I moved in Gateway At Rivercity Summer 2025. There are activities regularly keeping us active and happy. Summer 2026 has been Fantastic, my life has improved and Gateway keeps up with consistent quality living conditions, I like an immaculate apartment and they do everything to support my actions to keep it that way, I have regular need for health care and daily living support which is accommodated fully and follows a good protocol of redundance, I rarely have need to call for help but when I have (using the call button) it was met with prompt attention. I have days life gets overwhelming and I need to just crash, My apartment rescues me everytime and stays ready for my needs. This place as all places are not perfect, a design flaw is apparent for as it is built in the floor plan...during winter on unusually colder days in/out traffic (cigarette smokers) stays consistent enough the first floor gets chilly. Also the patio door connected to the dining hall directly across from the front door sometimes drafts when they are both opened simultaneously causing a pretty chilly dining experience on the coldest days. (We can bring our own containers and take our food "to go", dining in our own rooms) The patio door sometimes gets used during the worst blizzardly days as a few destitute residents who want to smoke cigarettes while dining in between bites using the patio entrance/exit (Ive seen a person's fresh steaming hot meal get blasted with fresh blowing snow)...uhhg... whattya do ...Still though Freakin Fantastic place Five stars of excellence just bring good warm clothes for to grab a meal to go on those wintery days that are best to stay in and hibernate.

It is a very nice place to live. The people that live there are so nice and welcoming; the staff are the same way and they are very helpful; there is always plenty of things to do that they offer as well; would be nice to have things to do for the people who are out and up past 6pm. The food is delicious and there is a decent variety with alternatives. Would be nice if we could get more than 2 drinks so that we could fill a cup to have something to drink till next meal. Only other thing is that the amount they get to live on is not enough to live on. Especially when they get money from state for each person as well. Other than that; not much that I can say needs work! It is a very wonderful place to live if you are needing assisted living and are under 64!

I will have lived at Gateway At River City 10 years, on December 19th. I have cleared past reviews, and am putting a new fresh, honest one. As a person who has seen and experienced all of the many growth, and growing pains Gateway has gone through. I can honestly say, we are at the best we have ever been. It is because of some absolutely amazing past staff and their values. And the staff that we have now. They care about us, and our needs. Not only that, we have a couple of family members that are a part of the whole community. The drama that we once had, is no longer an issue. There isn’t anywhere that 105 people are going to be in the same mood, at the same time. We are as close to peaceful as possible. We laugh with each other. We have shared many tears together. We truly are family!!

Gateway at River City is not just a facility. It is a real community of amazing people with disabilities and staff who really care about them. My son was born with spina bifida and has used a wheelchair since he was a small child. His disabilities make living on his own a challenge, but Gateway provides the right amount of support to enable him to have his own apartment and an independent life. When he had a serious surgery with a long recovery period, the staff stayed in touch with him, providing a lifeline when he needed it most. Wanting to get home to Gateway motivated him to recover and made all of us in his family realize just how important it is to his life. The day he returned to his apartment at Gateway was one of the happiest days of his life! There are very few places like Gateway and I wish there were more. We are grateful for the life he can live there and the wonderful people who have made it possible.

My experience with living here at gateway has become an experience for me ihave my own apartment do everything for my self and chores at home by my self i don’t need any cnas to help me except if something happens to me i have had an accident in December 2023 when i fell out out of the wheelchair now i walk all by myself and can run walk all by myself for over a year so this place helps you with therapy to help you to be able to be in good health and physical shape it is a nice place to be and live

It was great to find a place such as this. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful in getting my brother accepted and placed here. If I have any complaints at all, it's that since he's moved in, it's been extremely hard to contact anyone or get called back. Also, the finance arrangements need to be communicated better between ALL parties. The confusion and number of people involved was almost a disaster. Other than that, it's a fantastic place. Clean, wonderful services, great meals, lots of great activities available. Tammie and Kelsey are amazing!!

Gateway at River City! I have been living here since April 3, 2025. Ever since I moved here it has been nothing short of exciting! The people, both residents and staff, are all very helpful and attentive to your needs. It is like an all-inclusive resort only the vacation never ends. Well, it's not a vacation living here. Let's face it, life is life, but if you need a hand getting by with different things, in my opinion, you can't go wrong at least giving Gateway at River City a try. You pay your rent each month and that's pretty much it. You get three meals a day. Public Transportation is right outside the front door. The Activity Director is Top Notch! There are activities planned for everyday of the year. You can feel free to participate in any or all of them or you can do whatever you want to do. Restrictions? Yes! But where aren't there any restrictions? The Activity Director also plans outings to get us out of here once in a while. We go out to lunch at various restaurants in the area. We go to Peoria Chiefs baseball games. We go fishing. We do lots of different things. 'Different' is the key word here. Something for everyone. If you don't want to go that is fine as well. Gateway at River City isn't here to dictate your life, they are only here to help! Oh my gosh, where was I? Oh yes, a primary care doctor is here every Wednesday. There is Physical Therapy on site. The activity director is top notch! Did I say that already? The Activity Director is Top Notch! She is like the concierge on a Cruise Ship or a Resort! In other words, she is good at her job! Your day is packed with activities to keep you busy or you could spend your day doing what you want to do. There are very few restrictions. But all in all you can do what you want. It's like living in any other apartment complex only here you get the assistance you need. I need assistance with my medication. There are nurses on duty 24/7 to assist me with my medication and they assist with many other things too. Yes, it's a place to live with the added perk of getting the assistance you need. So, stop in and find out if what you need is what Gateway at River City provides! There are a few rules you need to abide by. This is life baby! There are rules in life that we all need to abide by. Gateway at River City is no different. It's a great place to live. If you want to live on your own but need assistance with certain things, you should check it out. Call and book an appointment. There is no obligation. Just an opportunity to see how good life could be for you! This is not an ad. I am a resident! There is so much more! Wow! I apologize! This is so 'all over the place'. Repeated information. I have Attention Deficit Disorder which makes me...different! We are all different. That's the way God made us! He didn't make us all the same because he wanted diversity in the way things are here in the place we live, earth! Have a great day, people! Thanks for taking the time to read this! Activities is great!!! Kelsey does lots of actictivites. We get to go out to the Otanical gardens, the bowling alley, movies, walks on the Riverfront and more!°° also our activities assistant is the bomb!!! She teaches us how to cook, does crafts with us, is always a good listener. She works very hard on spa day to get as many people taken care of as possible. One resident has very long hair and is paralizied on one side. She has trouble getting help to wash and braid her hair. But it gets done on spa day. The room is always full with people waiting there turn. We have a few great aides. Latima will do absolutely anything you ask of her. Anything!! She has even stayed past her shift to complete a task so she knows it gets done. Also T is very good. She can always make you smile. And our new aide Malika, wow!!!! She is the only one that will help me with my laundry.despite the fact that I have a shoulder injury and my doctor told me not to do laundry, the other aides refuse to help. Even though I have been asking for months. We unfortunately have aides that don't care anything about the residents. They won't speak to you, answer your lites or give you help in any way. Whe when you call the building numer all you get is a rreording they are only here for the paycheck.

gateway@river city is just over 1year old,i've been here since june of 2017 and the facility is new,clean and well kept.most of the staff does a very good job and cares about the residents,but there has been a problem with getting and keeping management positions filled.also getting and keeping"dietary"staff has been a problem and food quality and quanity has been inconsistant ,and with staff turnover service suffers (please excuse spelling mistakes)update 8/26/2018 still problems with management staff turnover -the latest administrator only stayed 6 months and she did very little to make thing better and easier for residents while making things easier for staff,at the same time making "RULE"changes unilaterally without regard to the lease(a signed contract) or state ,federal,local laws and rules,including one new rule that I think is a violation of the ADA .now we will have a temp.admin. till we get the fifth admin. in 15 months since i've been here,that makes a total of NINE different admin.s.maybe this time it'll be different.yeah right,when cows fly.ta ta and good luck?today's date is December 14,2018-update to my last review and the new/current administration (Jami)is much better than previous ones,dietary continues to improve and other improvements have been made ,I would now(and have)changed my rating to 4 of 5 stars,there's still room for improvement but everything and everyone seems to be working together well.Good jobs everyone.goodnight and have a pleasant tomorrow.
