It's been six month's since my aunt has lived there. I am quite happy with the facility and the care she is getting. The front desk and friendly and very informative. I do wish there was better communication with residents who do not attend functions. They often miss it. Perhaps the daily aides who check up on the residents could remind them of what is happening that day. Everyone is friendly and I don't have any complaints. She's happy so I am happy.

I've had the pleasure of attending numerous events produced by Discovery Village - some were educational and some were social. This independent and assisted living community has beautiful dining and meeting rooms. Jamie gave me a tour and the apartments are roomy, bright, and have all the modern conveniences. I also enjoyed interacting with the residents at a recent event. They brought in a local author for a meet & greet and reading. I highly recommend that seniors and their families go on a tour and see this place for themselves. They have lots of cultural events, a library, movie theatre, hair salon, gym, pool, etc.

This facility has what you need when transitioning from home ownership to needing less to maintain. They offer independent and assisted living with extra services. The people and staff are very caring, helpful and willing to go the extra step for their residents. They have many events to keep you occupied, they also have a few different game rooms in which you can play cards or your own games. They have a library and They have a beautiful pool. They do a great job with the landscaping and the food is absolutely fantastic. You will never leave the dining room hungry. There are many options to choose from for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

I went for a tour and found it to be very inviting. Inside the building, it was surrounded by large windows which made it bright and cheery. There is a very large swimming pool for the residents use. It has many amenities so you have lots of choices of things to do. I was shown one of the apartments and I thought it was quite roomy. It had a very nice large covered balcony. The dining area was nice and good to know residents can come down for all three meals. I would give this place in A plus rating.

I took my friend with her daughter to Discovery. She turned 90. We went to other places and found Beth at Discovery. What a joy she is too work with. She took us for a grand tour of the facility. Right from the start she made us feel at home. Everyone would speak to Beth. She was very attentive to our needs. She made us feel we're part of the Discovery family. The assisted living quarters are very spacious. I know my 90 year friend will be happy there. The family and I will feel comfortable that she will be taken care of. Beth is wonderful to work with. We have found a home for our mom @ Discovery Village Vero Beach. From my first phone call with Beth on a Sunday afternoon she put me at peace with the process. Beth really takes her time explaining and showing you what is available at Discovery Village. Beth engaged in conversation with my mom to learn what her interests are. We know Beth is a genuine and kind person, who truly takes an interest in the residents. The activity director included us in the afternoon snack as we waited for the tour, which was welcoming. We are very pleased with Discovery Village. We recently moved my mother-in-law in to assisted living there, and the staff are very kind and supportive. We had an issue setting up her television, and the maintenance staff had it repaired within a day. Specific staff who have been so helpful to us have been Angela (Assistant Executive Director), Chantelle (Nurse), and Betty (Med Tech). The apartment is clean, spacious and has everything my mother-in-law needs.

I toured Discovery Village Vero Beach with my parents. Our sales rep, Jennifer Marsh, was excellent. The upstairs remodeled 2 bedrooom units were quite nice and the residents were very friendly. The porches of the downstairs units we toured all smelled like cat urine. We tried out the food for lunch and unfortunately, it was quite "institutional" in nature. My parents were concerned about the noise and disruption of the upcoming remodeling that is being promised - and needed - as the buildings are older and in need of refreshing. Another concern was the grade of the ramp that would need to be traversed between the residence and the dining hall three times a day. The setting is a lovely quiet, secluded, wooded area west of Vero, with a natural canal and wildlife. However there are also concrete ponds right outside the buildings with bright blue painted edging that detracts from the natural surroundings.

Prices competitive with other places, yearly increase lower as well. The 2 bedroom apartment I toured was very nice, decent sized and has everything you need. There is not enough I can say about the staff at Discovery Village Vero Beach! They have gone above and beyond of what they had to do for my sister in law. That care and compassion they showed for her is outstanding! There is not enough characters allowed in this space to be able to explain the effort and time they put in to make sure she was always safe and if she needed someone to talk to they were there for her. She was by far not the easiest resident, but at no time did they turn their back on her. The amount of patience and care that was given to her cannot ever be repaid and said thank you enough. I would highly recommend Discovery Village Vero Beach.

Meredith Schulze greeted us upon our arrival, did an excellent job "showing" us the available one and two bedroom apartments. However, in walking through the hallways to see these apartments there were apartment doors upon with occupants inside, people talking and music playing, that was a surprise to us to see that was permitted. With the knowledge of it being the lunch hour, there were many, many older folks all over the lobby with the vast majority of them using walkers and/or electric chairs for mobility. That was another surprise. WE understand your facility is exclusively for the elderly, however we were both supersized at the amount of folks who were unable to navigate these short distances without the aid of the walkers and electric chairs. We are contemplating your facility for ourselves within the next year. It appears the staff is as represented, Ms. Schulze was excellent in her duties and responsibilities, cleanliness was a plus. My sister and I recently endeavored to research, visit and inquire of MANY assisted living facilities in Vero. As part of that search, we toured on several occasions-Discovery and there is a lot to like about Discovery. Since taking over as new management last April, they have spent money refreshing the large open lobby where residents tend to congregate to visit either before going into the large open dining room or to hear some music played on the piano. And they have more resident community rooms that will be refurbished over the coming year.As this building was a former condominium-the apartments are quite spacious, which is a plus. A negative for us was the unavoidable long walk of hallways to get to an apartment. We looked at two options, but, even the closest apartment to the activity areas would still be a long walk for a senior. Many residents used scooters, we saw. We were concerned our mom would feel isolated and not connected due to the distance separation from apartments to activity/dining areas. Another important component to consider when looking at various assisted living communities is to inquire about which type of licensing they have. There 3 different licenses we learned of as we toured different places in Vero. Discovery has a standard license. Ultimately, for our mom, we wanted more than that. For these reasons, we did not choose Discovery. And I would be remiss if I did not make mention that the sales staff that we spoke with and managers - on several of our visits-always were available to answer all our questions and made us feel welcome. My take always to share: Choosing assisted living for a loved one is an important decision-take the time to visit , try the food, ask questions and also observe the staff that will actually be interacting with your loved one. Because after they move in, those are the people that matter most! And make sure you clearly understand what services they can and can not provide.

I think they need to find some top-notch chefs. Having all my meals in a beautiful dining room was a major part of part of my decision to move to an Independent Living Facility. One year later and I need to revise my review. We now have a wonderful chef, Jerry, and the meals are delicious with a lot of variety each day. The dining experience couldn't be any better.
