It was time for Mom to transition from living on her own to assisted living. She was isolated, lonely, and depressed, and her level of cognitive decline was outgrowing what hubby and I were able to do to keep her "independent". We were also gearing up for an out-of-state move (which would include her). We needed a place where she could be safe and comfortable while we prepared to move our household and hers. Sedgwick Plaza staff were extremely accommodating to us and our special circumstances, and Mom moved into one of their AL apartments. Being freed from meal prep, medication management, etc, we were then able to pack Mom's place unhindered, all while she got to enjoy the people, activities, and food at Sedgwick Plaza. She really loved her stay there, which was about 3 months. Bible studies, bingo, movies, field trips, and lots of fun and interesting residents to hang out with. The staff were all helpful, warm, and accommodating, and we are so grateful for how they made our move possible and for how happy Mom was during her stay there. She is fiercely independent and had always rejected the idea of living in a retirement community. (To her it meant "nursing home" and a loss of independence, no matter what we said to the contrary.) So it was amazing to see how the staff got her excited about moving in and how she took to it once there. She realized she had more independence and agency (and social opportunities) at Sedgwick Plaza than she did when she was on her own and counting on us for everything. In short, Sedgwick Plaza is a lively place. It's clean and smells good, the staff are helpful and kind, the residents are fun, and the activity calendar is full.

We recently moved my aunt into Sedgwick Plaza, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about this community. From day one, the staff has been incredibly welcoming, patient, and attentive, not just to my aunt, but to our entire family as we navigated this transition. The communication is excellent, and you can tell that every team member truly cares about the residents’ well-being and happiness. My aunt feels comfortable, safe, and cared for, which gives our family so much peace of mind. My mom has been here a little over 3 months. She has 1 major complaint and wants to move again already. She said the food is nasty and everyone agrees. And it takes an hour or more to get your food and it's always really cold. This is unacceptable! They recently took the only food she likes off the menu. She also has an issue with getting hot/warm water in her shower. She's finally realized if she takes a shower at noon time, instead of mornings, she can get warm water. Why is it taking so long to fix this food/staff problem? It would be worth the wait if the food was edible, but it's not. I'm very disappointed in this place and that she is going to have to move again! The people are very friendly and everything else is great.

My father lived in their independent one bedroom apartment and it was nice, clean and plenty of room for his things. This facility has VERY ACCOMMODATING staff. Each and every employee of Sedgwick Plaza is pleasant and willing to help with their residents, friends and families - assisted and independent from top down. There are reasons for waiting lists to get into great places such as this. Don't waste time, call, visit and get yourself into a pleasant experience you deserve. Kevin

My Grandpa lives here. I would recommend your loved one to live here for Independent or Assisted Living. The community is very friendly, caring, and accommodating. The staff go above and beyond for the residents. The food is great. The menu always has many options and the open dining hours helps with residents schedules. The housekeeping staff go the extra mile to make sure my grandpas apartment is clean, they keep the whole Community clean and presentable. I don’t have to worry if my grandpa is okay because the staff communicates with me. I would highly recommend this community for your loved one because this community cares, they are compassionate, and will treat your family member like family.

Grandparents have been here since 2018. In the last year, the dining experience has become unlivable. Daily arguments break out between the dining staff and residents on the EXTREMELY slow service. Don't expect to get your order taken for 20+ minutes, don't expect your food to come for at least half an hour, and don't expect to be offered a drink in the entire meal. It was once a lovely experience. The residents know this is completely unacceptable and no one will do anything about because they aren't held accountable.

We recently needed to find senior living for a family member. From the moment I set up the appointment to the moment we signed the paperwork, it has been a surprisingly doable experience. We had no idea what to expect and have been so impressed with the way we have been treated. I have been impressed with the attention given to my mother who lives in the assisted living wing. There has never been a problem with my mother related to her care or with the angels who provide assistance. In fact, mom has told me many times that her aides are kind and are willing to do just about anything that mom may request. I am very happy with the nursing care and the great communication we receive whenever mom has a medical or personal issue. Sedgwick Plaza has exceeded our expectations on all levels. This place rocks. We are pleased with the consistent and fun activities provided. We are also appreciative of the many opportunities that are communicated to help the elderly folks obtain all possible government benefits that are available.

I have been searching for an Independent Living Community for my 91 year old dad. After visiting several communities, I chose Sedgwick Plaza for several reasons, but Misty with the sales department was the #1. My dad is extremely reluctant to change, and this move is a traumatic, emotional process for him. Misty's description of the process and "climbing the mountain" one step at a time was priceless; her way of simplifying to future residents showed me she has empathy, love and understanding of our senior community. She is a positive influence to those around her. Additionally, I enjoy seeing the residents moving around outdoors and enjoying the fresh air; my dad will love that.

My wife and I have been looking for a place for her mother and father to move into. Every place we went to we felt like the sales director focused on making the sale. There was minimal focus on my wife's parents. Don't get me wrong, those facilities were nice but we felt like the focus should be on the resident, not the sale. We stopped at Sedgwick Plaza and met with Misty (director). We noticed right away that she cared. She asked questions about my wife's parents. She helped us understand the process and offered up useful information for the transition and the move. She didn't push a sale. After talking about our choices we decided on Sedgwick because of Misty. We knew that if the director cares that much about her parents then the level of care under the director would be the same.

Making that Decision Early We have never regretted our decision to move into a Retirement Community sooner rather than later in our life. Years ago an older friend said he was going to move, in his words, while he could still walk through the door and not go in, in a wheelchair. I liked his way of thinking. My wife and I were able to visit several communities as we began our search. We wanted to find the one that best suited us, after all we were and are still very independent and we wanted to stay that way. After visiting several communities and looking at the space of the apartments, it was easy to see that Sedgwick Plaza was the one for us. The rooms were large and the closet/storage space was better than any we looked at. We called Misty the Sales Director and she was elated. She helped us where we needed her too and helped to make the transition easier. After we decided what we wanted to take, we gave our children the choice of what was left. After they took what they wanted we had an auction and disposed of the rest. Whew Deep breath we were about to experience freedom from home maintenance. Since moving to Sedgwick Plaza a little more than four years ago, my wife and I have been very active members in our new home. We enjoy many of the in house activities and still continue our social life outside of the community. I myself am an avid cyclist and have the privilege of having the bike trial not far from Sedgwick Plaza. In our time here I have ridden 8,215 miles to be exact. My wife Pat volunteers on the new social committee group. This is a group made up of the residents here whom work closely with the Life Enrichment Coordinator to plan day trips, outings, and the social enrichment programs in our community. Pat and I both have severed, at one time or another as President of the Resident Council and Town Hall. We enjoy our independence and come and go as we please. However, we love the fact that if we ever need something there is staff available to assist. We like the idea that if we ever needed to give up our car, that Sedgwick Plaza offers transportation. Or if we needed medical care or assistance that Sedgwick Plaza offers that in another part of our community, so we will not have to leave the friends we have made here. If you are looking for a place where you don’t have to worry about the maintenance of the yard and house anymore, we encourage you to come visit our community. We definitely encourage you to consider the move sooner than later. We know we have enjoyed it! Merle and Pat Walker

My wife and I moved into The Sedgwick Plaza Independent Living about 2 years ago and have really enjoyed it. Before we moved in we were searching for an independent living type of an arrangement I contacted A Place for Mom referral organization for information and they sent me several listings to pick from that met my criteria. I contacted and visited some of them. Sedgwick Plaza was also on the list and I called and made an appointment for Misti Brake to come to our home. When Misti came for the appointment it didn’t take long for me to know that we were going to be moving to the Sedgwick Plaza. It was not that the Plaza had much more to offer but the way Misti presented it and sold herself and that built up the confidence and trust to the point that we knew Sedgwick Plaza was the place where we were moving to. When we moved my wife had Alzheimer’s for about 4 years and that was the reason for wanting a safer environment for her. She passed away a year ago but instead of me moving I decided to stay on. It was a decision that I have not regretted. The environment is more an all family affair and it is a very rewarding experience just to be here. Jerry B Baker

Absolutely horrible place. My grandpa was living here until I went to visit him and discovered the kitchen was infested with roaches and had been for months. And the facility hadn't taken any steps to get rid of the pest. My grandpa also informed me the nursing staff often ignored calls from the residents emergency pull cord system. That's the only way the residents can communicate with the nursing staff if their is a life threatening problem, and the nursing personnel ignore them. I am studying to be a nurse myself and this is just plain down right neglect on all ends of the spectrum. Shut this facility down. They are hazardous to the people they are there to help.
