addressed quickly. She’s easy to talk to and I appreciate being able to ask for advice or reassurance. Regarding the physical aspects, the memory care suites are very comfortable. They have big windows with lots of natural light. The bathroom is large and modern with lots of accessories for accessibility. Most of the residents congregate in the main living/ dining area. They have a routine of activities and meals. I enjoy seeing them out in the main room. They can go in and out of the central courtyard on their own as long as it's not too hot or cold. And for residents who like to walk or wander, the corridor makes a giant loop so they will always end up back in the main room. It’s been a comfort knowing my mom is safe, in a good place and that Lisa and the staff are giving her the best care they can.

I have visited and volunteered at Highgrove throughout this year. Each visit has consistently proven how much the staff care about the residents. Staff and residents truly have a family bond. The caring environment is immediately obvious through all the laughter, smiles, dancing, and great conversations!!! And to support the home and family atmosphere, the decor is over top with cozy seating around a gorgeous fireplace; a movie room; garden, southern rockers on a beautiful porch; and a lovely dining room! I want to reserve my room now!!!!

I can't say enough good things about Lisa, and the ENTIRE staff, in the Memory Care Unit. They are ALL wonderful. Lisa, the team lead, is a truly loving person, which shows in how she relates with each person who is entrusted in her care. She knows their likes/dislikes, and what makes them truly happy. She is available to family members at any time to answer questions, and openly and honestly answers them. Truly a gem for Highgrove. Thanks for being who you are Lisa!

We are thrilled with Highgrove for our loved family member. Living in this upscale community is just the perfect place for someone who wants it all. She has her car and because of the awesome location she is able to get everywhere she needs to go without getting on a busy highway. The community is clean, the food is restaurant quality, and the activities are planned from request of the community members. This is a very nice facility and has a very professional staff. The Memory Care Director displays genuine compassion for all residents and their families. She is very composed and calm in an extremely active (sometimes hostile) environment. My mother in law Arlene Foster was a resident at Highgrove at Tates Creek for 4 years. Her first 2 years she was in assisted living. Her last 2 years was in the memory care. Words cannot express how grateful I am for the care she received in both areas. Everyone treated her with kindness and compassion. A special shout out to Lisa Stamper who Arlene Loved along with her staff. Lisa was able to engage with and keep Alene involved. During a very trying time ( COVID) Lisa and her staff were able to keep her and the residents safe and filled in for families when we weren't allowed to visit. ( Covid regulations,). They went above and beyond. We faced time and did window visits. They made sure family weren't completely cut off. Highgrove at Tates Creek was an absolutely WONDERFUL place for my Dad to live the last 2 years of his life. It was clean, bright and cheerful -- and had so many great activities, and Dad took part in many of them. The staff was friendly and courteous at all times. Dad LOVED the food. Dad got to know most of the residents and most of the staff, and loved them all. I don't have a bad word to say -- our experience was all good; and I would not hesitate to recommend Highgrove to any in need of assisted living.

I highly recommend Memory Care at Highgrove @ Tates Creek. My mom has been a resident in Memory Care since December 2019, so almost 3 yrs. From the moment I made the decision to place my mom in Highgrove's Memory Care, I haven't looked back. Trust me, I looked at several other Memory Care facilities in the Lexington area. It wasn't a decision I took lightly. In all honesty, the main reason that I decided Highgrove was the right place for my mom was the Memory Care director, Lisa Stamper & her staff! Lisa is a great communicator and loves her residents like they her own. She is always quick to let me know of any issues that my mom might be experiencing as well as sharing the positive of mom's daily living! I appreciate both. As far as her staff, they too are dedicated to the residents and providing love and care for each of them. I believe they all work together as a team under Lisa's leadership! As we all know, there's no perfect place but I'm so happy we are @ Highgrove at Tates Creek/Memory Care. It was the BEST decision for us! Thank you so much Lisa Stamper & Staff!!!

Many nice memories with my parents in assisted living section. Most everyone were caring and made their stay enjoyable. Had more concerns when parent later went to Memory Care Section. Staff turnover high and concerns of safety and inaccuracies. Recommend staff be paid more and received better management.

2020 has been filled with many trials and tribulations. Highgrove has been our true blessing in disguise. Abbye, Shay and the entire Highgrove family have gone out of their way to welcome my father and to help make his transition to Lexington as smooth as possible. We can't thank them enough for putting residents first and all that they do.

Fabulous staff, beautiful well appointed common areas and grounds, with outstanding amenities! Having moved many residents into both the main building and the Cottages, we have heard over and over how much our clients love their new home and are so happy with the decision to move to Highgrove. The Cottages are the perfect transition to senior living and still having all the comforts of home! I would highly recommend Highgrove at Tates Creek!

Moving my parents (89 & 91) to a senior facility was major decision! After comparing senior living facilities in Lexington, I felt that Highgrove was the nicest and best suited for my parents needs. The move was traumatic for my parents (as expected), but the staff at Highgrove have gone above and beyond my expectations. I receive frequent updates on their status, and I am amazed how aware the staff is of my parents involvement in daily activities and their mood. They love having people to talk to, and enjoy the dining room. Preparing food was difficult for my parents so they would drive to restaurants. Getting my parents off the road is a big relief to me!! My parents still miss home’ but Highgrove already feels like home to me.

Couple months ago looking for place for mom. She suffered a stroke at 89. Highgrove came out couple times to interview her to see if ok to live at their facility. She's a 1 person assist in showering and dressing, since stroke, but can transfer herself now to toilet, bed and dining room chair due to her continued therapy. They didn't want to take her in as felt she would need too much assistance. (This is Memory Care, not regular Assisted Living.) Where she is now, in memory assistance and has full time help if needed. Plus, residents go out WEEKLY on scenic drives, out to eat at diners couple times a month, out to ice cream socials, lemon aid socials, which is so good for them.... have planted gardens, and they take them out whenever needed to their own doctors appointments ( I will meet her at appointments) and also take mom to her own beauty shop, which she loves getting out. I don't think Highgrove ( they may, not sure) does any extras like these, especially getting out of building for scenic drives, ice cream outings, going out to eat and even picnics at Jacobson Park....watching nature and having lunch in fresh air, change of scenery in Memory Care Dept.. Always ask if Highgrove does these things EACH week. I had called and left couple messages for a return call to ask a few additional questions...not called back. . If your loved one needing assistance with several things or in wheelchair "not able to propel themselves", especially on carpet, Highgrove is not the place. It "cost money for them to hire extra aids" to assist elderly, an employee there mentioned to me. Mom propels herself now, just not as fast on carpet. Always, always, make list of questions to ask before committing to a residence. They need and want to be out and need to be social. So important daily and weekly for residents, their outlook on life. This place is new and fancy, but that's not what counts.

When looking for a place for my Mom, I came across Highgrove. What an amazing place. I know there are several choices out there and of course I wanted the best option for socialization and really just a place that she could maintain her dignity. The food is delicious, the courtyard is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the serenity. They have so many fun activities that Mom is never bored! The entire staff is totally amazing as well. I highly recommend!

We take a great interest in the organizations that work with our clients. As people start to empty nest and move into different stages of life they consider retirement communities. Highgrove is by far the best that we have seen. The sense of community and activity is obvious. From the great food to the happy hour it was easy to see that the people staying there had a sense of contentment and enjoyment. Upscale senior living at its best.
