I cannot say enough wonderful things about this community! When it came time to find the right place for my mom and Arvin, I knew this was the perfect choice. Having worked in home health, I had the opportunity to see firsthand the outstanding staff, the variety of activities, the bus rides, outings, and the convenient transportation available. All of these things truly set this community apart. The staff go above and beyond with genuine care, kindness, and professionalism, creating such a warm and welcoming environment. There is always something engaging for residents to enjoy, from daily activities to special events, and I love that they have opportunities to get out and explore while still feeling safe and supported. As a family, we feel such peace of mind knowing my mom and Arvin are living in a place that not only meets their needs but also enhances their quality of life. The environment of Thornton is truly like a home. The staff are respectful and always helpful. They partner with Interim Healthcare of Topeka to help people be able to stay until end of life in an independent living.

My mother and I visited Thornton Place and had a wonderful experience! Aaron, the Executive Director, was very attentive to my mother and answered all of our questions. We were able to have lunch, and had a tasty, well plated meal. The residents were welcoming, the facility appeared clean and the outdoor spaces were well maintained.

My experience at Thornton Place has been nothing short of exceptional. The staff is incredibly caring and attentive, making sure that every resident feels at home. The community itself is warm and welcoming, with plenty of activities to keep everyone engaged. I’m especially impressed with the meals”they're always delicious and well-prepared. The availability of home health services right on-site is a huge plus, offering peace of mind for both residents and their families. Thornton Place truly provides the perfect balance of independence and support. I couldn't recommend it more highly!

Since the new owners took over the place has gone down hill. When my mother-in-law moved in the place was full now it is half empty. The food is horriable, the cost has gone up for rent and now you have to pay to have the food delievered to your room if you choose not to eat in the commens. No one knows anything when you call to ask questions. Just sad And they do not have any fire or tornado drills at all. how do you expect anyone with a walker or scooter to get out especially if they live on the 3rd floor. Oh and yes bed bugs and they don't keep up with cleaning. It is a shame how these coorperations step in and all about money not about the care.

I recently toured the community looking for options for my father in law. The community was clean and in good condition. The staff was knowledgable and friendly. Definitely made us feel like it would be a great home for him. He is being a little resistant in giving up his home after all these years but when he is ready to make the move we will definitely be calling Thornton Place his new home.

I have been trying to navigate the waters of choosing the next level place for my dad. It can be a long and arduous journey, but i have been grateful for Rhonda's kindness and thoroughness. Unfortunately, at this time i don't think my dad can do independent living, but if he can, this place is beautiful, has a lot to offer the residence and Rhonda is a very in the top: kind, down to earth and great to help navigate these waters. I have been asking my mother to move to senior living for over 2 years. Rhonda went to see my mom in rehab while she was recuperating from a fall. She convinced my mother to tour Thornton Place. After meeting Rhonda and touring the facility, she made a quick decision that she wanted to live there. Although she is not fully moved in yet, she is extremely excited. I want to thank Rhonda for everything she did to show my mom that Thornton Place is not a old fashioned nursing home but rather a bright, loving senior living community. PS...the food is awesome. And so far every resident I have meet, have been very nice and welcoming with great comments about their living experience at Thornton Place.

My mother has lived at Thornton Place for three years, and I couldn’t ask for a more caring staff! Kim, the activities director, works tirelessly to give the residents entertainment and activities. Tabitha and Maria listen to any concern, and work to resolve whatever concern I’ve had. Even though it is an independent living facility, they offer in house home health aides, to assist with additional needs. My mother had a hard time leaving her home, but she’s made so many friends at Thornton Place, and they all look out after each other, and I feel good knowing she’s in a safe, comfortable environment!

My father lived there 1-1/2 years ago. The food was awful and inedible. On holidays such as 4th of July staff went off to party, locked the doors and gave residents a boxed lunch with 1/2 sandwich. The staff delivering the food was rude and condescending. The refrigerators were small. The residents were friendly and encouraging to one another. I would not recommend this place mostly because of the food.

You won't find a better staff PERIOD! Evertime I am in the building all I can think is WOW CAN I MOVE IN?? It's like living at a 5 star resort all year long. They allow me to bring Jen's Hens to visit and I always have so much fun!!

Three of my elder relatives have resided at Thornton Place. Found new friends and activities. The exercise classes 6 mornings a week is the fountain of youth. My Gma is 96, and she often leads the class!!!
