Reviews Waverly Inn Memory Care Community
October 2024
My Mom was at Waverly in Arlington Heights for 3.5 years. She could not have been taken care of any better than she was. Gisela and the entire staff were incredible to my Mom and to our family. They took care of her with such dignity even as she started to decline. We were so comfortable with her having Waverly Inn as her residence. The communication was terrific. We highly recommend them to anyone in need of that care.

Everyone at Waverly Inn, Arlington Heights was like a second family to us during my mom's 22 month stay before the Lord called her home. Walking into Waverly was like walking into a home. The common areas and rooms are clean and decorated warmly with beautiful memorabilia reflecting the residents time era. The staff is amazing and is really what makes Waverly such a great place. From the minute you walk in the door, you are greeted with a warm welcome which is carried on throughout the building. The entire staff has an "all hands-on deck" approach when caring for residents. Everyone is involved and is kind, caring, and patient. It is evident that all staff members care about each resident. They take the time to get to know each resident and their personalities and use that in their care approach to provide a comfortable and compassionate home environment for each resident. Dementia is a hard disease to navigate both as a patient and as a family member. But the compassion and love that was shown to my mom and our family by the nurses, CNA's, reception, kitchen, activities, custodial, laundry, maintenance, administration, and hospice staff during this journey exceeded anything we could have ever hoped for. Thank you, Waverly! We love you!

Waverly Inn has a pretty facility that is expansive and the staff is generally cheerful and nice. That's pretty much where the positives stop. Organizationally Waverly falters big time. My father fell numerous times at the facility with little to no communication to us as family. The medical doctor after he fell and broke his hip, told us that the staff knew my dad to be a fall risk due to all those instances, but no one reached out to us to let us know what precautions could be taken. While in the hospital recuperating for his broken hip no one from the Waverly management reached out to let us know how he was doing in the hospital all they sent was an emailed bill for next months rent. When transitioning him back to the Waverly from skilled nursing the day of management and nursing staff finally let us know that he could not return. Letting us know as a family that late in the game just shows how organizationally inept Waverly happens to be. I would encourage anyone who is considering this facility to ask these pertinent questions on behalf of their loved ones.

If you live in the NW suburbs of Chicago, and you are a caregiver for someone with memory issues, you MUST become acquainted with the Waverly Inn. This facility is a hidden gem. If you need one day of care, a week or a month of respite, this is the place! I have cared for my husband with Alzheimer's for 18 years. I didn't know such a haven existed. Let me tell you a few of the words that come to mind when I think of Waverly Inn: kind, experienced staff, generous policies, delicious menus, comforting rooms, awesome activities, beautiful decor, intimate environment, personal dignity, respect for clients and above all, a culture of love. Please allow yourself to take some time off and give your loved one with dementia a rich experience. Waverly Inn is the strongest lifeline I have received in all the time I have cared for my husband.

My family and I absolutely love this place! My grandma was at Waverly from 2020 to 2022. Covid hit our house very hard, we lost our grandfather and having to put our grandma in a memory care facility was a very difficult decision. The staff was very caring and understanding, highly knowledgeable regarding dementia. When grandma was put on hospice, we were provided all the support we needed.gram was 98 years young!

Kindest staff- not just to the residents but to their co-workers. Quick to respond, competent to handle tough situations. The facility is cozy and immaculate. Rooms feel like apartments. Quiet and calm environment. I worked in long-term care for about 20 years. This is the nicest facility and staff I've witnessed. We thank God for the people who take care of all of my family!

I recently toured this home for my cousins mother. I want to leave a review because I was overall very impressed. I was immediately greeted and welcomed at the entrance and the Executive Director, Lauren, gave me the tour herself. She was very informative and had a great sense of humor which made the tour enjoyable to say the least. The home was clean and had no bad smells. Had a home-like feel. The staff AND residents all had smiles. Activities looked fun and enjoyable for the residents. Rooms looked comfortable and appropriate. My family has not made a decision yet as they are also weighing out options in their own home as well.

Our Mother became part of the Waverly Inn Memory Care Community in August, 2021 until January, 2023 at which time she joined her Lord. There was a loving environment and the quality of care exceeded our expectations during her time at this beautiful and clean facility. The dedicated staff was attentive, caring and kind. Special Thank You to Gisela, Isaac, Cathy, and Alex. Our family highly recommends Waverly Inn if you’re looking for the perfect place for your family member, you will be assured that they are safe and well-cared for!
January 2023
Came here for a tour recently, and had a very positive experience compared to the other communities I toured. The place is extremely clean and smells like fresh baked cookies. The workers, even the managers, were out and about with the residents who all looked happy and well taken care off. Unfortunately, my mother had passed away before we could move her in to this community. I would highly recommended checking this place out if needing memory care for a loved one. Very impressed.
January 2023
I absolutely love this facility and the staff is phenomenal, especially a staff member named Octavia! My loved ones stay here and when we were visiting she stopped in to make sure all was well and if anything was needed and spent a little time speaking with us! Her care for the people there with her friendly smile it's helping us all feel comfortable with the transition! Thank you!! 🙂

December 2022
I toured the community and it was amazing. It looked great and Lauren, who toured us, was very knowledgeable during the tour. I felt like it would be a great place for my mom. All the staff were welcoming and it made it feel like they truly cared for everyone there. I know how difficult it is to take care of someone with dementia, but the staff there did it with such ease. I truly feel safe bring my mother there.

I am a retired physical therapist. During my career I spent at least 25 years in home care and often saw residents in memory units. I am a harsh judge of these facilities. I have had personal experience with my own mother with placement in a facility. My father in law was at another facility in St Charles and we removed him due to extremely poor care and a resident there escaping and not being found for about 24 hours. That was a horrible experience. We were interested in Waverly at first, due to the fact that they have sensors in the room that notify the staff if the resident falls (my father in law had a long multiple fall history). I can only tell you that this is a fantastic place to have your family member reside. The staff is completely engaged in your family members care. They are loving, accommodating with meal requests, and return calls when asked. They always gave an immediate call when something came up. They were open to feedback regarding his care. There's actually someone that answers the phone when you call. They're interested in not only your family members needs, but yours as well. The nurses and nurse practitioner were very vested in his care. There are multiple activities if the resident wants to participate. My father in law was a difficult man with his family, but the staff was able to bring out the best in him. Their care for him was stellar. He ended up needing hospice services and the transition within the facility for additional services was seamless. I cannot tell sufficiently why you should have your family member reside here (the room size, the shower within the room, the patio, the dining room (s), the decorating, the physical therapy in house, covid precautions, etc), but simply I would tell you to RUN here. Again, none of the family members can say one negative word about anything or anyone at Waverly.

As a former healthcare executive, I had a great deal of understanding in what made a good facility, and what made a GREAT facility. Additionally, my wife and I spent over 17 years caring for senior members of our family, and we knew what we liked and what we did not like about their facilities. After my wife’s dementia diagnosis, I searched for a memory care community which would provide the level of care and services that she required. After reviewing a number of facilities, some new, some older, some familiar, others not.Upon having a tour of the Waverly Inn, its programs, staffing, and overall facility, I immediately knew this would be the right place for my wife for the following reasons .The facility and grounds are very clean, well maintained, easily navigated with wide, well-lit hallways promoting safe movement throughout, with a secure courtyard for outdoor activities Rooms are adequate in size, pleasant, clean, well maintained resembling a quality hotel setting Staff ratio is excellent allowing friendly, dedicated caregivers to focus on their charges, and to keep them healthy, safe, and active, thus ensuring that residents are well cared for Extraordinary guidelines and measures were in place throughout the pandemic impact to ensure the safety and health of residents, staff and guests . Activities center on resident’s needs, provided throughout the day, strongly encouraging participation as part of their care plan . Residents receive healthful, tasty meals, on a routine schedule, along with snacks and special treats as appropriate, while their health care needs are promptly attended to by the watchful and caring staff. From my perspective, there was NO OTHER PLACE to be considered then the Waverly Inn of Arlington Heights. UPDATED 7/23/2021 .A number of months ago I posted a review (see above) of the Waverly Inn of Arlington Heights on Google, and awarded 5 gold stars to this facility. I feel a return review would be appropriate at this time. Now that the COVID pandemic has passed its painful and unpleasant high points, and people are getting vaccinated, I have gained another perspective of this facility. I find that all the attributes which were present during my initial review are still correct and appropriate for this facility. The measures that they had put into place to protect the resident population from the virus was extraordinary, and I, as I am sure, the rest of the family members of the residents, are even more pleased with their selection of Waverly Inn. My interactions with staff, from the new Executive Director, to the nurses, caregivers, and all the associated support staff have all been without question, excellent. The focus of these individuals is the resident and their care, and the impacts on the relatives and family members of the residents as well. I have learned more now that the facility is open again to family and friends, and take that knowledge and use it when dealing with my wife’s dementia. She has been a resident of this facility for the past year and a half, through the pandemic shut down, the cautious reopening, and now on a routine basis. I am even more convinced, based on my prior experiences, that the Waverly Inn is the best memory care facility in the area.

I currently have a loved one here at Waverly Inn At Arlington Heights, I am very happy about the new executive director. I just had a long conversation with her and after this conversation I felt so much better. She gave me some great tips to help talk to my mother and I just had the greatest conversation with my mom there. Emilia cares about all her residents in this community and I know my mom is getting great care with her there. If you are looking for a community that cares about personalization and details this is the place. Every staff member is wonderful!

Excellent place! When choosing a place for your loved ones, you always want to make sure that there is an emphasis on quality of care. This place is top notch. And the food is exceptional! Bonus! Please sleep good at night knowing your loved one is here.
January 2021
We chose Waverly Inn Memory Care Community for our loved one because it seemed like a family atmosphere and the people who worked there truly cared about the residents. The benefits our loved one received from being in this facility are for one, she got her self worth back; second, she is kept busy all day long, and last but not least, she got her own shower, which she loves, in her room instead of down the hall. Now she can take a shower whenever she wants instead of just once a week, like at other facilities. Before Covid hit, the community also took the residents on field trips!!! I would recommend this community to everyone who has a loved one in this situation. It is the best out there right now. The community allows your loved one to keep their dignity and independence as well as caring for them as if they were their own relative.

My mother had lived at Waverly Inn for approximately a year and a half. It was a place she called home, and for the most part was happy there. It was nice that we got to know the staff and other families through their community activities, entertainment, visits, and holiday parties. Most of the staff are friendly, sincere, and genuine. We would take my mother out often and also enjoyed visiting her there. We loved that the staff knew her well and made it a point to include her in her favorite activities. My mother liked that it was all on one floor, and the layout made it easy for her to navigate through the facility. They have a beautiiful spacious center courtyard and residents are free to spend time outdoors during nice weather days or stay indoors. Thank you to all the Waverly Inn staff who made my mother happy during her stay there. Since Covid it has been challenging for all - Its been hard on the residents, the families, and the staff. Its been a long 2020 and Im sure everyone is doing the best they can.
December 2020
Wonderful, clean, caring and safe environment for someone with any form of dementia. The staff is genuine and truly welcomes the residents and families. Activities are scheduled through the day, meals and snacks are tasty, the entire community is very well planned out. We are extremely happy with our choice for mom. Thank you.
