My mother has lived at the Victorian at Riverside for 2.5 years. I’ve never left a Google review, but when I recently saw a scathing (and probably totally false review) I knew I had to step up. This home is wonderful! My mom never misses an activity (thanks Stefanie!). Mom is a retired university intellectual now living with moderate cognitive decline and she considers activities to be classes. She still talks about participating in their Opening Minds Through Art program over a year ago - amazing for someone with slipping memory. She likes the food and never misses a meal in their pretty dining room. She enjoys socializing in any of several living rooms and parlors. She walks in the nicely landscaped courtyard whenever the weather is nice. Her room is cleaned well, they’ve never messed up her laundry, the staff is respectful and cheerful, and importantly - they try to help each resident maintain as much independence as possible. William is super responsive to any concerns that may come up. I honestly feel my mom’s memory and physical status would be much worse somewhere else. She tells everyone she meets that this place is great. I agree. It’s actually enjoyable for me to visit. The neighborhood is charming, the parking is safe, and I feel welcomed by both residents and staff. In comparison, my dad was not in a very nice place for his last years of life with dementia and I dreaded going there for many reasons.

Mom was here for about a year and a half until she fell in the bathroom and fractured her pelvis. She loved all the girls working there and had high praise for Stephanie the activity director. The place is very clean and safe. Unfortunately she was unable to return after her fall and wound up needing nursing home level care.

My mother lives at the Victorian and she seems perfectly content there. I just wish we were closer in mileage, as it is a 4 hour round trip (driving time only) for me. But...it is a wonderful place!

My family is beyond happy with the care that our mom is receiving. We needed to make a somewhat quick decision over the Summer, to get mom into a secured care facility, and we found Victorian at Riverside. The employees are amazing! They have daily activities for the residents and all of the ladies seem happy and well-taken care of. I visit frequently and volunteer when I can, and I am always happy to see the residents out of their rooms, smiling and socializing with each other...exactly what we wanted for our mom. This place is a hidden gem and if you are looking for a trustworthy care facility for someone, you should consider Victorian at Riverside.

I have been volunteering with the VAR for several years now. It's always been an amazing home-like residence for our dear ladies, but I am so impressed with the new wing that will be opening later this spring. I definitely would put the VAR high on my list of personal-care options for my family members.

My mother was there and enjoyed the many activities provided allowing her to make friends and interact with the other residents (this was pre-Covid). She was given medicines along with loving care. Nutritious meals were prepared onsite and personally served to the residents in a very natural setting.

The staff have taken good care of my mom and we are thankful for that. We know she is safe and in a clean facility where she is well fed and is happy. Thanks for everything you all do every day. We know your jobs are not easy but the services you provide are more appreciated than you realize!

I can not say enough good things about the Covington Ladies Home. What a Blessing in our community. The care given to my Dear Friend was excellent, helpful in so many ways. The Director, Carrie Van Derzee is caring and compassionate as are the staff members. When I'm visiting the home, the residents are friendly to one another, share stories, have a lovely place to meet their visitors, have tea or just converse. Thank you!
