Bell Trace isn't what it used to be. Ever since COVID-19 it seems the level of care has really diminished. Apparently it's easier for management to blame staffing levels for everything than it is to address core issues. It is probably time for upper management to take a closer look at what level of care they can safely provide versus what they promise. Communication between managers is terrible in terms of follow up because no one writes anything down then things go undone, incomplete or wrong after numerous conversations. CarDon and Associates should take a hard look at this facility and how it's managed.

My 87-year-old father has lived at Bell Trace for three years. Before signing the contract, we were invited to a meal in the dining room, where we were presented with a seven-page menu. Among the items available were hot entrees such as salmon, ham steak, chicken, and pasta with a protein option. There were several large dinner salads (with protein), as well as a selection of sandwiches. Each day there were two chef's specials. The menu was robust and offered a nutritious variety of food. Now, two years into the pandemic, the menu is down to one sheet. Hot entrees are limited to either a hamburger or a hot dog; there are four cold sandwich entrees. There is one chef's special. This is for both lunch and dinner every day of the week. For adults. As my dad says, this is like an elementary school lunch. Residents are required to spend $350 each month in the dining room or lose that money. They are also facing a rent increase while they are being asked to eat substandard meals. The past two years have been difficult for everyone, but to make money on the backs of our oldest citizens is shameful. Their nutrition and well-being should be of the highest priority. Bell Trace can and should do better.

After being at a prior facility and then touring BT, we found that staff, management and residents so very kind, friendly and accommodating.I really like how they take care of our parents and that they truly care about each and everyone in the facility.Staff is amazing! When we unable to see our parents during the height of Covid, staff made sure we could communicate, even if it was through a window on cell phones.I highly recommend Bell Trace!!

My mother stayed at little bell for rehab after a surgery. The therapists were very good to her and helped get her to where she needed to be to go home. The residents who lived there always seemed happy. Seems like a great place to live.

Bell Trace is a wonderful place! I received the best care there during my rehab stay. The therapists were knowledgeable and the nursing staff was great! Food in rehab was like hospital food, but I understand its because people have different diets. I would highly recommend Bell Trace to anyone.

As a former employee of Bell Trace I can honestly say it is the greatest place I have worked at thus far. The management is wonderful and the Executive Director, Joy, is always a delight to see. The coworkers are awesome and i had the opportunity to interact with lots of Aides and nurses and all of them were so bubbly and caring. The residents are so wonderful. They really care about the staff at Bell Trace. Bell Trace will always be a great experience in my employment career. I will miss not only the residents but the wonderful staff and their ability to make you feel like you belong and that you are waned in the workplace.5 stars

My mother is 96 and has lived at Bell Trace in their Independent Living Apartments for 3 years. It has been a wonderful experience for all of us. Transitioning from her home in Northern Indiana to a new city and smaller residence was a big change for her. But when my father died after 70 years of marriage, it was important to mom to be closer to children.. Bell Trace has opened up so many new opportunities for mom. She attends many performances at the IU Auditorium and enjoys being chauffeured right to the entrance. She is taken on weekly shopping trips with other residents to the grocery store and to the doctor as needed. She looks forward to her creative writing group and social hour. Bell Trace provides a beautiful home for mom. The staff is friendly and goes above and beyond to keep their residents happy and safe. The Chef cooks outstanding, fresh meals with lots of new choices daily and the baked from scratch breads are a huge hit. Thank you Bell Trace! I would highly recommend this to any senior looking for a wonderful community in Bloomington or to any child looking for a home for their parents

Staff and facility are A+. As with all retirement - assured living - nursing homes, family involvement is Key. There does come a time when private duty to supplement between the cracks of the day certainly is a big help and Bell Trace is very individualized and flexible to give the best care possible. After my husbands dad passed on I still see nursing staff around town stop and tell me what a wonder man he was and how they enjoyed him as a resident and patient. I have recommended Bell Trace to several elder care needing friends and all who have move to Bell Trace have been pleased with the move. My best bragging point is with some conditions improvement allows for movement balanced by progressing of the disease or aging in general. It was so nice for Bob to have his end years moving back and forth in one location rather than many. He always asked for the window so he could hear the train, right on schedule!
