I have been living at Grand Living Indian Creek in Cedar Rapids IA for 1 month. Above and beyond all of the amenities that you can read about on their website, I have so thoroughly enjoyed meeting both residents and staff with whom I have connections that I would never have known about if I had not moved to Grand Living. Just start a conversation and before long you will find common interests, common friends, etc. For example, I moved into my apartment and met my neighbor who is the grandmother of one of my grandson's high school baseball teammates. We are planning a grandma/grandson double dinner date. Here is a photo of the courtyard directly below my apartment...my new night lights!

When I started thinking about the next chapter of my life, in my mind and soul I felt that I needed to have a purpose. My first step was at Grand Living I immediately felt that the people I met were active and fulfilling their purpose. I felt like I fit in and could see myself living there. Within 30 days I received a call for an open apartment. It was serendipitous to be on The 3rd floor with a balcony and a view of green space and Indian Creek. In a previous chapter I was employed by Marion pool on what is now Grand Living. I pray incessantly for God’s guidance. Standing on the balcony, God whispered to me “this is home”. Two weeks later I moved in. And have settled into my new home. Most importantly I have been welcomed by the residents and everyone! We greet everyone and stop by to check in and chat. There is a genuine care for one another. Everyone I have encountered is kind, courteous and joyful. Living here has helped me to be joyful even in times of challenges. Grand Living has enabled me to find the joy in my new chapter. I give and receive joy here. When I encounter people around the community of Cedar Rapids, I share where I live and after touring multiple places, this one has definitely measured up. If there is anything I need to really share is “Don’t wait” the support you receive enables you to live a purposeful and meaning life.

It is a beautiful place and accommodating to everyone to the best of their ability. They offer many amenities and entertainment as well as meeting each person’s needs. I’ve had a great experience with Grand Living. The Paw Spa space is such a nice amenity to have access to and is always well kept. The entire community is super clean, welcoming, and beautifully maintained. The front desk staff is also incredibly helpful, friendly, and attentive whenever assistance is needed. It was an easy decision for us to move in to Grand Living. We looked at many different places but this one stood out. When we walked down the hallways, residents as well as staff members would smile and greet us. And the food— was wonderful. I lost my husband suddenly last February, almost 4 months after we moved in. Residents and staff have been so caring and thoughtful. Grand Living isn’t just an amazing place to live, but also a wonderful support community. My mom moved in April 2024 and my dad followed in Oct 2024. My mom passed away this Jan. 2025. I worried about how my dad would do there without mom, but it has ended up being a blessing he is at Grand Living. The amount of support he has received from others who have lost a spouse too at Grand Living really has helped him out. He has people he can talk to and not feel alone. The residents can relate and be there for him. My dad has started to enjoy many of the events Grand Living puts on, he even got to wear his high school letterman sweater for their 60’s event. Grand Living is a wonderful home for my dad.

Our family is very grateful for the compassionate and professional care our mom is receiving at Grand Living Indian Creek. Anna and her team of caregivers in Luminations routinely impress us with their caring attitude and willingness to develop creative solutions to ease our mom’s memory care transition. Our family receives pictures of mom enjoying activities throughout the month so we can see that she is engaged. Her day is more active now than it was before her transition. Anna is also very responsive to our questions and has helped our family tremendously during this transition. Elsa and her team of nurses are consistent and thorough in their duties and very responsive when needed. It’s great that most of mom's medical care can be handled quickly onsite by the team. I spent several days with my mom and saw multiple instances of the caregivers going the extra mile to make her feel comforted and help her as needed. They smile and act like any request is a pleasure to complete. A special shoutout to a few: • Fatima, who gave my mom a big hug when I left and stayed with her to cheer her up. • Candace & Dianne, who made us feel so welcomed and part of the family when mom moved in. They took the time to get to know her and encouraged her to reach out if she needed anything. We rest easier knowing our mom is in such capable and caring hands. We definitely made the right choice.

Visited my sister over the weekend. Thoroughly enjoyed the "sock hop" and chair yoga. Also, Grand Living is a very clean and friendly place! From the front desk, to the servers, etc. my husband and I felt welcome, safe and cared for. The visitors room (#337 that we stayed in) provided a clean, quiet area for us to rest when we weren't walking the grounds, eating, or taking in activities with my sister. It was great to be close to my sister and not have to travel to a hotel and take additional time away from our visit and fun! Keep up the great, caring culture as everyone seemed to know each others' names and stories . . . a very friendly family environment. The staff members are incredibly caring and attentive. They go out of their way to make sure everyone feels comfortable and engaged. It's clear they're passionate about what they do, and that makes a huge difference. The Sterling Touch is alive and well here! There's always something happening here, from fitness classes and social events to entertainment and activities. It's easy to stay active, meet new people, and pursue your interests. The Facets Director Larinda plans amazing activities every day and is always open to ideas from residents, so you get a say in what activities are happening in your community. If I had to pick one thing that stands out, it's the overall sense of community. There's a real feeling of connection among the residents and staff, which creates a positive and supportive environment. I know that the connections made are genuine and last outside of working hours.

My husband and I came to Grand Living Indian Creek after he needed outpatient therapy. We only had 3 days to find somewhere we could both go. Their “Winter With Us” option was perfect for us. Our experience was exceptional all the way around. The staff and the other residents were welcoming and friendly. The exercise facilities were top of the line. We enjoyed the menu options and the dining room staff were outstanding. They really made you feel like you were well taken care of. We wanted especially Julie and all the employees at the front desk who always welcomed us back after a day out. What a great bunch of people!

If you are entirely healthy and capable of advocating for yourself, Grand Living is lovely with lots of activities thanks to Larinda, the relatively new Facets Director. It hasn't always been so great. If you are in need of any type of assistance or care, run away as fast as possible. Hopefully, the new Executive Director can turn things around. Right now, it is utterly dangerous due to outrageous neglect. My father moved in on September 1, 2022. I moved him out this week to another facility. Grand Living Indian Creek is responsible for the death of a man in memory care last August and has been fined $7500. What a sad testament to the value of life. Another man in memory care was severely injured on January 31, 2025. The public does not know if he survived his massive injuries. A number of people in leadership positions need to resign or be terminated.

Grand Living is the premier Senior Living Facility in Cedar Rapids! My husband and I moved here in late August 2023. There is no buy-in, first of all, and the rent is monthly, no lease. The staff and residents are truly amazing, so caring and happy to assist you in any way. As my husband’s health declined, the most meaningful thing for me was that I was able to take care of him as long as possible. When I could no longer do that, I remained independent and he was Assisted Living, but we stayed in our apartment. When he required Hospice, it was again in our same apartment. That meant the world to me. He passed away and everyone supported me and still does! I’m forever grateful we found Grand Living and you will be, too!

A recommendation for Grand Living at Indian Creek By Jim and Jan De Young 1/31//24 With two year’s residence under our belt, my wife and I can fully recommend Grand Living at Indian Creek as a fine choice for your retirement residence. When COVID hit we began to recognize that the need for some more assistance was upon us. We elected to move to Cedar Rapids where our daughter lives and looked at five senior living operations in the area. Based on our comparison shopping, Grand Living at Indian Creek stood out as best for us. We now have a roomy apartment with a woodsy view and all of the amenities that we could wish for. The meals are definitely superior in variety and presentation than any other place we visited. The activity schedule has a broad variety of choices ranging from escapist entertainment to serious cultural and educational programs. There is a good balance between internal programs and outside events that you can sign up for. We have a caring staff, friendly neighbors from all walks of life, and no long-term lease or buy-in requirements. Grand Living also has an active Resident Council that meets monthly with the Director and the staff heads. And they listen and are receptive to our suggestions. Do not get us wrong. Life here is not perfect, but it has been good for us and has met over 90% of our expectations. Glitches do occur when 150 people from varied backgrounds and in various stages of health live in close proximity with each other. What is more important, however, is that Grant Living has been quite good at solving the problems when they occur. If you arrive here after being your own boss and living in your own home for many years (as we did), you might want to consider that even the Garden of Eden had some issues.

Grand Living is a beautiful place to call home, but more than that, is the way all residents are treated. All staff members know the residents by name and truly care about them like they are family. My mother’s husband has Alzheimer’s and is now living on Monarch Lane. The Luminations unit has truly been a Godsend for us. We know that he is getting the best care, while also making sure he’s engaged with other residents and lots of activities. It’s such a huge weight off our minds and hearts to know that he will be taken care of with love and respect. Every person that has helped us at Grand Living has just been wonderful, so caring and willing to help with everything.
