Prairie Hills has been great with my father-in-law's well-being. The rooms and community areas are all very nice and make one feel very welcome. He is getting all the help he needs to have everyday comfort. There are many activities for the residents as well. I would recommend Prairie Hills to any family who wants their loved one to get the assistance they need as they age.

My parents began living at Prairie Hills (dad in Memory Care and mom in assisted living) 2 years ago, after being unable to remain on their farm of 65 years due to health reasons. Through a stressful and heartbreaking time in our lives, the staff at Prairie Hills provided support and guidance to me, as well as amazing care for my parents. Dad has since passed, but Mom remains in the assisted living area at Prairie Hills. All staff, as well as on site physical therapists, provide her with great care and respect. Thank you!!

I have known Sarah Zimmerman, Senior Lifestyle Counselor, for a while now. She is great! She treats the seniors at the Buchanan County Senior Center with a lot of respect. My dad moved into Prairie Hills in August of 23. The staff there was so welcoming and accommodating to his needs. Prairie Hills has given me back my peace of mind when it comes to the care of my dad. I absolutely love that they have in-house therapy and strive to make sure the residents have the best care mentally and physically.

After much discussion with my family I moved my parents into Prairie Hills back in August of 2023. I have been very impressed with the cleanliness and the staff that is so willing to help. Which was a fear about thanking this next step in the story book of life. My Mother is in the memory care unit at PH & I love the fact that they do activities with the assisted living residents. They go on bus rides every week. Staff is so friendly and kind. I would recommend PH if you're loved one needs more care than what you can give.

We have a family member that has been a part of this retired living community for a year now. She has experienced so many positive interactions daily. The weekly activities, phenomenal staff and continued nurturing environment are evident. We are very thankful for Prairie Hills on multiple levels and would highly recommend this living community to others.

From the first day my father moved in to the residence, the staff has been wonderful. Everyone has been welcoming, everyone has been so kind and they treat my dad with care and respect as we maneuver through this next phase of life. The Heath Care staff, Lifestyle Counselor, Activities Director, Resident Assistants, Kitchen staff and Maintenance and Cleaning staff have all been wonderful. I could not be more pleased with the folks watching out for Dad every day.

My Mom has been at Prairie Hills for a year and a half. She has made so many new friends and enjoys the staff so much. She loves the activities they have and the interaction with people. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful home for our Mom!

My parents were ready while I was not ready for them to be in a "facility". I'm happy to say I was incorrect in my feelings. They were welcomed to their new home and the staff were on first name basis immediately. They are now in a safe and comfortable environment with all the comforts of home. Residents at Prairie Hills are a close group of friends who cheer accomplishments and support each other during difficult times. As a family member we are kept informed as to the health of our parents. We feel welcome when we attend activities or are met in the hallway. The monthly newsletter allows us to know of upcoming events and church schedule. On a personal note, I wish the format from the old newsletter would return. I so enjoyed the many pictures of happy residents on outings and activities. I am pleased to give Prairie Hills 5 Stars!

Mom moved to Prairie Hills 2 months ago. It was hard for her to leave her condo that she greatly enjoyed, but is learning to love Prairie Hills. Cooking and cleaning is done for her. She enjoys attending Church services and social activities and visiting with old and new friends. We are happy she made this decision and has 24/7 help if needed!

My father-in-law needed help with having a dementia his worsened condition unable to put his socks and minimal personal hygiene. Due to lack of employees, I feel that the Resident Assistant who left by herself and I am afraid will not be going to be able to attend all these 16 residents under her care, we saw one employee in the back, and we asked her (the resident assistant) if she has some help and she said she is by herself, and we are concerned then. Fall is the biggest fear in these places like this due to lack of supervision. And sure, enough he fell multiple times in the room and bathroom. My Concerns are these: 1.) The food is not very good. 2.) Employees needs a better uniform a Nursing Uniform (no no sweatpants) 3.) $2000.00 What was that? Upfront fee they pay $7000.00 a month already. 4.) 1:16 Ratio per staff??? 5.) Staff ID (We don't know who visitors is or not?) My father-in-law was there 3 years ago and financially he was not charge of $2000.00 upfront fee by Jason, (ED) for some reason for paying almost $7,000.00 a month they should have a better communication. My hope is that to remove or lessened the upfront fees due to fixed income of the elderly and if they do charge them, they should do that to the insurance or something, after living there for at least 2-3 months. Life is hard enough for our Elderly population and please let us not make it harder for them in any facility physically, financially, and mentally. Thank you.

Great place for socializing and meeting new friends with separate apartments when they want the comfort of their own space. Provides meals, cleaning, laundry services, and anything that they ask for. Staff are helpful and friendly, run into them out in the community and always stop to chat.

I started working at Prairie Hills Independence in December 2021, after working for another community for 6-1/2 years in Cedar Rapids area. I instantly felt "at home" in this community and loved it so much that I moved my dad here! It is heartwarming to know that we are trying to make a difference in the lives of the residents that live here and bring them smiles daily. This career choice has given me purpose in knowing that we make a positive impact every day!

My mom has lived at Prairie Hills for several years. It's the perfect place for her. She enjoys the good food and socializing, yet has the comfort of her own private space when she wants that. Staff are helpful and friendly.

Recently my mother injured her back and needed a short term living situation where she would get PT and OT and be in a safe environment while she healed. We are very grateful we found Prairie Hills as my 95 year old mother had such a wonderful experience at there. The staff was so great to her and the services provided were over and above!

I like how they make dining seem like a restaurant. The servers come to your table with a pen and pad and write down your order. Then they bring you what they ordered. Theres always a salad bar and the food is good.

The staff welcomed my mom whole heartedly, as well as making sure my dad, brother, and I were aware of what to expect and how to deal with her transition into her new home. We were nervous and worried about having to leave her there, but staff was very supportive and respectful. We are much more at ease, and pleased with her care beyond our expectations.
