I visit a dear friend once a week at the memory care location. Walking up, the entry window is always filthy. Makes you a little nervous on sanitary practice just walking in. Going down the hall. Floor has been filthy in the front TV room and walking down the hall. Went into my friends room and floor was filthy there as well. Looked around and her table hasn't been cleaned for who knows how long. The clock was dirty and even the light switches. Does anyone un management's care about cleanliness? How about sanitation? How about contamination or cross contamination? Just because the pandemonium is over doesn't now you can relax and stop carring about the people you are in charge of. After all the facility it responsible for the over all health and well being. Please clean up and start sanitizing regularly please. Don't wait for another pandemic. Be vigilant.

Mom was sent to this rehab after surgery during the pandemic. Although I am typically not impressed with these types of facilities I thought this was the best we have seen in years. Clean, friendly, appears to be well maintained. Food was a little high carb for her needs, but you can bring your own. They had refrigerators. She was probably in bed a little more than expected after surgery so she had a slow start at rehab, but did well. Yes, I think you can safely send your loved one there. There were small annoyances of course (lost her blanket). They sent updates about covid, and how many patients or workers had covid (none when we were there). Appeared to be attentive to her needs. It was a good facility overall.

My mom has been living at Risen Son for 3 years now. She has gone from being independent, to needing assistance, to now full nursing care. At every stop on her heart disease, aging journey, the staff has been understanding and so helpful! The residents are kind to one another, and all staff (PT, OT, nursing, secretary, cleaning, and dining) call my mom by name. The nursing staff are kind and caring. You do run into the very occasional grumpy staff, but that is true at any place, or on any given day for any staff, I suspect. Mom particularly enjoys the administrator (Greg) whistling or singing as he walks the halls. Greg, not only knows the residents names, but knew my husbands and my name within a week and calls us by name every time we see him. The one thing they need to improve is the food. I know this is very difficult at a large facility, but it does need improvement in the nursing and assisted halls particularly. Maybe that is the best they can do, I have not compared food at other nursing facilities, so I dont know. I still rate a 5 because my Mom is always given the option for a PB&J, or hot dog, or grilled cheese if she doesnt want her food. I would definitely recommend Risen Son. As a family member, it is still wise and right to visit often and be an advocate. Staff are only human, and may forget things, but when you treat this as a partnership and keep communication open, it is best for everyone...especially the loved one living there!
