Meridian said yes to my family when other places said no. They allowed my family to stay together for end of life transitions and I cannot tell you what a blessing that was for my family. They live their Christian mission in their policies, their treatment of residents, and their inclusion of the entire family. It comes down to patient care and I have never left feeling like I needed to be there to advocate...they have my mom's best interest at heart. They have kept her moving, motivated, and positive when life has been challenging.

Sad to say I have a relative here at the moment that I have visited a few times as I live out of state. Terribly disappointed. Residents lined up in front of a blaring Tv with no interaction from staff. Staff are seen down the hall on their phones, not once did I see them offering a kind word or even a sip of water. Dinner time was most disturbing, feeding residents again with no kind words, instead talking to each other and eating their own food in front of them. I’ve been in the nursing field for over 50 years, we never ate in front of our patients the focus was on the patient and them alone. To make matters worse, rumors of bedbugs, standing water in rooms after it rains and mold. Until things drastically change with this administration and staff I would stay away if you have an option to do so.

My 92 year old Father came to Meridian Village & stayed at the Rehab unit, Assisted living, then to Skilled from June to September 9th. At the end he went Hospice for less than 24 hours @ Meridian. Most of our experience with Meridian was good. The place is immaculate, clean, friendly staff, and meals seemed fairly good. We had some hiccups with his medications. Meridian blaming the ordering provider, & the doctor blaming Meridian. The medical staff were knowledgeable & helpful except after hours. The Assisted living side had 1 nurse after 9pm or so, & she was always too busy to mess with us. Thats fine, he wasn't there long. The skilled unit was better even though he developed a decubitus on his back side. We appreciated all they did to help my Father in his last days, & we paid them well for it. We were however, surprised that Meridian did not send any form of a Condolence to our family after Our Dad passed away there. He was an extraordinary man & we miss him

Meridian Village My Best Place By Sandy Bornmann I am often asked what I like about Meridian Village. What can I say but that it is a blessing to live at age 89 in such a nice and a caring place? My thirteen best things that are great at Meridian are below. 1 My old furniture fit perfectly into my apartment. The pictures and dresser mirror were hung the day I moved in by a Meridian handy man. 2 My porch is a place for morning coffee and my newspaper that comes early every day. 3 If anything needs to be repaired or look at, it is checked very soon. Once they came in less then two hours. 4 The Meridian bus takes me and other shoppers twice a week. I can select the store that I want to visit. 5 The Mini van is great. It takes me to doctors appointments. It also takes me home. 6 The Meridian monthly calendar gives me things I can do or places I can go with a group. WOW! 7 The swimming pool was great to get me back in shape after I fell in my apartment. 8 Several doctors come here to treat for different things. You will get a notice as to times and you can make an appointment. 9 You can get needed health shots and Meridian is well set up to give them. Like Flu and Covid. 10 I can get meals in my apartment if I wish. (I like to watch TV sports with my meal.) 11 I get an apartment cleaning women several times a month. I can not help loving that! 12 I receive an Activity sheet that tells me what is happening at Meridian each month. It contains very special things to do or see. 13 Meridian TV Channel 2493 has great programs about activities happening here. (I wrote that channel number on my remote.) LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST AT MERIDIAN. THEY CARE ABOUT EVERYONE DAY OR NIGHT

My mother moved to Meridian a year ago. It has been a great fit for her since we know as her needs change they offer comprehensive levels of care. My husband and I have even placed our name on future resident list. She loves the staff and says everyone makes her feel comfortable. The activities are impressive and we have even taken advantage of the bus trips. It is never easy to leave your home and make a change in lifestyle but it has been the best for our family.

My father decided to move back closer to family after living over 20 years in Arizona. At the time I had heard many good things about Meridian Village, but my father decided on a different retirement community choice. It was soon evident that this was not the place for him. There were no activities and meals were served at eight, noo, and 5 o’clock To say, the food was good would be a bit of an embellishment. .When asking about other places for him to live repeatedly, the answer was Meridian Village. We were extremely lucky to get in almost immediately. My father has lived there now since December and absolutely loves it. There are so many activities that range from water volleyball to corn hole to any type of card game you could possibly want to play. Meals are served in the dining room with cloth table cloths, and an extremely friendly wait staff. The meals are both affordable and absolutely delicious. They have social events, such as offsite restaurants, karaoke nights, social hour, every Friday afternoon and coffee and social hour every Tuesday morning. They are constantly providing new things for the residence to enjoy. I can honestly say. Meridian Village will be in my future when the time arises.

July 2023 Why Move to Meridian Village? If a person has health issues, safety concerns, wants to be closer to family, or just wants to have more social interaction, then I recommend moving to Meridian Village. Unlike other independent living, or assisted living places, Meridian has a plan where residents can stay if they need to go on Medicaid. That is very different from most places. The staff people here are friendly and caring. Their phone numbers are published so they can be reached for concerns or questions. A wonderful chaplain has a service once every week. Other denominations do also. The chapel is an inspiring place. Meridian believes in going green and has a workable re-cycling program. The large indoor swimming pool offers a place for exercise and games. Residents are given a choice of two meal plans where delicious meals are served in a lovely dining room. These meals and other side options can be ordered and taken out. Many social activities are offered and explained in a well-written monthly newspaper calendar. Examples include: Cornhole, Socials, Line Dancing, Bridge Game, Shopping, Painting Group, Bingo, Stitching, a Volunteer Bakeshop, Weekly Morning Social, TaiJiFit, Mats and Hats, Speaker and Support Group for Alzheimer’s and Dementia, Bible study, Wii bowling, Parkinson Support Group, Aqua Arthritis, Strength Training, Stretching, and Range of Motion Exercise. A van and bus take residents to various events. Light housekeeping is twice each month. There is ample parking around and carts are available for transporting groceries and other items to rooms. Space is provided for garden plots, and some gardeners share their produce and flowers. There is a market in the building that sells stamps, cards, and other necessities. Groups gather around a pool table and the ping pong table. The Game Room is for card games, Cribbage, and Rummikub. Local newspapers are there to read. Input from the residents is encouraged and there are committees that meet and share their information to the other residents at least twice a year. This is done with volunteers in a democratic way. A small library is well stocked and organized with an active book club. Also, on the third floor is a real theatre with plush seats where movies are shown. There is a sidewalk which goes by the lake in the well-kept grounds. Yes, Meridian Village offers a friendly, safe, and enjoyable place to live.

My mother moved in to one of the independent living apartments at Meridian Village this past spring and it has been an amazingly positive transition. Like so many others, it is not an easy decision to move from your home and community of many years, but every single person at Meridian has made my Mom feel so welcome. She describes on a daily basis her activities, including card playing, stretching and strengthening class, movies in the media room, the Wednesday afternoon church service and the list goes on and on. I would highly recommend Meridian Village in Glen Carbon!

Meridian Village has been such a blessing for my family. My mother needed to move from her house after experiencing some medical set-backs. She felt welcome and at home from the first time she went to visit. Matt Schleicher and his team are extremely professional and caring. They take in each resident as if they were a member of their own family. My sisters and I live out of town and feel completely comfortable with the care our mom is receiving at Meridian while we can't be with her. She always shares stories of the daily activities going on and stays very busy in her independent living home. The unit is spacious and beautiful. The food is very good and there is always a great variety of meal choices and snacks. Any time my mom has needed help with maintenance or household care, someone was there to assist. Mr. Schleicher knows the residents by name and is always seen interacting with them each day, despite how busy he may be. Living far away from my mom is not easy, but knowing she is in great hands and that she is happy with her home and her Meridian family makes it so easy. Thank you for all you do to make this such a positive living community for my mom and all of the residents. We are so very grateful.

She wanted me to look for Independent Living which was very difficult to find. I moved her in about a month ago and everyone we have encountered there seems happy. Moving to the beautiful Meridian Village has been a positive life style change for me. I find the staff and all the workers helpful, kind, and always willing to help. Activities are many and varied. There are exercise classes, swimming, dancing, gardening, movies, cards, games, crafts, and pool to just name a few. I moved into a patio home during the Covid-19 restrictions. There were no activities at first but eventually they were reinstated as permitted by IL. Now there are so many different activities one has to make choices as to which to participate in. Having Meridian's own TV channels to keep up with activities, birthdays, etc is wonderful. There are printed sheets also delivered to keep us informed. Best of all are the residents. They encourage the new ones to join in such a welcoming manner. And every one of the staff recognize the residents etc.

My parents moved in to the Lutheran Senior Services Meridian Village facility in 2014. My mother was in need of Assisted Living, but my father could live independently and had actually been providing considerable care to my mother the last few years, much more than my siblings and I realized. Meridian Village suggested my father move in to an Independent Living apartment and my mother move in to an Assisted Living apartment. The concept of them not living within the same apartment had not occurred to us. However, when the New Resident Coordinator explained to us that many times the dependency of the spouse with nursing care needs has on the spouse who has been providing the care does not relinquish when the spouses live within the same apartment. By living in separate apartments, the spouse requiring the assistance will call upon the nursing staff where otherwise, that spouse would continue their developed pattern of behavior and call upon the care-providing spouse as their primary caretaker, never relieving that care-providing spouse of those obligations or duties. By living in separate apartments, the spouses can focus on being a couple and spending quality time together and let the trained nursing staff provide the primary care to the spouse with those needs. My father, more or less, said, "Where do I sign?". The lifestyle afforded my parents and provided by Meridian Village is the best part of the whole story. The lifestyle quickly became exactly what the New Resident Coordinator had described. My parents spent quality time together throughout the day whether that time was spent within the Assisted Living portion of the facility or the Independent portion of the facility, places in between and outside patios. They reminisced about many points in time throughout their lives as kids as well as adults. Together, they enjoyed meals, church services, entertainment organized by the facility and just relaxing indoors or outdoors. They got to know other residents and many staff members. Our family has scheduled many family gatherings within the Bistro Room as well as the adjoining Club Room / Chapel. The staff is always so accommodating regarding these events. Speaking of the staff, to a person, each employee exemplifies the faith-based approach to providing care and service to the residents and their families. As the aging process applies further limitations regarding a person’s abilities, Meridian Village possesses the infrastructure and staff to transition residents to the next form or level of care they require. As such, my mother transitioned from Assisted Living to the Care Center. She passed away in 2016 with her husband, all her children and many of her grandchildren at her bedside. We could rest assured she lived her last few years in an environment that brought her comfort, joy and happiness and even renewed or enhanced her spousal relationship with her husband, our dad. Since that time, our father has now transitioned from Independent Living to Assisted Living. This occurred in September, 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. While this move was challenging, given the necessary and appropriate precaution to restrict any facility access by outside moving companies, the Meridian Village Maintenance and Administrative staff stepped up and assisted with the physical move to the new apartment. We could not have asked for a better transition. Objectively, the overall corporate and facility management and administration is exceptional and I recommend the facility to all friends and family. Since my parents move to the Meridian Village facility in 2014, a handful of residents from their home town have moved to the facility as have two of my wife’s aunts.

My grandmother has experienced Meridian Village on two occasions. She had a short stay rehabilitation visit around a year ago, and she absolutely loved it! The food was delicious, the staff were courteous, and she enjoyed the great therapy staff who helped get back her back to baseline. Also, my grandmother recently transitioned to Meridian Village from home for LTC. The transition went very smooth. All Meridian village employees were very pleasant and attentive to my grandmother and meeting her needs as a newer resident. She loves participating in all the lovely activities offered, as well as the activity associates. She raves about the food and how much is offered every meal. She enjoys the clinical staff and says they are all very helpful, and able to redirect her when she appears anxious. This is a great place for anyone looking to receive optimal care from all disciplines!

I am enjoying a mostly stress free life, housekeepers, maintenance men, chefs and waiters and activities of all kinds. You don't cut grass or shovel snow. If you want to cook you can, in your full kitchen. Beautiful grounds to walk or sit out in. We have enjoyed many of the fun activities, met a lot of people and enjoyed the closeness like family. It will soon be ten years since we made the move, and I have no regrets. Some of the things I like best are the swimming pool, playing water volleyball, playing cards with friends in the recreation room, and watching free movies in the media room. The administrators have an open door policy and I have never seen a bad attitude among any staff member, they are truly here for us.

Meridian Village is a clean, modern, upscale facility. The staff is professional and friendly. Care seems to be above average, but at a cost. Private pay nursing costs are considerably higher than a nearby comparable facility and they require a 5 year financial commitment. If you can bring lots of money, Grandma will be well cared for.

My mom has lived at Meridian Village for 6 years at this point, in independent living (IL), assisted living (AL), and now memory care assisted living. She has had a few incidents while she lived there, once the water pipes broke in her room in IL. The staff was phenomenal in taking care of the problem, cleaning all of mom's things that got water soaked and putting mom in another temporary room. Another time after my mom soon moved to AL, she walked out the door at night. Their alarms went off and they quickly got her and brought her back in before she could leave. In these and other difficult circumstances, I have found the response to be immediate, appropriate and more than accommodating. And in the general everyday care I am very pleased. The aids (and others there) really know the residents and do things that are very individualized. For instance, they let my mom fold napkins or let her pretend to iron them with a toy ironing board. I'm sure it makes my mom feel needed. On her birthday the nurse's aids themselves baked her a cake. Everyone from the CNAs, the nurses, the administration and even the beautician are caring and wonderful.

My aunt, who has dementia/Alzheimers and 90 yrs, was in Meridian for a few weeks due to hip surgery. She was released becaused the physical therapy department felt they could not effectively help because of her mental state. Mind you she is not in the worst of health. Personnally, the PTA staff were not seasoned to adapt to my aunts disability. After returning to Cedarhurst in Collinsville where she lives, my aunt had to return to the hospital and needed further r©habilitation and skilled nursing. The hospital contacted Meridian because she had recently been released from there and everything was set to have auntie transferred. The day of transferring, the hospital informed me that Meridian said they did not have skilled nursing to accomodate her. Auntie is walking and has progressed quite well due to a patient PTA staff at Anderson Hospital. How can a facility charging $500 plus dollars a day not have skilled nursing services is mind boggling to me! Well...I've learned to move on.
