This review is specifically for Kadeijah Bailey, fondly known as Bailey to my dad and our family. My dad Michael moved into Artis two months ago and Bailey is one of the care partners on his floor. She is incredibly kind, friendly and does her job with such care and attention. Bailey is particularly great at verbal cueing the residents as she guides them around the community ” particularly those who, like my father, have mobility challenges. Helping residents on the memory care floor requires a specific skillset and level of patience, as well as an ability to think creatively when juggling multiple asks. Bailey has these skills in spades. Perhaps most importantly, she treats the residents with respect and consideration. She does not infantilize them, nor is she short-tempered if and when a resident is disruptive or isn't following safety instructions. Even in times she has to be firm, she does so with a loving nature. When Bailey is on shift, I know my dad will feel heard, safe and cared for. She has been an invaluable part of making our transition smoother. Thank you, Bailey!

My mom, Joanne, lives at Artis, and I can’t say enough about how grateful I am for this community. The team truly shows up for her with so much care, attention, and love it’s clear they see her as a family. One of my favorite parts is coming to visit and making art together. There’s such a sense of joy and connection, not just with my mom, but with the other residents as well. It’s a place that feels alive, welcoming, and full of heart. What means the most to me is that my mom has found real friendships here, and honestly, so have I. That says everything about the kind of environment Artis has created. I was surprised to read some of the negative reviews about Artis of Lakeview, as my experience there was very positive. My husband was a Memory Care resident, and I found the care partners to be extraordinary”consistently warm, supportive, and attentive. It truly felt as though they cared about him as a person. The work they do is demanding and not for everyone, but I always felt my husband was treated with dignity and respect. For residents who are interested and able to participate, there are daily in-house activities, both morning and afternoon, as well as occasional outings. Holidays are thoughtfully celebrated with decorations and festive meals. There is also a lovely terrace with tables and comfortable seating where residents can spend time with family and friends. I was also surprised to see criticism of the meals. I often visited during mealtimes and found the food to be well-presented and appetizing, with a varied menu that residents seemed to enjoy. On a few occasions, I spoke with the chef about adjusting the texture of my husband’s meals, and he was always responsive and quick to accommodate his needs. My daughter and I visited several memory care facilities before choosing Artis of Lakeview, and we both feel confident that we made the right decision. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all of the care partners and nurses in the Wrigleyville neighborhood. Their support meant so much to my husband in his final months.

This is a five star retirement home! My grandfather was recently put in this retirement home, and he loved it! They have lots of security, making sure the place is secure, and they also have a yard outside, perfect for the ones who want to go outside and take a walk. They also have dining rooms for family to eat with the one they are visiting and have a chat. The staff are very nice, and so are the elderly that live there. This place is amazing, and has basically everything you need at all times.

Artis of Lakeview is absolutely awful. Terrible management, terrible food, no engagement or activities for the residents. The rent was raised 30% and more and more things were taken away. Residents sit around and do nothing. Staff could not care any less. Incredibly high staff turnover. Wish I don’t have to give them even 1 star. Truly awful place, don’t be deceived by how pretty it looks. It’s bad in every way.

Artis Lake View is a beautiful, welcoming community with a thoughtful approach to memory care. My mom was in need of a temporary memory care facility for a few months and Elderwerks referred us to Artis Senior Living as a place we would like. Patti, Amber, and Natasha made us feel so welcome and they took care of getting mom in there very quickly. Once there, the facilities are so nice and clean, there are so many things for residents to do, and the food is great! Just getting to the front desk will make you feel welcome regardless of who is there. Then, once you get to her floor, the nursing staff and care partners are amazing. Even when mom was having a tough time, she was always treated with kindness, patience, and respect and we were so appreciative. There was not one staff member who did not show that level of care. My only issue was that mom's time there was too short.

This is a very nice place. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. A luxurious feel with happy tenants. Also, the staff was very friendly and professional. Our host for the tour was Emily Waxenfelter. She was very lovely and passionate about taking care of others. Knowledgeable and proactive. I spoke with her over the phone to set up a tour, and she followed up with all the necessary details to welcome us in. I mentioned that my father was a veteran, and she proactively provided us with further information that was tailored to his needs. It was an awesome first experience for my father. This was my mom's first Thanksgiving at Artis. The shared professional kitchens at the end of each floor hallway are perfect to gather and prepare just about anything, but this year we brought in our own precooked turkey and fixings. I probably should have scheduled ahead with staff but they were super helpful with our event and helped with cleanup. My review is about the Memory Care facility at Artis Lakeview, where my husband has been a resident for the past six months. In many ways, Artis saved his lifeand mine. Suffering from dementia and delusions, he had fallen often and was unsafe in our home. From the day he arrived in a wheelchair until today when he walks easily with a walker, he has always been well cared for. He is healthier, he is safe, and he has never fallen again. Because it is easy for me to visit at all different times on different days, I can honestly say that each time I visit, everyone who works there is caring, helpful, and friendly. Since I was able to decorate his room with treasured mementos, he has always felt at home in his spacious, light-filled space. When I have needed help from the medical staff, they have been sensitive and quick to respond. However, it is the small things that always make a relationship special. One day a staffer noticed pictures taped up in his room from our grandchildren and asked him if he wanted a bulletin board to display them. A few weeks later, they were delivered and installed. I still do not even know who to thank! I am so grateful to them for responding with something that made him so happy. And that is very important to both of us.

My Dad Mr. Ed loved living at Artis Senior Living in Lakeview! The living, gathering and dining, and outdoor spaces are beautiful. The entire building was always so clean and well-maintained. He loved the 5th floor garden room, views of the city, fresh flowers and upscale decor. The level of care he received was exceptional. Dad always felt loved, connected with many of the other residents he considered friends, and well cared for. The Care Partners created a special bond with my Dad and he delighted in their warm kindness, and gentle caring ways, and felt a kinship with many. Artis truly felt like home for him and seemed like a second family to him. He enjoyed activities throughout each week including movies, classical music and singing, poetry writing class, daily Happy Hours with others, occasional outings, and hours on the patio. Dad even served as Ambassador for a year welcoming other residents and new staff! BBQs and special celebrations were such a nice way for families to gather together too! The food was always tasty, lots of variety and choices (even honor special requests, and certain dietary requirements), and he enjoyed dining together with other residents as well as the option to dine in his room when he wasn’t feeling up to going out. We had looked at several Senior Assisted Living communities that offered Assisted Living arrangement before choosing Artis. He had a comfy 1 bedroom with a den and small kitchenette, that was lovely and just the right size. I know it was the right choice for home for him to spend his final 2 years of life. I always felt welcomed and part of the Artis family too. In his final days under hospice care at Artis, his care givers were so sweet and helped Dad and our family say goodbye in a peaceful and dignified way. I would highly recommend Artis Lakeview for anyone considering a final home for a loved one needing Assisted Living.

I toured several Assisted Living facilities prior to moving my mom into Artis Lakeview. I saw several nice places, all advertising top notch food and various levels of potential activities for their residents. Our family initially chose Artis Lakeview for three reasons: 1) it was strongly recommended by a fairly 'particular' friend of mine 2) its location 3) its very clean, newer and well designed - as previous reviewers have commented, many of its physical features resemble a high end hotel. She moved in four months ago. The thing that I could not anticipate when I was comparing facilities was just how fantastic her Care Partners have helped her transition from having lived independently at home for the last 15 years to her 'new routines' at Artis. For the uninitiated, 'routines' and 'proper procedures' are very important to many older folks - my mom included. Personally, both her and I were concerned how she was going to transition to a new way of doing things. The impressive thing to me was that none of these concerns or my mom's initial resistance to new routines were of concern of her Care Partners. Her Care Partners, both the long time employees and the newly hired, all gracefully allowed my mom to adjust at her own pace - which ultimately resulted in a quicker adjustment period than I thought possible. For those of you weighing your options, you should know that there is a culture of caring here that is unique. As much as it is impossible to assess this culture when taking their standard tour - which will focus on room size, views, food, are over-all care. I spend a fair amount of time in the facility - I live close to the building, so its easy for me to pop in. During these short visits, I have seen repeated interactions between Artis' staff and residents that demonstrate a remarkably high level of care being administered at this facility. It's clear its more than a job for a lot of Artis' Care Partners - its a culture of doing a hard, demanding, sometimes mundane, and many times unappreciated really, really, well.

My parent has been a resident at Artis Lake since Dec 2019 in Assisted Living and has cognitive/memory impairment. The Artis staff has been exceptional - caring, attentive, personalized care. They have a fantastic social worker and nursing/healthcare director on staff. They kept families fully informed as the pandemic came to IL. And they have taken amazing steps to protect staff and residents from Covid 19. It is a very attractive space--both individual units and the common areas, patio, etc. Most of all, I am impressed by the quality of care--from everyone on the team - nursing, care givers, maintenance, administrators, etc. Everyone really works together. And they really understand memory problems and how to help residents live with dignity and as much independence as possible. I can tell they really care about my mom and know her well--her personality, strengths, challenges, etc.

When I went to Artis, I was not just blown away by the place aesthetically (which is gorgeous) , but by the thought that went into so many small details to enhance the life of those who live there. Let me say with sincere appreciation that every staff member I have interacted with since July 24, 2020 has been extremely attentive to my mother's needs. They have also considered my needs in the process. Any job in the healthcare industry is extremely difficult. And, to have the extra challenge of COVID-19, can truly be taxing on the most experienced person. What I have discovered is that each individual at the Artis works from their heart! The qualities of empathy and compassion are qualities that cannot be taught to people in the=at industry. I could not be happier or more impressed with Artis of Lakeview. My mother has lived there for the last year and has received extraordinary care. She had lived in two prior facilities and neither comes close to being as good as Artis. While the physical aspects of Artis of Lakeview are gorgeous (sparkling clean, light and sunny, beautifully decorated), it's the attention and support that my mother (and I!) get from the staff that is so amazing. They communicate well and often, listen to my mother's needs, understand her unique personality, and are always professional, caring, and empathetic. I know the Artis Care Partners truly love my mom. The way they have managed through the Coronavirus pandemic has been exemplary. Because of them my mother is happy, safe, and thriving. I am grateful every day that my mother is at Artis-Lakeview.

newly opened. still smells new. so very clean. friendly staff. breathtaking skyline views. decor of rooms and hallways remind you of upscale downtown hotels. a great place to live. company friendly for residents families food is tasty. The residents patio is awesome. i recommend this company. i give it 5 stars of excellence.
