My husband had a stroke in January of 2026. He spent 3 months in a rehab hospital with very little to no results. He came to Saint Joseph's Village, and the first week he was here, they had him walking the parallel bars. The physical therapy staff is phenomenal. The regular CNA's are very caring and compassionate. Even the kitchen staff and dining room help is very kind and giving. My husband came here from Kansas, and it was the best move we could have made. I highly recommend Saint Joseph's Village skilled nursing facility.

Kathleen C. Recently came in for rehab therapy. She said this facility is the best to be at for rehab therapy, she is beyond grateful with her experience here. Kathleen said during her time here she loved the staff, everyone had very warm, loveing and pleasant attitude. The hospitality that Claudia Schulz-admissions manager- offered during the search for a Rehab place was one of the things that made her choose St. Joseph Village. Kathleen said the rehab team is amazing as well and being able to make new friends during therapy and on her floor was a just a plus! She said she will absolutely recommend this facility for anyone who asks about a wonderful rehab place.

The staff are professional from housekeeping to administrator. The nursing staff are attentive and timely. I've been visiting seversl facilities assessing which would be best for Grandma. I feel like dietary is something most people complain about if you fix that you'd get 5 stars.

St Joseph’s Rehabilitation Facility has an excellent staff who go above and beyond the call of duty, the staff is always courteous and helpful and the physical therapy unit is one of the best in Chicago IL I recently recommended St Joseph’s to a friend of mine for her husbands care, and she said she could never thank me enough for the recommendation. I would recommend St Joseph’s to any family member or friend who needed rehabilitation services.

My dad was only there for a short time after a hospital stay but I have to say out of the 5+ nursing homes we’ve used throughout the years, this one is by far the best. It is incredibly clean, and the decor is very up-to-date. The nurses and CNAs were very attentive, knowledgeable, super friendly and personable. Although my dad was too sick to participate, they had extensive programming every day and the other residents looked very happy and well taken care of.

I have only nice things to say about this facility. From the clean and roomy spaces to the super helpful staff, it was a great place for my family member to heal. Claudia Schulz, the Admissions Manager, and Sarah Hejtmanek, the Social Services Director, made a difficult time for us, much more manageable.

Just wanted to share that my mother had a very good experience at St Joes. She was there for a month healing from hip surgery. She stated the food was very good. Had a nice private room. Staff was very helpful, especially on the PM shift. She loved the rehab staff and The big gym. Last the nurses were very kind. Hopefully she will not need skilled again but if she does we would return. Thank you for all your hard work!!

Claudia is a Rock Star! She immediately jumped in and advocated for my Aunt today! Issue with transfer from hospital to St Joseph. Cant say enough how much we appreciate her defending my aunts rights! Look no further! This is an amazing , welcoming and VERY clean facility. I have toured 20 plus SNF for family members to enter for short term care PT/OT over the last 5 years. This is my top pick. ! I visited without appointment today. Elvis was kind enough to show me around even though it was end of the day.Rooms beautiful & spacious. Shower room warm and medically clean! The chapel peaceful & beautiful. The food smelt delicious.I would definitely choose for myself if I need OT/PT. The entire atmosphere feels like a spa! Staff very friendly & accomodating. My Aunt hasn't completed her therapy yet. I'll update my review after my Aunts stay for therapy is complete. Family of Grace Smith

My step mother was placed in the sub acute care in 2022. Overall, I think they're professional and do a great job with limited resources. Aesthetically I thought the place was not so great, and I nearly took my mom out the first day. The walls were grungy, the carpet felt dirty, the furniture was solid wood and could be excellent with minor upgrading but it looked janky as it was. The windows also had some coating that made them look constantly dirty. I even went outside and cleaned them with vinegar and newspaper, but it had no impact. We had one bad incident early on with the staff (also on the first day), but I was willing to overlook that after many other good interactions. Generally speaking they were compassionate and the therapy was effective. I appreciated that the front desk came to recognize and trust me. I appreciated that the managers and staff are fairly available, and I think they do care and they do a great job with limited resources. It's hard when there's no right answer. The biggest problem was the temperature. It was a hot summer and the AC was blasting cold air and the inside was actually freezing cold. Nurses kept heaters in their stations and I brought in an (unauthorized, but very safe) space heater for my step mother. I wish I had taken the temperature but it felt to me like it was at most 68 degrees while it was 90+ outside. My stepmother was freezing because she only weighs about 90 lbs. and the cold was a real problem. I know HVAC is really challenging when it's cold at night and hot during the day, but I took a star off for that.

My elderly mother was transferred from a hospital to St Joseph village to recover prior to returning to assisted living. My mom had a terrifying experience at another facility in skokie a few years ago. They were giving her a shower, something happened in another room, and all of the staff left. They left her unattended for over an hour. Once she got cold enough she decided she had to try and get help. Miraculously she made it to the door, opened it and stood naked in a hallway screaming. Needless to say, I was not at all surprised when the concerned CNA (named after a flower) told me my mom was refusing to shower. I explained to the CNA what had happened previously, and she said "Oh, sorry to hear that. We did not know that had happened to her." and left the room. I thought that was the end of that, but this CNA was not going to give up! 5 minutes later she was back in the room. "Ok" she says "this is what we're going to do. I have explained to the nurse what has happened to you. I have the shower room open and want to take you on a tour." As she was wheeling mom down the hall she explained she would never be left alone. She would not need to stand up, or have any fears of falling. "Let's just go and have a look, with your daughter with us, and see what you think." Needless to say, with her extraordinary compassion and empathy, she totally put all of my mom's fears to rest. Water was turned on, and Mom actually enjoyed her shower! It takes a special kind of heart to work in healthcare, I personally do not have that kind of heart. I am so grateful for those who have dedicated themselves to this profession. We need them, and people like the CNA who went over the top to help my mom, should be recognized! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!

I called to get information on moving a relative out of state to this facility. I was transferred to Sonia’s voicemail and left a message. A week later no call back. I called the headquarters number and asked if perhaps they are full and aren’t taking new patients. The woman who answered apologized and called St Joseph while I was on hold. When she came back she said that Sonia was doing a tour but that someone from their hq office would call me back immediately. That was before Christmas. I would be very hesitant to place anyone here if they can’t return calls just to get information.

Words fail to express how helpful my experience here was. I came here for rehab on a (non-surgical) comminuted fracture of the acetabulum (3 fractures of the hip socket/pelvis.) Without surgery, that’s a major challenge, especially when I walk up 3 flights of stairs at home. St. Joseph’s was highly recommended to me by a friend in the industry, and I’m so glad I got that recommendation. Their physical and occupational therapists are of sterling quality, consummate professionals who nevertheless manage to be really nice people as well. My therapy was expertly directed to the specific challenges I’ll face back at home, and at work, while I continue my recovery. They made it possible for me to live my life again, despite the fact that I’ll have to do it with a walker and cane for a while. I’m extremely grateful to them for their excellent work. And it wasn’t just the therapists who made my stay here such a positive experience. All the staff are extraordinarily kind, professional, and helpful. I’ve been applauding health care workers from a distance during the pandemic. I’ve admired their heroism. And now that I’ve had to rely on them to take care of me, and to train me to take care of myself, I am in awe of the work they’ve been doing in such challenging times. The folks at St. Joseph’s are now my personal heroes.

My friend and neighbor for 22 years was like a second father to me. Frank Woelfel passed on June 13th after staying at St. Joseph Village. His stay was filled with care, conversation, and LOVE by the staff, especially the CNAs and Nurses! Frank was extremely grateful for this and expressed his desire to remain at St. Joseph's despite options elsewhere. Until the day he died, Frank had two hour conversations with Maria and Joana! He loved you both! I knew how much the friendships meant to Frank because I saw it firsthand. I was present at the Village nearly 5 times a week and we would laugh at the number of 'knocks on the door' during my visits. Frank and I very much appreciate all of you at St. Joseph Village! People and relationships are the most important factors in choosing a home for a loved one as that translates to the level of care received. Frank hit a home run with St. Joseph Village! Thank You!

I highly recommend St. Joseph Village to anyone looking for skilled nursing or assisted living care. My mom, who lived in southern Illinois, suffered an unexpected and debilitating illness and could not get the proper care she needed in her small town. I live in Roscoe Village in Chicago and selected St. Joseph Village for my mom after researching and visiting several facilities in Chicago. My mom spent about 8 weeks in St. Joseph's skilled nursing unit receiving excellent around-the-clock care. When my mom arrived, she could not walk or care for herself. After her stay at St. Joseph, her physical and emotional health improved dramatically; her ability to walk and care for herself were restored. St. Joseph's team of professionals coordinated with her physicians at Rush University to oversee and implement a multifaceted healthcare plan that included physical and occupational therapy, diet, exercise and advanced pharmaceutical treatment. The facility also offered well-planned social, entertainment and spiritual activities, which my mom was easily able to attend and thoroughly enjoyed. All the staff members were knowledgeable, helpful, attentive, communicative, professional, caring and friendly. The facility is clean, well-maintained and well-appointed (i.e. it feels like an apartment building or hotel, not a nursing home). The grounds are beautifully landscaped and offer ample outdoor seating and walking areas. The staff was very attentive and kind to my mom and always adhered to best-practices in treating my mom. Everyone knew her name (and mine) and genuinely cared about her well being. And to top it all off, my mom loved the food, which was expertly prepared with quality ingredients and offered in ample variety. Without reservation, I would recommend St. Joseph Village to anyone. I truly believe that my mom would not be alive were it not for the care and treatment she received here.

My mom was in St Joseph Village Center in Chicago IL for a month for rehabilitation due to spine surgery. Facility is clean and alot of activities for the patients. Staff was awesome security was awesome. Everything was awesome just very dissappointed at the time of discharged and before discharge social worker Rachel no communication whatsoever. Did not help out in anything. I thought that obviously she would order a walker a commode and other necessary equipment for when patient gets discharged. No one ordered nothing verbally physical therapist and supervisor a day before discharged stated equipment will be order and delivered the next day. Its been a week and nothing. I called Rachel she listened and said will review and check status. All she did was ignored everything and transferred everything to another agency with home health care. Never called me back nothing just basically didnt care. I also emailed her about transportation she stated insurance dont cover etc did not provide no resources by email. On phone regarding equipments basically everything she said insurance dont cover point blank. I would of gladly appreciate resources and more communication from her while my mother was a patient. My mother has been using a borrowed cane which she is not to use because her back is getting worse using it. Also I try to borrow walker and they where not allowed to borrow it. Please Social Workers are here to help not to get rid of patients with no resources.

I can honestly say that I prayed and God answered. My mom was able to get in to this facility rather quickly which I am forever grateful. From the moment she arrived to the day she departed, everyone there and I mean everyone that we came in contact with was extremely fantastic. She was treated and cared for with such respect, dignity, love (yes love) and everyone was so communicative with us for every little detail. I asked God for a place with people who have a heart like His and we received oh so much more. I am eternally grateful to every medical worker, every pastoral person, and every staff member. They are commited to what they stand for and that is what Jesus is about. Hearts of love even in the most difficult times to the best yet to come. I thank them all from the bottom of my heart.
