I have lived here for 6 years and can't say enough about the Elite Lodge. Since we're small, there is a wonderful sense of community. Everyone knows your name. The grounds are beautiful and there are lots of activities.

I stayed here as a traveling nurse. The unit was old, but doable. The unit came fully furnished with a couch, tv, dining table, kitchen appliances and utensils, and a bed. Residents were kind and welcoming. The pool was nice as well as the fitness center. Also the breakfast nook that’s included in rent was pretty nice most days. I gave 3 stars because I worked night shift and I felt like the facility could have cared less. I was woken up during the day while sleeping for work multiple times. Renovations were done on the suite next to mine and they were drilling the floor. When I called to say something it was just a Oh, sorry. Renovations should be done in a couple days! Additionally, they have cleaning every other week for the apartment. That would be fine if housekeeping cared about people that worked nights. Housekeeping would come in whether there was a do not disturb sign out on the door or not. While days and times were given to choose from, most of the days I was offered were days I had to work that night. The times were anywhere from 0800 to 3pm in the afternoon. Most of which I would be sleeping to go into work. The few times I sent housekeeping away so I could sleep in peace was met with a text saying units have to be cleaned on their scheduled days. I don’t think it would have been a problem to stay here if I was working dayshift. But the lack of care directed at me when I was just trying to protect my sleep due to the fact that I work in an ICU and need my rest to adequately take care of patients rubbed me the wrong way. This is one of the main reasons I left and found a different accommodation.

I have lived at the ELOA for 5+ years. I enjoy the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and my fellow residents. The location is phenomenal. The number of activities is amazing. I like playing pool. There are 3 pool tournaments every month, one for men, one for women and a Co-ed tournament in which the partners are selected by a blind draw. The courtyard is beautiful with old growth trees and privacy from the street. It it great having two physical therapists and an occupational therapist on site. You really have to tour this place to understand what a great place to live it is.

I enjoy living at the lodge. The GM Dirk bends over backwards to make everyone feel at home. My wife and I do a bit of traveling and never have to worry as everything is taken care of for us. There is always activities to do. We stay quite busy.

Choosing a ILF for our uncle was not an easy decision. We wanted to make sure he was well taken care of. We decided to give Elite Lodge of Ashworth a shot and it has been the best decision we have made. My uncle feels like he is on vacation. The atmosphere is energetic, the staff are kind and caring, and there are always plenty of activities going on. If you are looking for a safe and fun place for your loved ones, I would highly recommend Elite Lodge of Ashworth.

Honestly I was very hesitant about leaving my parents to independent living but after my first visit you can just feel the warmth in this place . The staff just makes you feel at home like family . It is extremely clean and organized . I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends.

I came to the Lodge 10 years ago after looking at 8 other places in Des Moines. I kept coming back to the Lodge & finally committed in August 2013. I owned a townhome in Ankeny & decided to sell after my husband passed away in 2010. I no longer wanted the responsibility of a home by myself. I’ve not regretted the move. I like many of the amenities that are offered-weekly housekeeping, one meal a day, underground parking, exercise classes, movies, Friday Frolics, weekly scheduled activities, most of all the friendly residents & helpful staff. It has a homey atmosphere.

Nothing but amazing things to say about Elite Lodge or Ashworth. My mother has been staying there for 8 years now. The new management came in and while we were all nervous about the changes that will occur, they have been nothing but spectacular. The facility has gotten an uplift and this new ownership really does care about its staff and members!

I spent a year looking for just the right space. Looked at all the newer homes in the burbs but nothing held my interest until I drove by the lodge, there were so many trees and lovely grounds. Told my kids that it looked like Girl Scout camp. They were a little hesitant but they both set up appointments with Dirk, and concluded that all was well. I dropped in with no appointment just so I could catch’ any problems. Every single time there was someone I could speak to at the office and better yet there were members going to different activities or coming up from the underground parking lots after shopping. I wanted to choose where I lived while I was still active and not force somebody else to decide. I hear over and over that the Lodge is known for its family spirit, and I agree. I think I have learned more from these old folks’ then I have in the last 10 years. So call Dirk for an appt and talk to any of us that are coming and going. You won’t be disappointed

I love the members and employees of Elite lodge. I was recently diagnosed with cancer and everyone from the top of the organization to all the members took up a collection to help me with medical bills, I will never forget their kindness. This is what family is all about!

Elite Lodge of Ashworth has been a blessings for my parents! Very nice, well maintained buildings and grounds that feel like home. You can make it modern or keep it traditional!They have very spacious floor plans available and you can customize to make it feel like your home! Plus you can keep your pet! Super friendly staff and neighbors! Cleaning service and delicious meals help ease the stresses of aging. Temperature controlled underground parking. Onsite physical and occupational therapy services have been fantastic. I can’t say enough about how happy we are to have found the Elite Lodge of Ashworth!
