American House St. Petersburg has exceeded my every expectation! My sister moved our parents here from North Florida 5 years ago to be closer to her, and while we hoped for the best, we really didn’t know what to expect. American House is well run and kept clean, both of which are important aspects for healthy and comfortable living. Where they truly excel is how the staff cares for and forms genuine connections with their residents. Employee, Celeste is friendly, helpful and greets everyone with a bright smile and sincere sense of warmth. She has always been helpful to our family - not just to our parents who are residents, but to us all. Thank you American House St. Petersburg for doing what you do for residents and families so well!!

Drea in the memory care unit is a wonderful care-giver. She is kind, friendly, helpful, caring, funny, smart and outgoing. She is wonderful to work with and really cares for those of us in memory care, both the residents and their loved ones. She deserves a big pat on the back and an applause !

It's hard to place a value on the worth of a place where you trust the staff to take the best care of your parents. American House was the best choice for our family. I felt that way when my parents moved there from their condo on St. Pete Beach, and I feel that way now several years later. The staff at American House becomes your family. From the cleaning staff, to the dining staff, the med techs, the aids, the nursing staff, the Lifestyle enrichment team and the administration are 100% top notch. They went above and beyond to help us take care of mom and dad, and even helped us get through some of the more challenging times. My brother and I had toured multiple facilities and were discouraged - thinking none of them would be great for our parents. Then we found American House, which changed everything. If you are looking for a place that will feel like home and treat your loved ones like gold - this is the place for you.

The Memory Care team at American House in St. Petersburg has been nothing short of exceptional, and I cannot say enough about the care, concern, and genuine compassion they provide every single day. In particular, Janet consistently goes above and beyond in every sense of the word. She is proactive, attentive, and incredibly thoughtful in how she communicates. Janet anticipates needs, keeps families informed, and takes the time to explain situations with clarity, patience, and empathy. That level of care brings immense peace of mind, which is truly priceless when you are trusting others with someone you love. What sets her apart is that this is not just a job to her, she clearly cares deeply about the residents as individuals, not routines or checklists. If you are looking for a place where families are treated as partners, this is it.

My husband and I met and toured with Teresa at American House. This was one of quite a few location facilities we toured to assist a friend in finding the right place for her parents. I cannot say enough about how impressed we were with the facility. Having had the same tasks for our own family members in different states, we are aware of the good and the bad. American house was impressive. Costs are as you would expect. Assisted living rooms are very nice. Services are plentiful. I love how the pool and outside area is centralized with the building around it - for security and easy access. Theresa was incredibly well informed and easy to talk to. I would recommend touring this facility if you are in the market. You won't be disappointed

I moved into American House 4 years ago and feel, each and every day, that I am not in a HOUSE, but a loving and supporting HOME!!!! I have experienced it all!!!! The good times and the not so good times and I feel there is no better place I could live. The management and staff are incredible. I have had the opportunity to work closely with Eugene Valentine, our executive director, and Teresa Kirwan, our sales marketing director. They have always been available and open to the needs of the residents. Many of the staff have, also, been here four years and this, alone, speaks for itself for if they weren't happy there are many other opportunities for them elsewhere. I am looking forward to the start of my 5th year with the continuing love and support I've received all along.

American House is staffed with compassionate and competent care takers who are happy to work there Therefore these staff members stay, providing outstanding continuity of care The personnel go out of there way to ensure the comfort of each and every resident Grateful to have my parents comfortable and receiving outstanding care

My mother moved into American House in November 2024. Teresa really was a life-saver after the hurricane season, as my mother's move and decision to do so was faster than we had all hoped. Teresa helped us navigate the process with ease and after she moved in, it was a like a weight lifted off of all of our shoulders. In the subsequent months, she's made wonderful friends, enjoys the nightly dinners and has even gone out on a few "lunch bunch" trips to local restaurants. Mom is new to St. Pete, and living here has been such a big transition for her. But American House staff like Kelly, Celeste, and Ray at the front desk have helped her with all sorts of items, big and small. Ray is so awesome, that I'd call her a friend of mine now too! Staff have helped mom connect with new doctors, get rides and feel comfortable (and not isolated) when she stopped driving, and they do little things every day that make her smile. I feel so much more relaxed now that she's living in a community of fun, interesting, diverse women and men who make every day different from the one before! Mom can be as social as she wants, or just cozy up with a book in her apartment and relax. The building is safe, the elevation is out of an evacuation zone, the pool is lovely, the care is world class. The only small suggestion I would have would be for the food to use more fresh veggies and less salt. We have so many awesome farmers markets in this city, I'm sure American House could get a contract with them instead of buying from Sysco or other large distributors. But overall, it's a 10/10 because of the experience and the people. The dining staff are amazing and the servers really take care of my mom and her picky habits. If I could do it all again, I would have moved her in two years earlier!

I have lived at the American House for almost four years. My husband died two years ago and everyone was very kind and helpful. My favorite person at the House is Celeste. She has been such a great help .She is able to answer all of my questions. She makes copies for my Food Committee Meetings. She explained the check out system to me and smiles when I ask for help. Each morning Celeste follows up on anyone who has not checked in for the day, and even goes up to make sure they are safe. Celeste is a very important employee of the American House and everyone just loves her! Joan Weiland

I’m so grateful every day to live in such a beautiful environment as American House, St. Petersburg. From the wonderful staff to an entire community of caring residents who quickly became friends, this is a great place to call home. You’d be hard pressed to find better meals, activities or a more well-maintained environment elsewhere. I’ve never had an outside visitor come here who didn’t leave saying they’d love to live here.

I simply can't give enough compliments to Teresa and American House. Firstly, the place is immaculate. Spotless. When entering it has the feel of a high end resort. It is so welcoming warm and inviting. We fell in love immediately with the warm smiles of the staff. Teresa from day one was so calm, helpful and personable. She was such a comfort to myself and my mom during the whole process. It's been a week since mom moved in and she loves it!! The food is delicious, the activities are plentiful and the staff are second to none. I feel such relief knowing mom is happy and well taken care of at American House!!

DO NOT by fooled by the pretty setting! Administration at American House showed little understanding of dementia care. Our loved one, who was deemed NOT an elopement risk (by the house physician) was being forcefully required to move into their locked unit because she was seen going out a side door, which she had done before without any issues. We were then threatened with having to pay for 24 hour one on one care until we complied. She is now thriving at a different assisted-living facility “ not in a locked unit! I have worked in the geriatric setting for over 35 years and I cannot and will not recommend American House for anybody seeking care for a loved one that is displaying any signs of dementia.

My mom has been in Memory Care since April 2025 at American House and her quality of life has greatly improved. She has a nice private room and bathroom and she's actively engaged by the staff. I am so thankful she's there, out of all the places I visited, this was top tier. It's like a resort inside and out. I'm very happy with this choice for my mom and she as well loves her spacious room, having her own furniture and artwork, and her plants. Having her at American House has been wonderful for her and our family.

My Auntie, Dorothy Prentice, loves it here!! All the staff is helpful; and residents can get something to eat or drink at anytime. Plus, the most important, the staff takes their time to listen and watch over each resident. In addition, the they make sure everyone is where they are suppose to be. That’s a big feat, when the temperatures can be close to the 100’s by noon. So, not only looking for the residents, they are making sure pets are safe. God Bless You and All that You Do. November 2022
We moved mom to American House to be closer to us and it has been nothing short of a blessing. Mom has made new friends, loves the activities provided and the facilities are spotless. All in all we couldn’t be happier with our choice. You can tell that the people who work there really care about the residents and family members too - a plus!
October 2022
I have resided here sense June 2022. My experience has been excellent. I live in the independent section in the least expensive apartment. 1 br, enormous bath, livingroom and kitchen, washer/dryer with very high ceilings overlooking the grounds on the 3rd floor. + 2 meals a day and weekly housekeeping. I moved here from my own house that i built in 1985. This is the nicest place I've ever lived, resimbling a fancy hotel. I've had experience with facilities such as this. My dad lived in another comparable local place for the last 4 years of his life where i visited him at least every other day. I though it was nice but this one has it beat. The staff is very attentive, calling me by name and asking after my every need. I can't find a negative thing to say. The location is ideal. It's right next to shopping, post office, banks, health facilities and convenient interstate access.
October 2022
There are a number of such facilities in this community. Many of my friends also in retirement chose other communities. I was drawn to this one because it is a newly constructed facility with modern electricity, plumbing, etc. It is also in the next to least evacuation area E, which proved to be a big advantage with the recent hurricane Ian. They were well prepared for the storm with food and employees. There is an electrical generator to provide uninterrupted electrical service. We had occasional interruptions in WiFi but standard cable TV was always available. Management is unobtrusive and friendly. The residents represent a broad spectrum of professional and geographical diversity. It is very pleasant to meet so many of them at dinner, and dining companions often change since there is random seating. The location is perfect for close shopping. In searching for something negative to say, the only thing I can come up with is that I don't like the SOFT water. I can live with that.
August 2022
Update: Again this is the best place ever!!! Thank you for your professionalism and actual compassion. I am crying tears of relief knowing he is in the best place possible for him and myself. If I could give a million stars I would Hands down so far this space is spotless, the staff genuinely kind and off to a great start. In the most stressful of events a child can have in placing a parent, I have every confidence that we are going into the right space and place for my beloved father.
