We were very pleased to place mom here. It was time she had 24 hour supervised Care. It was especially enticing as mom is deaf and there were available persons to interpret for her communication needs. And the setting is so comfortable.

This place has left a very good impression upon me. I have been looking for a place that I would be comfortable for my mother to stay, since I am unable to tend to her needs. I was very impressed here. The staff was kind and warm not only to us but also to the current residents. Janis was exceptionally helpful and my mother took to her right away. Joes Place was very clean and inviting. I feel that my mother will approve.

Clean facility, friendly staff responsive to resident needs. Snacks and water offered throughout the day. Residents are dressed and walked to main common area. Planned activities. Positive atmosphere. Staff demonstrates they care about the residents. Our family is grateful for this dedicated staff.

My mother recently passed away. She was my fathers primary caregiver. My father has Alzheimers disease. My mother felt his care was her responsibility and refused help most of the time. I feel like she might still be here if she would have utilized a place like this a day or two a week. My dad seems to enjoy his time at Joes Place, he is very social and loves having people to talk to. I still work so the care that loved ones get here is crucial to me. They understand what we as caregivers are going through. I have two granddaughters that I need to be around for, and plan to be around for a long time. Looking forward to many great memories with Joes!

When my husband and I walked into Joes Place for a visit, tour, and to meet Janis, we knew then that Joes Place would be the place we would trust my mothers care to. The whole family has treated us with respect and care for my mother. Now, years later, we are a part of Joes Place family because you do become part of each others lives. With my moms dementia Im able to take care of myself knowing my mom is in a caring and safe place. I laugh, cry, and hug Janis, Kristin, Bryan, and Daniel and their families and staff. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! ~Charlotte

Such a life saver. As 24-7 caregiver for my loved one with Early Onset Dementia, I definitely need the respite that they provide. Such a homey atmosphere. So thankful I found them.

I have been very pleased with everyone at Joes Place, not only because of how well they have cared for Barbara, but also because they have been so helpful to me. For several years I had attempted to do everything on my own to care for my wife as she struggled with the effects of Alzheimers. I learned of the existence of Joes Place in the fall of 2017. I expected resistance from Barbara when I initially started taking advantage of the services at Joes Place. Through most of her working career, Barbara had held executive level positions, therefore, knowing the importance she placed on her work, I told her that I had gotten her a job as a secret shopper. Each time I dropped her off I would slip Janis Stauder an envelope with 40 one-dollar bills in it. At the end of the day when I picked her up, they would tell her what a great job she did and reward her with the $40. When we got home I would give her two $20 bills for the envelope and she eventually would use the money for her beauty appointments and things she wanted. It was funny, after a couple months, she told me, I like going to Joes Place, but I think this is the worst job I have ever had! So she quit the job, but continued to enjoy the friends she had developed at Joes Place and still continues today. In early 2019, I learned Barbaras long term insurance may actually pay for a portion of respite care if the facility met their requirements. Like most insurance companies, they were initially reluctant to pay. But, Kristin, Assistant Director was nice enough to have several conversations with the insurance company and provide numerous documents to prove Joes Place is certified and meets the insurance requirements. Bottom line, the insurance company has approved the coverage at Joes Place which would not have happened without Kristins persistence and not giving up. A while back, Joes Place had a birthday party, I think it was for Kristin. Anyway, they invited not only their clients, but also the families of their clients to celebrate with them. They had a taco food truck as well as a DJ, who also did quite a bit of karaoke to entertain us. The music was from when we were kids and the 60s which was very nice. It was interesting that for Alzheimers patients, one of the last things they forget is music. The result was that many of the clients sang along with the DJ. He also played music that allowed us to dance. Janis took photos of Barbara and I dancing and provided me with a copy. I will always cherish that photo as there are not likely to be very many more chances for us to dance. I am so pleased with the love and personal care Barbara receives from all the staff at Joes Place. I know they recently went through a very intense inspection by the Illinois Department of Public Health in order to obtain Illinois State Licensure for a long-term memory care facility and passed with no issues. Having been personally involved with IDPH inspections during my 30-year career in healthcare management, I know how difficult and stressful these surveys can be. For a facility to pass their initial inspection without any issues is almost impossible, but Joes Place had no issues for correction. Without a doubt, Joes Place will be the facility I select when I can no longer provide a safe environment for her at home. I know in my heart that the Joes Place organization and staff will provide the kind of personal and loving care every family needs to depend on when making one of the most difficult decisions of ones life, to place a family member in a long-term care facility.

Joes Place has been a Godsend for us! Steven has been coming here for a bit now and being able to have a place to bring him and know he is taken care of and safe at hours of the day that work for us is more awesome than ever. The staff are all amazing and the clients always seem happy and well cared for. Knowing that my son is taken care of means the world to me. Thank you for all you do for those who need a little extra help + love! — Kelly L.

This is a home away from home. The care and kindness is a true blessing to the day care and fulltime care recipients and their families. I appreciate so much what Janis , Kristin, Dan, the nurses and the entire staff do to provide the love and care needed. The housekeeping is very good and there are books and activities provided. It makes it a pleasure for family members who are visiting. My Uncle is very happy here. He enjoys the interaction with staff and shows interest. May God bless all of you at Joes Caring Cottage

Its so homey and beautiful and is kept incredibly clean (honestly I dont know how they do it!). The home-cooked food is amazing. Mom got to continue to enjoy her life and make new best friends. Joes took them on field trips, out to the movies, to the zoo, and even dancing! I never worried one day about whether Mom was safe or happy after she went to live at Joes. Their gift to me was peace of mind.
