My wife and I have been here less than a year and have discovered this is where God wants us to be. Our every needs are taken care of and we have so many activities to keep us fit and busy. The Staff here is amazing and always there to help you. We are both 87 and are glad we made the decision to move here.

Fort Scott Presbyterian Village has been the very best place for us to age in place. We live in a comfortable apartment and go on with our lives, yet we are surrounded by friends among residents and staff. If we need assistance, as Jim often does, managing his Parkinson’s, kind and capable staff are immediately available to help with showers or loading him into the car or assisting him back into the apartment when we return from the hospital. Good meals arrive daily, things we have chosen ourselves from menu options. Marla Heckman, ED, sees that the building and programs run in good order, and DON Ellen Fairchild and her staff make sure new employees are well-trained and diligent. I am particularly grateful with the patience and respect for Jim’s comfort and dignity they ALL show him day in and day out. We are so glad we made the move!

The staff at the manor in Fort Scott are amazing! When I originally moved my mother in, she was highly anxious and simply wanted to just live at home. There were reasons that wasn’t feasible anymore, especially at that moment. Here we are, many years later, her original temporary stay has become permanent and she truly loves it. She can choose to set in her room to do her own thing, or she can take part in the many wonderful activities that are planned for them. For me, it is a blessing to know that she has such caring people taking care of her watching over her and that she is not alone. I would recommend this facility to anyone in need that has the means to do so.

As a pastor who volunteers and visits various facilities in the area, I have always loved Presbyterian Village. They appreciate their volunteers, the residents always seem happy and well cared for, and there's always something for them to do. The assistance I've seen staff provide their residents has always been with care and respect for the individual. I'm grateful for each employee there and the care they provide for the residents.

I enter their Art is Ageless contestbevery year. It is a good activity for older people. They include people not living there. I have been to several events they have. Everyone who lives there us very happy anytime I have been there. I did take a tour of the apartments once they are very nice. All the staff that works there are very good to the residents. They plan outside activities for the residents to go too.

The Presbyterian Village has been a facility that has been in Fort Scott and many have called their home for a long time. The facility is very clean and inviting. The new executive director is very experienced and has had many years in caring and providing for elderly. She is definitely an advocate for them and is passionate about her residents. The Village has been a vital part of the Fort Scott community for many years now. It is clean, friendly and the residents are kind, loving people. I cannot personally speak on the day to day life of the residents here, but I know that if you choose to place a loved one here they will be treated as family. Full disclosure, the new executive director, Marla Heckman, is my relative but believe me when I say that she is one of the best in the game. She leads by example, has the warmest heart of anyone I know, and is fiercely dedicated to her profession and the community she serves. She will advocate for your family just as you would advocate for them. If you want to place your loved one somewhere they will be treated well, loved, and cherished just as you cherish them, Fort Scott Presbyterian Village is the best choice for you.
