Volunteer I was a volunteer at Independence Village of Avon, Indiana in December 2024. Staff members cheerfully included residents to attend entertainment. The residents appeared happy and well cared for. The building was clean and cheerful.

My mother lives here. The staff service has improved notably in recent months since new Executive Director Romeo began. She just helped solve a challenging issue using creativity and diplomacy. Wanted to share thanks publicly.

Welcome home! That's what it feels like when you walk into this community. The warm, inviting nature of the residents and staff is not only obvious, it's something you "feel" when you visit. It's something you need to witness to know. It is worth your time to check it out.

I have a friend that lives in this facility and I visit her often. The food is good, the place is clean, nursing is knowledgeable, receptionist is helpful, and it is well maintained. It feels very inviting and most of the staff seems happy and eager to help. That being said, the new director has made residents cry and is bringing everyone down. From a week of her being there, you can feel a change and it is not good. My friend has told me that she and other people there are looking into other places now. She has lived here for years and has seen it at it lowest and grow into a beautiful family. Now it has changed drastically and she doesn't even want to come out of her room. Fix this issue and get the family atmosphere back please! It's hard to find a caring place and now it's just another facility like the rest. Hire a director that actually cares and isn't just a bully that talks over you instead of actually listening.

My mother, Shirley Price, is a resident at this facility and she has had such a great time participating in the different activities that the activities director has created this year. It has been a wonderful and engaging experience for her and the other residents because they are allowing them to express their own creativity, have fun with other residents, and give them something to look forward to every day. I’ve enjoyed hearing the stories my mom tells me about her day when she had participated in an activity and how much fun she has had. Thank you to the activities director, staff members, and Independence Village for giving your residents enjoyable activities that make them feel included and proud. - James Price Sr.

My siblings and I had to immediately move my parents out of another facility in Indiana because they gave my mom the wrong meds and nearly killed her. We contacted several facilities and met with reps from each one of them. Though in the end my parents moved into a Catholic home (due to location and other personal factors), Independence Village was by far a better facility than the others we worked with. I would highly recommend looking at this place if you are considering an assisted living facility for a loved one. Ruth, a Community Specialist at the facility, is also incredible to work with. She has alot of experience in the industry, and is overall a kind and caring person. She made herself available to us throughout the process, whether we chose the facility or not. It was her expertise and guidance that helped us understand the industry. The facility itself is also lovely and seems to have many activities for its' residents, including weekly rosary and communion for Catholics! While COVID had a negative impact on other facilities in the area, Independence Village seemed to weather the storm, so to speak, and continues to thrive. Though we chose a Catholic Home in the end, we would not have hesitated moving my parents into Independence Village had it not worked out.

My Grandma lived in the memory care unit from March 2021 until she passed in September 2021. The staff in that unit was so caring and always remembered me despite me being gone at college for months at a time and chopping all my hair off. They talked with my Grandma even though she couldn't talk back, and a staff members (especially Heather and Katie) truly made friends with her, cared about her and made a terrible situation just a bit better for everyone.

In mid November I was notified that my mother was being kicked out of her subacute rehab center by her insurance company due to lack of progress. We started looking around for assisted living facilities and were able to tour this property with Ruth Ritter. Ruth was super helpful in helping us to understand the whole process and made herself available nights and weekends in order to get everything taken care of on such a short turn around. We moved my mother in the beginning of December and she absolutely loves it. She has made several new friends and enjoys the activities and being around other people. The staff clearly care deeply about caring for the residents.

I'm helping my mother as she considers moving into assisted living accomodations. I recently toured Independence Village of Avon with Ruth Ritter. First, Ruth has been amazing to work with. She's always made herself available at times which are most convenient for my mother and I. She truly understands the emotional, financial, and logistical challenges someone is faced with as they consider moving. As for Independence Village itself. It's a beautiful facility that is tastefully decorated and very well maintained. The rooms are very nice and high quality. They have a wide variety of activities and are very focused on maintaining a very inclusive, community feel. Additionally, it's located very near all the amenities one might need, but it's nestled amongst trees and greenery to create a peaceful environment.

I cant say enough about Independence Village of Avon and the parent company CommonSail Investment Group. It is great to work for a company and with a team that puts the needs of the residents first. The atmosphere is welcoming, fun, and there is always something going on. The staff is very involved with the residents, the food is delicious and the activities are on point.

Also on the top of my list. Comfortable, nice sized apartments. Assisted living options are very inclusive, depending on the level of assistance required. Setting is peaceful, activities are abundant. Nice place!. Also on the top of my list.

My loved one has lived here for almost two years. The first 6 months the nursing staff were attentive, the attitudes good enough, the food good. The assistant D.O.Nursing was the most helpful. She left for reasons unknown to us. Several others left as well. That almost was a year ago. They havent been able to keep a Director of Nursing. The CNA staff has changed many times but for a handful. The CNA work ethic has tanked as half of the CNAs hired now are from foreign cultures. The nurses, overall, are above average and helpful, except most seem to leave to patient transfers to the aides. Medication records are still kept in written form and dispensed from this antiquated system. Problems are sometimes resolved when administration is made aware. Housekeeping is good. Maintenance does not follow up on requests well.

Overall we are pleased. Nothing is like being home but after getting settled things are getting familiar. Not happy with the staff transition and turnover of employees but sadly that is everywhere in senior care. Need trash taken from rooms once a day and it has been every 3-4 days. Senior depends have not been distributed like we were told would be. Urine and feces are a major problem with residents and seeing them get up with wet pants from a chair should be more supervised by employees and made to clean up and change. Its a job no one wants and I commend employees for doing so.

Wife works here, as a c.n.a. and she has worked at several other nursing homes or assisted living homes, and she is completely different here! She always loves her residents, but here she loves the staff, and shes excited to go to work every day, because they really are a team! As we all know, team work makes the dream work! I think if the staff is happy, they'll be more likely to go the extra mile to keep everyone else happy. Very very clean inside and out as well!
