Short Answer: Do not bring your loved one here Long Answer: One year ago I made the worst decision of my life. I decided to bring my dad to Bickford of Greenwood. I had promises that they could care for his medical needs and worsening mobility. I was told they had a doctor care team on call and this would help to eliminate the need to constant runs to the doctor. I was told the staff could handle his ostomy and constant needs with that. Not true! 1. One day prior to my dad moving to Bickford I had taken him to the doctor for a suspected UTI. That was confirmed and my doctor called Bickford with the results and Bickford was going to order medication. I confirmed with the DON in person. When I checked up on that a few days later she had no idea what I was talking about. But then later found her notes on a random post it note, which I saw on her desk. After several follow up phone calls he finally got his medication. 2. My dad moved in on 10/15 and they did not give him a shower until the 8th day, after I said something for a 2nd time. I first mentioned it at our move in meeting and asked about when and how often he would get a shower. He did not get one until he had been there over a week. 3. On over a dozen times (it is probably triple this number) witnessed by me or the camera we finally had installed in his room, my dad had to wait over 30 minutes for help after falling or pushing the call button. I was told by the director that 7 minutes was the most we would ever have to wait. I had several meetings with staff about the long wait times. Staff insisted they are under staffed and admin always said they were not. I was also told by staff that they were not giving working pagers. At one point they took off my dads call for help lanyard and laid it on his TV stand, which was out of his reach. After checking cameras we noticed it had been there for 2 days. When addressing the staff we were always told we don't know how that happened, or he must have taken if off. That was his only way to call for help since he was not able to walk. 4. On 12/20 staff and I had concerns that he had another UTI. (These were extremely dangerous for him because he only had one kidney and he had been hospitalized numerous times with them) Since they have on call doctors I was told a urinalysis would be ordered and meds given if needed. I spoke directly with the DON and staff on 2 occasions. On 12/27 a nurse emailed me (yes email not a phone call) and said they never did get a urinalysis so they never administered meds and they felt I needed to come get him and take him to the ER immediately. I was told this was because it was near the holidays so sometimes we don't get nurses and doctors here when needed. He was in the hospital for over a week. All would have been prevented had they treated the suspected UTI immediately. 5. When released from the hospital he was transported directly to Bickford. They were given his release paperwork and medication list. We used Bickford's pharmacy so Bickford would give all new medications. I received a call from the DON at Bickford that they "forgot" to give him his medication and there was an issue with paperwork and the pharmacy. She apologized profusely but he went without medications for 7 days before anyone noticed and anyone called me. (FYI: the director quit soon after this incident, coincidence maybe?) I filed a report with the state for this. 6. One day at dinner the staff wheeled my dad down to the dining room with a blanket over his legs. I joined him for dinner that night. His blanket slipped down and it was revealed that he had no pants on, no underwear on and was totally naked from the waist down under his blanket. The fact that two staff members felt that it was okay to not protect his dignity in front of others may have been the saddest part of his whole time there. I approached staff immediately and was told it was hard to put pants on him because he has a catheter. After 6 months of the nightmare of being at Bickford, we moved my dad to an amazing facility. We had zero issues there and we were shown that having a place that has amazing staff and care is possible. Bickford is not this place. I was warned by the DON at my dads previous assisted living (which we had to leave because they were honest and said they couldn't handle his medical needs) that we should NOT go to Bickford. But [name removed] at Bickford convinced us that things would be fine and they had gone though some big changes. [name removed] is a lovely person but she is selling you lies. [name removed] the DON is not capable of doing her job correctly and should not be allowed to be in this role. She also told us they could handle my dads medical needs. They could NOT. Please take my review as the warning that you should listen to. Keep looking, there are good places out there. I will regret choosing Bickford forever. It is filled with awful memories. It took me a year to even be able to write this review because being at Bickford was traumatizing for my entire family. I would give them zero stars but I gave them 1 because some of the staff there was very kind and tried. They are just in a no win situation.

The Bickford of Greenwood is a beautiful property with a very convenient and desirable location. The staff is friendly and caring. The leadership team works well together and wants the best for the residents. Residents seem very happy and there is always something going on!

Bickford of Greenwood is such a beautiful facility. I had the pleasure of touring with Katelyn, and she was very thorough! I was impressed with the setup of the memory care unit and the beauty shop. The dining area is very inviting and bistro-like. In a nutshell, Bickford has the perfect ambience and is aesthetically pleasing!

When my mother needed Memory Care, there was only one place I considered- Bickford of Greenwood. My mother in law has been receiving care at Bickford's Mary B's memory care for three years, and we have been very impressed with the caring staff, the beautiful decor, the cleanliness of the unit, and their transparency with our ability to visit unannounced. I feel very fortunate that Bickford of Greenwood exists in our mothers' community. I hope to live there myself in about 30 years LOL.

Julie, Katelyn, Rhea & the rest of the staff at Bickford of Greenwood made moving our mother into there community easier than we ever dreamed it would be. They paid attention to every detail, were very accommodating and gave us the personal attention that a family needs during this trying time. There treatment of our Mom & our family has been wonderful! We were told at the beginning of this process that the people at a facility were what was important not the facility itself as they will be taking care of our Mom. We found this with Julie & her staff at Bickford of Greenwood!

we recently had the pleasure of taking a tour of the community with Katelyn and were super impressed. The space and decor is very inviting - very warm and homey feeling. The stonework that is used through out the building adds a special touch. The brickwork and theme of the salon make it feel as though you entered different building. Walking down the hallway feels almost like walking down the sidewalk in a small town. We especially liked the music wall segment near the salon. The courtyards add a special touch and a way to enjoy the sunshine.

I recently volunteered at bickford for the first time playing music and singing with a group of residents! The facility was so very beautiful when i walked in and the residents were very eceptive to join in and the staff were encouraging and joined the residents. It was like a happy family all joining together! I was so happy to be a part of that and look forward to returning!

I enjoy visiting my patients that's on our hospice service with AccentCare. Every time that I visit the facility, I've had met some many elderly people that always in an enjoyably and friendly mood. It's always something going on there for the residents and the staff members make sure they are very well taken care of in every situation in need from the nurses, aides, cooks maintenance, housekeepers and most of all the residents family members that comes in to visit their loved ones. —

After reaching out and touring several facilities, I am beyond grateful that I came across Bickford of Greenwood. This is a beautiful establishment with experienced and kind staff members. Working with their Family Advocate Katelyn made the process stress free and she was a resource to our family the entire time. I couldn't have asked for anything better for our loved one!

This community feels so much like home. The caregivers that work there are always smiling and are very approachable. The residents are always engaged in activities and they go on outings so they are able to get out of the community. I would recommend this community to anyone looking for senior care.

Although I alerted staff of my mother's UTI, the UTI was left untreated for four days (with no monitoring by staff). As a result, her mental status rapidly declined and she ultimately required a trip to the emergency room and remained hospitalized for eight days. Despite alerting three nurses of her condition, no one heeded my request to start a prophylactic antibiotic. They are short staffed, and the aides are so busy taking food orders, serving and cleaning up, that they don't have time to notice changes in resident's conditions. In addition to this, when my mother fell last April, they did not request an X-ray because her leg "didn't look swollen or red." They left her reclined in her chair. However, when I arrived to visit her the next day, she couldn't put weight on the leg. They told me to take her by car to Ortho-Indy for an X-ray. Ortho Indy determined that she had a comminuted fracture of the left tibia that required surgery. In addition to the tibia break, she had also suffered cervical fractures! Let's just say that after these two strikes, we moved her out. The facility may look nicely decorated, but looks can be deceiving.

I pick up at this facility and from the moment I walked in I couldn't believe how beautiful the entire place was! People that worked there are very friendly and my cnas that worked on my unit were very hard working and pleasant. I have worked in both the memory care and assisted living as a QMA. The residents also have pets, midnight is a very social and friendly dog that loves to walk the halls with me. I am also an animal lover and feel it really helps most residents feel at home.

The facility is very clean and cozy. Structurally it is a very nice place but why I give it five stars is the people. They are highly attentive and go above and beyond in care for my mother in law. The employees during COVID would sit In her room and have tea . Not a job requirement but shows the caring behind the facility. I could tell dozens of other times they make it feel like a home for my mother in law.

My Mom was a Resident at Bickford for nearly 2 1/2 years. I cant say enough good things about Bickford. My mom was not always the easiest to get along with but they did win her heart and they truly helped her have a purposeful and more joyful life to the best of her ability. There were staff changes throughout her time there but there was never a lack in her care. They are all truly special people and can take great care of your loved ones. I miss their smiling faces. Special thanks to Briana who treated her like family and Kim for her upbeat personality. All the nurses were great!

I walked into this property for an interview. The building is finominal, and welcoming. I walked into the front doors greeted by warm smiling faces, Around residents in the middle of a band performance. I was immediately asked if I wanted something to drink or to join them and watch the performance. My wait was not.long at all. The environment for dining was a real treat to see.. the fact that they make the experience for every meal like a real dining restaurant with a menu and fancy cups. Every person of employment greeted me with a hello or smile. And most off all when you walk in you don't get the heavy smells of fragrances like other company properties. I don't feel as tho it was a forced welcome. The staff, residents and family members were genuinely happy.. I don't have family here. Just wanted to share my experience from a walk in perspective.

The best place! If you are looking for somewhere for your family member or yourself Bickford is the place to go. Rhiannon and the director of activities were the most friendliest and helpful ladies. We came there feeling helpless about what to do about my father and left feeling hopeful and so very thankful. I cannot express how wonderful these people were to us!! And all of the residents there seemed so happy!!
