I've only been here 9 days and am still getting adjusted. I am on the Senior Independent Living side NOT the Assisted Living - so there are probably some differences, for example if somebody reminded me at 7am for Breakfast I would KILL them. I have an OPTION to go to breakfast between 7 and 9 am. I haven't made it once LOL. My alarm is set for 9am. but I nearly always get there in time for lunch (11am-1pm) and dinner (4pm-6pm) - both seem really early to me since when I lived alone I rarely ate but a snack for lunch and had dinner about 8 pm. But that is ok. I knew that sort of thing could happen when going to any care home, they can't provide all services always when you like. I'm still unpacking but when I walk around I am amazed by the number of activities going on - both formal and informal. For example on level 2 where I live - there are people putting together a puzzle- anybody can help. But on the first floor every room has something different going on every day. They also have a bus to take you to and from medical appts. it's not a perfect system but the system they've set up seems as good as it can be when serving so many people. I was referred here by my lawn guy who works at Atria during the weekday. I figured I couldn't afford it, but he thought I could. A few years ago, my father and stepmother lived here so I kind of knew the layout, but they were wealthy (but a bit of tightwads) My lawn guy was right - it was VERY affordable for me. Just with my Social Security Disability payments and my Disability Pension I can cover the rent and still have money left over. Once I officially retire - the amount of my Social Security and Pension will go up a little more. If I were to need assisted living or needed to move to a full-care nursing home, then I would have to tap into my savings (assisted living services have kind of "levels" of care and they are priced accordingly and to how many hours you use). In Independent living I get all my meals included, there are lots of activities to choose from, transportation to Dr's Visits. The food is generally really, really good - you have two entree options plus a desert and if you don't like those you can order something else from the grill, or perhaps fruit from the refrigerator etc. A dozen soft drinks and juices to choose from and some really good deserts for an "institution". I am VERY picky and have a food intolerance to poultry and I HATE fish that isn't fried. And Chicken is on the menu a LOT as you would expect and fish maybe once or twice a week. I did try the Fish and Chips and they were very good and not a bit "fishy tasting or smelly". I love their pasta dishes and their Tomato Basil soup was REALLY good. The fruit is VERY fresh, as are the vegetables. Their onion rings ROCK and the tater tots were nicely fried. You are waited on by a waitress - they just come to you and many already know your name. By my third day there, groups of women were inviting me to join them and while I'm too shy to just join a group I'm fine if I am asked to - I talked their legs off (but they let me come back LOL) they were also great sources of information) Right now they don't have a beautician (I think it was a COVID issue) but are looking for one. I have waist length hair and it hasn't been trimmed in at least 5 yrs so if they don't hire one soon, I'll have to get somebody to take me. I want highlights too. Actually, I want a spiral perm or dreadlocks or braids but most places I'm familiar with don't do that (I'm white and these are more traditional African American hairstyles and they all take a VERY long time and don't always work on "white people's hair" but most people I've talked to said the hairdresser can usually make it work) I have a pierced lip and one Tatoo plus I'm only 61 so I am a little on the young side for this place, and they don't play hard rock and grunge music but I love talking to older people especially because so many have lived such interesting lives. One lady I ate dinner with was 96!! I thought she was about 80. I'd guess the average age is late 70's to late 80's and mostly women but there are few men around (they usually hang out at a table or two together.) I'm sure this is too much detail, and I could point out a number of issues relevant to me - for example, the resident parking is very far to walk to. I have "End Stage COPD" which means I will be dying most likely in 7 yrs or so and have a very hard time walking sometimes, especially in the heat and cold and when it's a little uphill - depends on the day how hard it is, I use a small shopping cart rather than a walker because it's more lightweight and I don't have balance problems, I am not strong enough to carry my oxygen tank and purse AND walk. Plus, I'm only 61 so I haven't seen any other lip piercings or tattoos (mine matches the one my late husband had, and it is covered by my t-shirts). My 12 yr old cat was welcome and is getting use to the place. Her biggest issue is that she can't see much outside because we have a balcony rather than a deck - so sorry for her but it was what was available. She also was lost so I carried her around multiple times and pointed out her litterbox and food dishes so she could find everything, and she was far more relaxed after that. I think once all the boxes are unpacked I will have more time to play with her (I do take a few minutes throughout the day to give her attention). She has serious separation issues but hides from everybody but me - I adopted her at age 8 so I assume her owner either died or had a good reason for not keeping her so when she saw the movers taking everything away I think that really scared her as if she might be losing ME too- so make sure you help your pet during a move. Oh I also have a housekeeper once a week that will do 1 load of laundry and vacuum and clean. I have very few of my old responsibilities (like probably one other load of laundry a week) but I know I can now learn how to have fun again (PS: they have a bus that goes to different casinos a couple of times a month and I enjoy gambling once in a while but could never get anybody to go with me) So - that is sort of a summary of what I've experienced as a "newbie" - and everybody is so glad to help me I am in shock. And my Lawn man sees me nearly every day for a big hug. I came back from the vet with my cat and was so overheated and the walk was so far and extremely HOT that I set down in a chair in the front porch area to rest. He happened to see me and was very worried about how I looked (it was bad, and I was having a very hard time catching my breath) so he got a wheelchair and I got in it, and I pushed my walker while he pushed the entire "train" and got me to my apartment, I was so relieved and felt 100% better. So, the staff here NOTICE things about the people and actually do something about it when they see it. So don't rule out Atria just because it looks expensive, and you think you can't afford it. It was less expensive than all the other ones my daughter looked at (she was looking at prices for independent living and assisted living because I had just had a lengthy hospitalization for "overall weakness" - as in "nearly unconscious") Even the Assisted living, while in some cases is far more expensive, but they still are more reasonable than others she looked at. So far, I'm happy and impressed - just stressing about all the stuff left behind to sell at my old residence because the folks that are supposed to be doing it aren't doing it YET. Once that is over with, I'll sign up for some exercise classes and maybe even Bingo! I think I will be very happy hear - I can be alone when I want to be alone (you have your own kitchen if you want to cook something) and I can be with people when I want to be. This is VERY good for my mental health too which I was really afraid of. I am SO glad I am here.

My husband was there for a month to recuperate and we thought the place was very nice. Staff was friendly and so were the other residents. My husband really liked the food and the place was well maintained and clean. We will consider this for retirement living in the future.

Do not take your loved one here, it hires thieves for staffing their nursing aids. They do not take care of the people as they claim. My mother's health has deteriorated completely and I totally regret bringing her here after seeing the downturn in her physical and mental health, knowing that we placed her in this facility.

My mother-in-law was there and was treated well. Aging is hard on the family, the person and the caretakers! Nobody enjoys watching our loved ones age and decline to where they need care. Some days are better than others for all involved. My advice: Visit loved ones as often as you can so you get to know the staff and understand your loved ones status and see how much their caretakers love them.

My mother lives at Atria. For a long time I worried because she insisted on living in her home. She wasnt able to take care of herself. Now I know shes safe and has friends around her. She particularly enjoys her painting and crafts classes.

We really like Atria Hearthstone, and feel it is a good fit for my loved one. The staff are very knowledgeable, very helpful, very patient, and I think they offer a lot of options here. The food is good, and they have a good activities program. The food is good, and the community is very clean. Definitely Recommended.

A family member and I chose Atria for my friend after having toured another community and we fell in love with it. There are a few things about this community that really stood out to me. They have signs all over the building that tell the residents that if they don’t come to breakfast by a certain time, then someone on the staff will come to check up on them. And if they’re sick, then they bring the food to them. My friend likes the meals and there’s plenty of food to go around for everyone. She was concerned at first that they might be too small but they’re actually the perfect size. The staff is really nice and helpful, always willing to answer questions, and they even keep nurses on staff. Housekeeping is done well and everything is always clean and smelling nice. Atria also offers memory care, which is great because if she winds up needing that type of care, she wouldn’t have to be moved to a different facility and that makes things so much easier, not only on us but on her as well. They offer bingo, sometimes people will come sing for them, the facility takes the residents to doctor’s appointments as well as the store 3 times a week. There are also tables on each floor that the residents can gather at with other people on their floor to do puzzles and just talk so there’s a big sense of community. I’ve already recommended this place to my own family.

The helpful friendly staff are always on top of everything. I cannot express in words how much they have done to go out of their way to make my grandparents and all of the residents there have the best quality of life possible. My grandparents have lived at Atria for over 8 years when looking for a nursing home we considered many things and almost just did home health as we found that not possible, we found Atria a true diamond in the rough. I have had many relatives in nursing homes but not any at a facility quite like this. They have a chef, full kitchen, a lively dining room with lots of smiling faces, a happy hour, a hair salon, on site rehab and workouts with an instructor, activities and games that change every day, and as my grandmother is facing the end of her life right now and is dying.THE STAFF AND NURSING STAFF HAVE BEEN A GODSEND TAKING CARE OF HER. If I had to recommend or rate atria I would give it a 10 out of 10. The nurses and nurses assistants are always willing to go out of their way to explain wheat things are and what they do to help her. They have made her quality of life so much better over these last 8 years. They also put up with my rambunctious grandpa although he is in better health than her as of now I wouldn't ever see my grandparents moving somewhere else as they have visited friends in other facilities and are thankful for where they live. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR EVERYTHING YOU HAVE DONE FOR MY GRANDPARENTS AND MY FAMILY AS IT HAS NOT BEEN THE BEST OF SITUATIONS, YOU STAFF MEMBERS KNOW WHO YOU ARE. THANK YOU TO THE MANAGEMENT AS ALL OF YOU FAR EXCEED WHAT YOU ARE REQUIRED TO DO. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY WHOLE FAMILIES HEART!!!!!! YOU ARE ALL TOP NOTCH PEOPLE
